A few raging demon setups.
The second one seems to be a really good flipkick bait. Against Law you can just punish him starting with cr.hp or whatever you prefer. It doesn’t work vs Gief’s lariat though…

Great stuff, man. It’s good to see the Akuma meta-game is evolving in a way. I’ll be trying to work on some stuff for this game now that I am free from exams…period (for now actually.)

Updating that match-up thread seems to be a priority at the minute what with it still being at pre-patch standard and all as well as starting the DLC and some old characters, that I missed out. So I ask the forum, who should I try to cover next?

Although I must apologize if the stuff I’m making takes a while to be produced. As well as sorting out real life stuff such as job hunting in this economy as it is right now, I’ll be juggling both Smash Bros. Brawl and TTT2 due to up and coming tournament events for it. So I’m just saying please bear with me if stuff comes out too slowly.

You dont have to go into such great detail like you always do in MU thread. Just keep it simple. We can slowly add more info over time.

Personally I’d like to see bob next. Hes a very big threat imo.

Also i learned from sai that if you use a button assigned as quick combo 1 (which is lk+hp) with nothing in it, you can use that for raging demon. It also doesnt give you proximity guard which makes it even better than doing raging demon manually. This makes stuff like tick demon and dash demon even easier and more consistent.

Whoa so that’s how Saionide did the close lk tick demon, pretty sick. But which button would you use for the quick combo? Maybe I should just learn to press 3 punches or kicks simultaneously.

Yup. Atm im on pad :confused: so it’s R3 but if i were back on stick i would be using one of the triple punch or kick buttons. I never use them anyway.

@OZLeon @Rc_ON What safe jumps exist for Akuma? I’ve been trying DF palm after a sweep but no dice. Does the non-DF dive kick still work?

People keep saying he has some amazing wake-up tech but I’m not seeing it!

instant cmd dive kick after sweep safe jumps 5f reversals. forward throw dashx2 super jump i think safe jumps 5f reversals but i never use that.

saionide is the tech man for akuma. although i dont really have many setups i do use some of his from time to time. like f.throw, jump forward fireball, if they roll you can meaty them, if they dont they have to block the air fireball. theres also ending a combo in ground bounce cl.hk and then cancel it into hk demon flip palm which gives you a ton of time to setup something like cross up air fireballs or setup a ambiguous setup.if the opponent rolls they’ll roll the other way. instead of doing a demonflip you can store a charge in the corner which will make akuma’s overhead juggle which you can combo afterwards.

I haven’t found any decent safe jumps yet. How do you do the cross up fireball? I never really played Akuma in SF4 :frowning: I guess it’s with a diagonal super jump but I never get it right.

I believe that it’s Tiger Knee Motion ( D,DF,F,UF) + Light Punch.

I assume that you know how to do it already but just in case. The way I do it is to buffer the QCF motion on the ground, most likely during something like holding ‘b’ or ‘db’ and then I input the ‘uf’ motion + punch during the jump.

If done correctly, Akuma should do it the moment he leaves the ground.

Generally, it’s best to do this after a DF > Palm knockdown or even Cl St.HK > CADC. Since those two options recover the least out of all of your hard knockdown options.

EDIT: Oh and no offense to anyone here or the actual person themselves but who is this Saionide person?

Thanks a lot for the explanation :slight_smile: I will try this Asap. I don’t know much about Saionide. I watched a few replays though… he got an insane Akuma. Really inspired me. He is on Srk too.

saionide is an akuma/law player. he picked up akuma in 2013 (see last page).

@Rc_ON Since we use the same characters…mind sharing your gem setup? Chances are I’m not maximizing my damage through gems.

Damn I forgot to check the gems. I will do so later. I’m not using any damage gems except for the scrubby +20% attack damage on super art for Lars. Lars got two meter gems and the super art gem. Akuma two meter gems and a defense +20% after getting hit by 8 normal attacks I believe.

Why not use the damage cut gem that activates when your opponent lands a 5 hit combo on you? It’s the best defense gem in the game imo.

I guess that proves that I haven’t put much thought into my gem set. I’m quite happy with the meter gems though. I’m gonna check that damage cut gem when I get back.

Damage cut gems are superior to defense percentage gems. For you to shave off 80 on a combo with a 20% defense gem, you’d have to eat a 400 combo. You don’t have to worry about that with damage cut gems.

That makes sense time to change it up.

Akuma: has 205 and 207 for meter building.

Lars: 205 and 214 for meter as well.

Akuma’s empty jump raging demon is godlike online. I have never seen anyone avoid it while playing online. A+, crown doesnt matter. They all fall for it. Its guarenteed 300 damage when you need it.

If they do another update, i really dont think Akuma needs anything. I like the suggestion some ppl made about making his hp srk always connect after the first hit landed. Because right now its a pretty useless anti air. Most of the time i only land one or 2 hits off of it even when i timed it deep. And then half the time you trade because of those ridiculous jumping attacks from the tekken side. So i dont use it in a real match. cr.HP is my go to anti air.

Leave his teleport and air fireball as is. The world doesn’t need more lame Akumas.

I think he’s already the best shoto. But theres really no reason why he has the lowest health in the game given his poor solo damage output.

Give him 50 health and fix his hp srk anti air and he’ll be good to go.

I love me some traded srks. You get over 300 solo if you do trade and over 400 with 1 bar. I’ve never used HP srk to AA just for that great damage.
