Don’t watch this. Boring.
Remy himself gets bored at 72 timer round 2 with the yawn during crouching, no idea what triggers that. Know it randomly comes out, sound clip.
But cheer me on if you have to see it thru to the end, I can sorta do rapid LOV…
Art did not try, walk back inbetween c’mon man. If I am bad at it I will put jab or MP inbetween at least. And I forced the action especially round 3 get it over with, saved at least a minute from a staredown Remy mirror!

Color choices with stage makes it hard to see.
89 Round 2, already crossed up, Q back MP is ridiculous anti air then.
91 Round 3, Chop Super, my crutch stuffed on way up, sit down Makoto.

Match taking forever, to 50 seconds every round.
83 Round 2, could I have gotten close MP juggle?
Another when I jumped in chicken stomp during SA2 kept her up there, maybe HK could’ve reached.
78 Round 3, is my favorite part. That Makoto dojo tree. Oro on a ladder.

Hugo Dropkick turn around state hitstun round 3, 72 on timer is amazing.
Can Alex even, charge during that?
Wow that image preview is amazing.

No more Juggles, only Jungle.
Connection held up thru most of these. Didn’t like our Urien mirror but that was the 1st one and he won that fair and square. Runaway 12 he won too. Runaway, from Dudley makes sense though.
charge during turn around state?
charge has nothing to do with the status of the character afaik. nothing in the game will stop you from charging. if it felt like it, most likely you were charging, didnt realize, moved a direction and started charging again but overcharged the first part and so lost the charge entirely. or took too long to start charging again, or any other partition goof.
In the spirit of C-Royd and Louiscipher stomp OE videos, I have made a video mini-series “How to win with Akuma online.” This series is not only a tutorial but also a sampling of the character and flavor of OE ranked mode itself. I will note that there are times when I get away from RH tatsu to do “something else” and generally I’d say this is a bad idea and I usually get punished for it. Ranked Online Akuma is at his best when he is RH tatsuing.

I saw a funny video where Ryu, during a small overhead mix up game preceded by a jump fierce over a fireball landed an overhead strong that seemed to cancel into toward fierce.
I have never seen anything like this. Any testimonials?

I hadn’t watched the rest of it, but now upon finishing it I noticed he was messing with the dipswitches. We’re allowed to mess with the dipswitches for online matches?
yeah if you give ryu strong -> fierce target combo he’s fucking godly. with the system direction i mean.
and lol this video is insane.
short short SWEEP 3 hit combo.
Didn’t think about the charge possibility or not until watching it again, and giving it a gameplay function rather than only, “cool (prob only to me) shit happened in the match” timestamp. Was just pressing buttons as you can plainly see, to get back in and mess up a less experience with Hugo player, though he does like that Hugo.
I wonder how much of that will work after your new internet, Bob!
LK color Akuma, very Online, sorry Funland color choice.
That’s probably an offline local saved match, with the video replay allowed to be put Online, without it being marked as a dipswitch changed match or people knowing the difference. Unless you play some 3s and know the dipswitches, from playing… console 3s too.
Marvel, Darkstalkers combos. When many a bad habit is to go cr LK MK HK in a row anyway.
– All Supers allowed, yeah. Forgot it even changes the Icon to SA3, from SA2 there after you activate, haven’t done dipswitch menus in forever and have not even seen the OE one.
hm I think it’s universal based on how often I see it. probably good online no matter the connection. I’ve played a few good Akumas but most just do what I did plus air fireballs. demon flips if they wanna get fancy.
“Good”
Akumas?
Tell the word per minute guy to add to watching Uraken/Nomoto/Yuki Otoko/Kuroda match vids.
Also don’t ever make the Chun one. Please let them continue the madness of dF HK did it hit? my chun is getting hit? Fuck it, Lightning legs. crJab Kikoushou.
I had dreams of doing Chun, Elena, Ibuki, Urien, Ryu, and Alex. I’m pretty sure I can recreate the flavor of those characters in a way that they only exist online. think I’ll have to cut it short though. I’m not C-Royd and I can’t yell “FIERCE FIERCE FIERCE” so that everyone watching knows it’s a joke.
Alright guys. I had a long night. Lots of thinking, some doing but indeed lots of thinking. Had some good matches with friends and randoms alike, I think there were randoms in there, (Not too sure who was playing in some of the videos. I might not even be in all of them.) suffice it to say that here is some good footage of a brief exploration of ggpo 3rd strike online. It’s not Japanese level play yet but with some time it will be and hopefully with this new upcoming patch we can get some real exploration going.
There’s a lot so I hope you guys at least watch some of them. Pass them around if you can too so’s maybe we can hook some new players. I’m going to be “dissecting” the matches one by one over time but I wanted to share the footage meanwhile. It might help create some parallels and allow you guys the opportunity to expand on whatever ideas you see here.

