The Ameяican Government Thread

Be that as they may, how does one then say that the RNC was as damaging to the democratic process as the DNC was?. The shit that the DNC did was way worse, so you can’t fairly say that they were comparable.

I can see why Rubio and Cruz supporters can accept that their candidate lost fair and square, and now they should vote the nominee.

How do Bernie supporters vote for Clinton when he literally lost to her in a rigged process?

I don’t know how anyone can draw similarities between the two, to be quite honest.

As far as Bernie’s supporters go, they will more than likely vote for a third party or not vote at all. A bigger question is now that this information is out, will he rescind his endorsement?

The parties aren’t really government agencies, though. So I dunno what democracy you can expect from them. They just prop up candidates and provide a line of beliefs. So it sucks that they can gerrymander with which candidate gets elected and how, it’s always been part of each party. It’s only I think after the 1940s that those rules started changing.

I was talking to razor on the bottom half of the post

Sanders was a fucking plant, and the best one ive ever seen.

With the effective monopoly the Dems and Repubs have on all levels of government, third party votes are currently seen as wasted at best, and detrimental at worst.

LOL

You don’t remember Ted Cruz lying about the process and trying to switch delegates behind closed doors? Just because the RNC failed doesn’t make them less guilty, it just makes them inept on top of corrupt.

Yes, it does make them less guilty. That means there wasn’t enough people to go along with it. The proportion of corruption was less.

Let’s say I buy that (and i’m not sure I do 100%), but ok, parties are private entities and the primary process was never intended to be democratic per se. Fine.

Then what are primaries for?

  1. To put on a semblance of democracy. This serves the purpose of engaging voters and getting them to turn out.

  2. To help the party decide which candidate is more electable.

On both counts, the DNC has severely undermined it’s own interests. By shilling for Hillary and then getting caught red handed, the DNC has all but ensured that Zzzillary will fail to get the turn out that BHO got. It’s also clear that the DNC never had any interest in finding the more electable candidate.

Ted Cruz did that. Reince Priebus didn’t. Also what Cruz tried to pull off was slimy, but it was also rules based. The DNC actively sliming Sanders was waaaay beyond that.

Buy it or not, that’s how the parties started. They just changed their rules over time. Primaries and caucuses were pretty much for those entrenched in the parties to help select the candidates they liked the most, in turn those candidates received support and funding from the parties.

I’m not defending what the DNC did or what the GOP tried to do, it’s just how it is. They are, pretty much, private clubs.

My friend is still slobering over sanders dick. Idk how je can stand behind a coward who not only let the party walk all over him, he gave the establishment a huge block. Goes to shpw how inept he would have beem as president

Sanders had zero balls. He was a beta male and lost to a beatable woman. Trump is an alpha male, one of the most alpha in the world and he will smash hillary

Yeah. I have no idea how Democrats expect her to win against a guy who thrives off all of the things Hillary is weak on. She doesn’t do well against blue collar white people and independents, which she’s going to need for a win. Trump already had a field day with relatively tame record people like Rubio and Jeb, he would have no problem destroying a target as large as Hillary. What’s worse, her campaign alienated many, if not a majority of Sanders supporters, so she doesn’t even have the entire Democratic target audience like she should.

Johnson really needs to be on the debate stage. He’s going to be on the ballot in all 50 states; the 15% rule is an asinine way to keep “outsiders” from gaining momentum. Shit, after the Sanders rift, Stein could viably get there too.

the problem with Johnson is this…I have liked him in the past, I have no problem with his principles, that being said…the reality is Johnson really is not as well spoken, charismatic, or likeable. He has speech tendencies and issues with body language and poise. Johnson has been perpetually running for the presidency, raking in the small donors and has achieved very little. Heck, if he made it on the debate stage then he would be an easy target for Trump for being a perennial loser

i have distrusted Trump’s “good” judgement ever since i saw the interior decoration of his apartment.

http://www.idesignarch.com/inside-donald-and-melania-trumps-manhattan-apartment-mansion/

the ugliest tackiest shit i’ve ever laid eyes on.

looks like something decorated by my old italian grandma from Naples.

if he doesnt even know how to decorate his apartment…do you really want him making bigger decisions that affect your life?

Tim Kaine is Hillary’s VP guy.

What makes him a good pick?

still better than trump right?

#nevertrump because god forbid somebody who doesn’t fit the norm be president. We survived when Nixon was president, and we as sure fucking survived when Regan was president as well.

still voting 3rd party

Some reading on Kaine: http://nyti.ms/2a41nHQ

Yeah, Sanders supporters aren’t going to vote for this ticket. Left is right, right is left, and so on. Congrats to Dems for going center-right after having a pile of far-left independents delivered to them. Fucking idiots.

Both Nixon and Reagan had political experience before becoming presidents.
