Just curious, I joined the group, but where is the schedule posted if it is closed? Seems like it wasn’t open this past Friday but nothing about it on the wall? I’m planning on coming Friday, just don’t want to be the one guy who doesn’t know if it is closed.
I usually post in the group if anything is happening. If there’s no sessions I’d make the post ‘no sessions today due to xyz’ Other than that it’s Sundays and Fridays for now.
I’m interested in going this Friday. Does it look like there’s going to be a session this week?
There should be a session tomorrow, feel free to stop by
I think I’m stopping by tomorrow. See you there sk
Does it start @ 7 like Sundays?
Yes, 7 pm is the ideal start time on Fridays and Sundays.
m16ghost: Great, I’ll see you there as well!
ok, I’m out of work at 5 so I’ll have plenty of time to kill I suppose.
Does anyone meet up to eat or anything before this all starts?
What time will this go on to? I was thinking showing up after 10 p.m.
Sometimes, some people show up really early, so you might even be able to get casuals in at 5. I’m usually there by 6, and I always see at least a pair playing on a TV. There’s a dollar pizza store across the street, so if you’re looking to get something to eat for cheap, you can go there. There’s also other restaurants in the area.
Razor: I think it’ll go on until midnight or so. I usually leave at 11 PM, and a lot of people are still there when I leave.
Yeah the dollar pizza place is GDLK :D! There’s also a Falafel spot on the same block, and/or around the corner, also a belgian fries spot which everyone goes to and gets ridiculous long lines!
I want to stop by today after work. Only problem is that I don’t have my stick with me.
People borrow sticks there all the time.
Midnight is so early to close. I’ll try making it earlier. I need some warm ups before ECT.
Cool.
(gasp!) Your…avatar…so…blinding…
what is the earliest I can show up? and where exactly am I going when I arrive at the address?
Okay, so I went this Friday. Bottom line: nice place to get some casuals in. With the exception of the owner, everyone was extremely friendly and it’s a nice atmosphere. I was only there until 8:30 (had to leave early because of a deadline at work), but I enjoyed it immensely.
It was my first time playing Street Fighter since Street Fighter 2. I just started looking into competitive play and preordered SF4:AE, but I haven’t had a chance to get a feel for the game until now. Despite this, the gamers I played with were really friendly and patient. They kicked my ass repeatedly, but they were not jerks like other venues I’ve been to.
blakkphire22 was an awesome host, overly accommodating and nice. He really went above and beyond just because I paid a measly $5 bucks to be there. The gamers were nice too. Unfortunately for me, for the short time I was there, it seemed like everyone was really into Mortal Kombat (which I don’t mind, but I’m not a fan of MK). If I stayed around longer, that might have changed since more people were on the way.
I’d like to see a regular place in NYC grow, so more people should go and check this place out. I just hope the owner stays the hell out of his own place. Where blakkphire22 was above and beyond, the owner was below and within. Not even going into him yanking other people’s wires out of “his outlets,” he rudely proclaimed that joysticks are for hosts (or friends?), when I was trying to get a joystick for that very person he was referring to. The owner told his friend who was using a pad that he has joysticks in the back, but the friend didn’t hear so I told the friend at the owner’s behalf.
I was extremely offended when the owner retorted that I can’t get a joystick because 1. he assumes I don’t know that if one uses a joystick, they need to bring their own, and 2. that I’d be trying to get a joystick for myself when I was just helping him relay his message. He’s just a rude and unhappy person overall.
It wasn’t a bad place, imo either. I was there after work. Approximately 6:30ish and stayed about an hour. I guess I kind of felt weird being that I was the old man standing on the side. lol. I ended up purchasing a game and a pad and walking out of the store (right before the casuals sessions began). Otherwise, the guys there are extremely hilarious and really friendly. Great place as well. Next time I go, I’ll be sure to bring my stick with me.
On a side note: Wonder if it’s possible to hold a tournament there. Doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be streamed though. I’m more notoriously known for throwing online tournaments and have 2 years experience in running tournaments smoothly. Maybe a monthly or biweekly?

Mad lulz at mk9 popular yesterday. That might have been the first time since launch 8 bit had a MK crowd. myself and some others on TYM.com been trying to get MK in the rotation there.
Overall if you have a game you want to play and there is a group for it, it will get burn. Right now its mostly AE and mvc3 with some 3s and tekken peppered in every so often.
I myself would love for HDR to get thrown in shrugs

hey guys what’s up sorry about the other dude he gets moody and we try to keep him in the back. After a while he just calms down.
Yeah we run tourneys it’s the battle of 8bit we’re just trying to figure out a schedule that works since Guard Crush is running every week now.
Just hit me up on my email if you wanna set something up phire at clgamer dot com.
We just gotta find where the mk players are hiding.
Hey guys, I’m considering going to a game session today at 8bit, I’ve only been there once before and it was a cool place. However, I have a dilemma since I only have a PS3 stick. Should I reconsider going? It’s unreasonable to expect people to be willing to lend sticks, unless there’s a house stick that can be borrowed.