WHY IS THERE SO MUCH 12?!
I have been trying to encase each media tag within a set of spoiler tags in order to separate the videos into different cascades but it won’t separate them. It keeps placing them all within the same main one.
As for twelve, it’s part of an ongoing series I’m going to document on a blog. I’ll be, basically, learning a character I never learned in this game, Twelve or Oro(with a splash of Q). I think I have a good knack for him now, thanks to Tebbo and yourself (Ryan too but he thinks my Twelve sucks. What he doesn’t know is that I’m da bess.). That’s why you’ll see me trying out lots of stuff, mid-match, to get a feel for the character. Tebbo and I always have discussions on meta properties, like momentum, and the weird and weirdest ways they apply themselves mid-match.
I’ll also be doing my best to show the principles of what I guess could be called my “style” of play. I wrote a big post on facebook about it but I didn’t want to copy it over directly. Here it is:
thats not me dood. i dont use denjin or that color, ever.
This was in reply to a post by someone, who will remain unnamed, that said something along the lines of “got called dishonorable by random dude who lost to my karakusa mixup”. What’s dishonorable mean to you?
it led to some posts by other unnamed posters that basically condoned peacing out scrubs no matter what because honor is non-existent and all you should want to do is win.
To which I replied some other unimportant stuff that I touch on later on anyway.
Eventually they asked me to explain myself and so I did.
@Everyone
I’m not asking you to hold their hands. I’m not asking you to do anything, really. Beat the living shit out of them. Do it, but don’t use tactics that set higher level players apart from the scrubby ones.
If I were going to teach someone how to play 3s, which I have done in the past (and well, if I might add), I would not start by using a tactic like Makoto karakusa mix-up simply because then they wouldn’t know what to really expect from a real makoto. I want to teach them the game, so I’d let the game teach them what to expect and not me. And they are still only learning the game. You know this if they STILL believe things like option select karakusa (that’s what you did, right? that’s what you’re supposed to do otherwise your options are just as risky as theirs would be in that situation.) and multiple shoryus are unbeatable.
Remember they are just climbing another mountain, not realizing that the weather is constantly changing on this one. The terrain is never the same unlike SF4 and Marvel 3 which is probably the game that brought them to us.
To touch on letting the game teach them how to play. Every action has a consequence. No negative connotation attached. Consequence in the sense that something always happens whenever you commit to an action. Even parry fishing moves you closer to your opponent(forward parry) or commits you to a easily parryable state (low parry). By having them focus on “Hawr TA BOET mataco Karakusa” they are going to be averting their eyes from the entire picture to focus on that cool looking shadow in the background.
You can go ahead and use your karakusa’s and repeat uppercuts. It’s your prerogative. Just don’t expect players, like me, that like to help the game teach others how play to stay quiet about how your methods are just pushing people away.
Given SF4 and Marvel3 popularity, we know that these players don’t want to climb everest simply for the bragging rights or satisfaction of having achieved something so difficult. So they look for tools that will make the climb easier, they want a default tool set. The game has that tool set and I’m quite certain learning how to beat karakusa isn’t part of that set. That is only going to help them learn how to beat karakusa. That can come later.
I have 3 basic fundamentals that I try to instill in every player during a match.
- Mobility. I show them that I can move around them without just running away all day. Hence the reason you’ll see me walk up to you when I know you’re going to jump.
- Strikes. I show them that there is more than one way to approach any situation.
- Mix-up. I show them that the strikes don’t need to make up my entire offense. A clever mind can be just as powerful.
Maybe this is a “bad” way of teaching BUT it provides results well and relatively quickly without pigeon holing a player. It provides variety, and an insight into the minds of players that are there for more than just that BIG ASS KO! The players that love this game. The players that learn what makes her giggle, what makes her blush. Though, that BIG ASS KO has always been pretty funny to me and I like to laugh.
Fuck your mortgage and your forest lawn. It might have been Guiseppe then. I was wondering why you kept waiting full screen without doing anything but I couldn’t come up with a reason.
Above post follow up:
As for the “The resources are there” comment. No they’re not. Those are just videos of scrubs on OE scrubbing eachother out with random guesses and wake up parries and Japanese play which, if the dude thinks karakusa loops are broken, is just going to look like random ninjas flying all over the place.
If you mean tutorials, once again, let the game teach you. Tutorials are helpful after you have learned from the game, otherwise you are just doing mindless things and not really realizing what it is you are trying to accomplish.
follow up:
If you want to keep using karakusa mix up, use it. If they complain, simply reply and tell them:
You can jump out of the next karakusa once the hayate combo ends but then
You can be hit out of the air for another reset situation where you are pretty much back in the same place.
You can dash back, but risk taking a punch to the chest and then resetting the situation again.
You can uppercut(or any other quick/invincible attack) but then risk being parried, via option selects, and being put back into the same situation.
You can block if you think I’m going to do another string of the hayate combo to keep you from jumping out but then you risk being karakusa’ed again.
Then stop there and go on with your business. There are obviously more possible solutions but you just want them to see that they have choices.
You did your part. Now you can feel like a boss knowing that you are helping this game grow. Not by complaining about an “inferior player”'s comments towards you after a win you most likely didn’t even need and committing this entire facebook page to a circle jerk. We don’t need that, this is 3rd strike.
I wasn’t handed anything in this game. In fact I think I’m where I am now because I put so much into this game. 6 years of pure arcade play(okay, okay I played console too and lived a regular life on the side but still!) with great players that didn’t really do much more than simply beat on me.
After all that work, I realized that there is a better way to learn the game than by simply having played a lot. I didn’t do training mode, because I don’t think a dummy can teach me anything. Hit confirms are better learned in an actual match because it’s not “random”, as they say, it’s calculated and that paradigm is a hell of a lot different than thinking “I’ve got to hear this! Or see that!”. You gotta sense that shit, and the computer just doesn’t give off those vibes or descript patterns like a real human opponent does.
oh i see.
