Ok, so after getting out poked by nearly every character on the Tekken side, I’m going to say that Akuma is clearly a zoner. He has big damage, but no clear way of comboing into Super aside from the corner which really limits his damage in this game. It’s hard enough to get clean punishes that he can get big damage off of.
So far, the only way I have to get into Team super is either TC into it, or be tagged in and low forward into it.

As for tag in continuation, unless your in the corner the most damaging thing to do is cr. strong st. Fierce into fierce dp.
I wish he could actually use his super outside of the corner, but I guess that means I need to push my opponent into the corner to actually do this.
I still cannot understand how demon works. I walk right up to people and demon and they jump it all the time.

For demon to land you have to be very close to them. and they have to jump before the flash to avoid being grabed.
the best set up so far is sweep demon flip OS demon. if the palm wiff you have a good chance to land demon. You can also kara demon with the overhead but you have to be close enough to land it.

Yeah, there are a few things I definitely don’t understand with this character.

  1. When do you use the DF Dive Kick?
  2. Palm?

It seems like the dive kick is good if you can predict a fireball, but that’s always risky. Are his fireballs better than AE? It feels like they’re better though I cannot say with 100% certainty. If he’s going to stay a zoner then I’d certainly request some buffs, as Ryu is clearly the top shoto–and top character?–so far.

+Safer air hadous to get in?
+Better ground fireball recovery?

I don’t know, what does everyone think? Also, we gotta test that punish on cr. mk xx hadou recovery. That’s his basic footsie tool, shit is gonna get ugly!

All demon flips can be cancelled into EX air hadou. I claim the HK version.

Can’t you go into a demon flip hold after a knockdown and charge it to an ex to keep pressure even if they tech roll?

nevermind… I just tested it and it looks like even if you do an ex it will not turn him around if they forward tech while you are charging. Its weird… he tracks them but he will be facing the same direction he was facing before the tech rolled so all your moves will whiff lol. Also you can jump out of raging demon from a roll

Akuma has some pretty slick things you can do against people who like to forward tech.

cr.mp, cr.fpxx LK Tatsu, cr.mp xx MP Shoryu, Forward Dash, cr.lp whiff, jump back into either j.mk or HK Tatsu (the other ones can probably be used as well, but I haven’t tested and wanted to share before class)

It’s pretty ambiguous where Akuma will land, and I think you can choose which side when done correctly.

I don’t know if you guys noticed but demon flip K does not force standup anymore. :frowning:

For example with Julia her c.LK can chain into launcher on block.

The fireball has always been -4 in SF4, but often the opponent was too far out of range to do anything significant.

Hey guys I’m looking for some bnbs for Akuma.

Basic BnB will be something along the lines

s.HP > LK.Tatsu > s.HP > HP.SRK > Tag

Going to main Ogre and Akuma. As a tekken player I really missed Ogre, one of my fave characters back in the old days. Unfortunately, as I play Dhalsim in SSF4, If have no idea if Akuma will work well with him. Do you guys think these two will have good synergy?

I’ve got a nice bnb with Gouki & Bison as a team.

cr. lp > st.hp > LK. tatsu > st. hp > HP Srk > Tag (Bison) jump forward hell attack > cr. mk > Knee press nightmare.

I know it’s kinda a Bison combo, but Gouki’s bnb sets it up
