As someone with a pretty consistently bad connection, I feel like there’s definitely fewer ‘teleporting all over the place’ matches since the patch dropped, but twitchy stuff like Makoto’s dash in, or Alex’s stupid stomp (or half of the things Alex does) are still pretty impossible to react to.

YOU USED THAT JOKE BEFORE,
WHO WROTE YOUR LAST POST YOUR BABY GIRL
she liked the home key row, that’s good.[/details]
Played a bunch of people in the 115-190 range and didn’t enjoy a lot of those this time. Lowest 117 was still variable during play on just 1 delay. Don’t care to go higher than delay at 1 or past 185 ping
Half startup or more like half recovery mashing whiff throw, can’t touch em suddenly different spacing or that whiff throw turned into their sweep/poke was pretty weird.
Hey don’t make me send my son to kick your ass. He’s been wanting to kick someone’s ass, got me in the chin a few times when we were playing the other day.
Come on 360 patch! GIBE BONIES
hope you new guys stick around. 3s is a sick game!
I wonder what happened to some of the guys who started around when I did/when OE came out. Poe and Doyoudigworms, those guys were cool.
I think Worms is still playing, actually. I haven’t seen him posting much since we pretty much tore apart OE, but he’s on my XBL list and it seems that his wins keep changing, so he must still be playing.
Hey guys a couple things I want to mention. i can’t be bothered to read all the posts in this thread so sorry it this has already been touched upon.
These are all observations from my experience on the ps3 version.
-
winner in multiplayer mode cannot switch characters. The nice feature of multiplayer was the winner could effortless switch characters. Since this is no longer the case, everyone is better off playing in arcade mode to at least automatically have the correct stages during fights.
-
sounds are still “strange” and differ from the arcade and ps2 version. I’m talking about the hit sound when doing special/super moves. I can’t recall if the most famous trash can shoryu was fixed.
-
input lag. this may be purely because it was on the ps3 version and not on a CRT. all I know is haven’t felt this problem on xbox 360 version before on the same/Similiar monitor.
#2 is negligible, #1 can be a nuisance but #3 is unexceptable. I have zero interest on playing on the ps3 version again after my recent experience with it.
PS3 inputs feel heavy to me too. Isotopez and I are running lag tests on the current version today, compared to 360 and CPS3. we’ll post what we find soon.
I can’t think of a way to test if they added innate delay to the online mode, and that’s why connections feel smoother. I hope that’s not the case.
What do you guys have your settings/filter on?
I remember playin on a different PSN. The difference in settings played a huge role in the input lag.
CRT, no GGPO delay, no filters.
Jesus, people actually think like this? Always having to go to the same stages in the arcade version isn’t a perk. Especially if you use Elena. I don’t, but…her stage is so hard on the eyes, I avoid it whenever I can. Also, Twelve’s stage is the best and I’d never see it otherwise.
I prefer correct character stages. feels kinda silly playing Chun vs Yun in Brazil.
Chun and Yun / Yang are the other two in my bottom 3 of stage preference. And I sub Yun.
As long as no one ever beats me with Elena, I’m happy.
Their appears to be a glitch with the color bars they missed at least on ps3. The color bar you get is dependent on the color you choose not the color you get. So if both people pick jab ken (aka best ken) both peoples color bar will be the same. Even though one one of them will get purple ken
*edit only seem to occur when watching other players in the lobby. Not sure if it happens consistently
Also Ibuki is impossible to see online
How much Elena do you even see?
Picking Twelve stage is easy to get to and for all intents & purposes, it feels less laggy than the major one Yang stage. Necro is the same thing with that pretty fun 1 pixel snow, don’t know if that would affect much but it could just being an extra thing to keep track of and render.
Like Alpha 2’s Birdie bathroom, the opening door, and other characters in the back added to the lag felt during custom combos, jed has a youtube clip showing it fixed.
These are my settings
View: Arcade Cabinet
Filters: None
Scan Lines: Off
No GGPO delay
Played 2 sets last night on PSN, one with AQH who was playing from Germany (about 70ms) this was mostly smooth but had lag spikes, this is unavoidable if the connection is jumpy i imagine. Played Makaveli in Switzerland (about 50ms) this was very very smooth. PS3 OE is till buggy tho, the sound kept dropping from the menu and after each game it would freeze for a short while
Also the ping numbers are definetly doubled for some odd reason, this isn’t the case in Darkstalkers maybe the XBL version will not have the double ping problem
oh yeah that’s definitely true. a lot of the PS3-specific bugs have not been fixed. random freezes after matches (even if the opponent doesn’t DC) and the music cutting out.
the rollbacks get pretty nuts at higher pings. like I’ve seen someone whiff a move, I whiff punish it, only to have it rollback the entire thing and he actually did a raw super and now I’m eating it. or I’ll see someone jump back, then it rolls to they actually jumped forward and now they’re right on top of me about to jump in with an attack. never saw anything this crazy on 360 with the old netcode, but once you get past 300 ping (which if Deemo is right is actually ~150) I’ve seen a fair amount of stuff like this. some moves show zero startup frames.
so I guess the gist of it is lower pings are probably smoother than they used to be, and play the high pings at the risk of your emotional well being. I’m curious whether anyone else is having similar experiences at 300 (reported) ping and up, or if this is something you can only experience by being really far away from everyone.
"jumped back when he actually jumped forward"
That’s hilarious. I’d be so salty.
Sorry XBL players, from the looks of things on PSN, there will be no avoiding ufcgym.
