I understand that Republicans think that the government is too big and that they don’t wanna pay for any type of social programs.
But,
Is 6 weeks of paid maternity leave the hill you wanna die on? Considering that you are already taking the stance that is pro life and you want people to raise their children to be better, you’re not willing to do something to encourage more mothering?
Really? Out of all the things you could do to promote social behaviors, this is literally one that has a significant amount of positives. Mind you, I think it should be longer than that but holy shit man, the amount of times conservatives find themselves juggling their beliefs is hilarious.
Why should the Government be paying for maternity leave?
Being pro-life doesn’t mean pro-welfare. Be responsible and don’t have kids if you can’t afford the time off.
I am fine with it as long as the employer doesn’t have to cough it up, take it out of what they pay in to disability/SSI/unemployment. They already take substantial money out of your check for time off contingencies.
Government acts like their employer is supposed to be their full time social worker, a simple hiring you have to send a phone book sized pamphlet of paperwork to the government as it is.
Hiring someone so you have less work, turns in to a part time job in of itself.
People used to not have this problem when women stayed home and you could support a family on one income, all women in the work place has done is inflate the economy to requiring two incomes.
I don’t feel the obligation to subsidize women’s rebellion against biology.
You don’t get to have it all, especially when you expect other people to fund it.
