The 7th Inning Stretch a.k.a. MLB 2k7 Season thread (Fantasy baseball included)

let the raging demon begin.

First time in the baseball thread.

But you know what I’ve been thinking about the Red Sox?

If Ellsbury keeps this up, Boston got 4 great ‘rookies’ this year.

Pedroia, Ellsbury, Okajima and Matsuzaka.

Sure, they will have to replace Schilling next year.

But look at their ages.

Beckett is 27, Youklis is 28

Manny is 35, and Ortiz is 31. Not bad, but they are getting up there, esp considering Ortiz’s knee problems.

Any reason they can’t keep this up? I don’t see any.

Yes, he is considered an MLB rookie.

Ichiro was a rookie when he won almost every award possible his first year.

As far as playing in MLB is concerned, yes.

Yeah, both Dice-K and Okajima are Japan pros turned “rookies”

Kinda an embarrassment of riches huh?

Btw… Why are so many bats breaking? That’s like the 6th one in 2 games.

Sox’re going to have to replace Schilling and Wakefield next season. We don’t know the severity of Wakefield’s injury, so it’s possible that we’ll lose him. And Schilling’s going to want a multi-year deal, which I just can’t see us giving him. Julian Tavarez is up for a contract year, and he may or may not end up re-signed, but I could definitely see a mid-tier NL team offering him a starting job, and he really wants that again. Kason Gabbard is in Texas, watching his former team in the World Series as the player who they traded him for (Gagne) is an absolute last-ditch pitcher and the guy who he was in line to take the job from (Javier Lopez) just plain sucks (5 ER allowed in 4 innings this series). Ouch.

So, the Sox are left with Beckett, Matsuzaka, and Jon Lester for people who’ve started this year. Lester still isn’t 100% after his cancer, and he has a pitch-himself-out-of-trouble style. Naturally that doesn’t work out well when we’re going to be wanting him to pitch 200 innings in a season. And this is compounded by the simple fact that he didn’t even pitch that well in the few games he did start.

Matsuzaka has a similar problem. The Sox went to a six-man rotation towards the end of this season, bringing in Clay Buchholz to start a few games, because Matsuzaka got just plain tired down the stretch. Obviously, this is a problem.

Clay Buchholz is going to be a strong candidate to be moved up to starter, as you’d expect. But even though he pitched well against the Angels before they were beasted by injuries, and got that no-hitter, he’s still questionable for an entire season.

So, the Sox are going to have to start dealing and dishing out the cash if they want to have any sort of decent starting roatation next season. Never mind having the powerhouse they had this season.

So yeah, I could definitely see the Sox missing the playoffs next season.

Cuz they’re pitching inside alot.

Breaking news: A-Rod’s a Yankee no more. He opts out of his contract.

oh snaps. id lol if he became a sox…no like reallly hord. i’d lol.

Oh shit, A-Rod is a greedy bitch. It’s confirmed.

Oh Lord…please, please, please Theo Epstein…don’t sign him. Please keep Mike Lowell…please…

Seriously, though, ARod’s cursed.

OH SHIT U SERIOUS!!! AROD TO THE SAWKS!!!:lovin::sweat::sweat:

Hopefully the White Sox. Seriously, I don’t want ARod to be a Red Sox player…

:sad::sad::sad:

Fixed for you

you needed this to confirm that?

It would be cool…white sox, son!

White Sox will never deal with Scott Boras so there’s no chance.

lol didnt realize white sox made bank like that.

A-Rod is going to the Angels. They have that much money to cough up. The Sox do not. For the Sox, it’s just not worth the money. Just look at who they’re winning the World Series with on 3rd base. MIKE LOWELL. And the dude has been nothing but clutch for the Red Sox all season.

If anything, I can see Lowell becoming a Yankee since the Sox aren’t re-signing him(so they claim at the moment).

Nah they just said the Soxs are offering him a 3 year contract.

damn, if arod goes to the bosox that would crazy, with the rookies, ortiz, manny, youk, damn more rings to come…even though lowell might get resigned due to what hes done…hey shit happens in baseball, i didnt think damon was gonna leave then he went to the yanks.
