If you mean cardis razel, yeah man, last time I played him I took a beating. Mutant xp is cool too.
I couldn’t get the upload to work, but just imagine a video of me spamming stomp with Alex over and over until I win over JohnPwns. Also I landed the RH tackle Stungun “trap”.
How is JohnBlws in like the the top 5 Akumas on XBL? That dude just griiiiiiiiiiiinds on scrubs i guess.
Ahhhh, ranked matches and rank points… what an amusing 3s junk food.
Where da vid at OMGduck?
I uploaded it but it’s not showing up. Nice.
So after two months of trying to find someone to do a long set with me I finally found a good player who was also nice enough to do it and put it up on his channel. I play Urien/Denjin Ryu but I’m still learning fundamentals for this game. Please take a look and maybe shed some new light on my gameplay because I don’t want to be another johnpwns

Couple of notes:
-
playing horrible jump-happy people on XBL has conditioned me to throwing waaaay too many metallic spheres and I need to cut back
-
I’m still learning the aegis so bear with my frequent missing of opportunities or moments where it looks like I’m just pressing cr.lp next to a downed opponent sometimes
-
I think I back off too much when I have the advantage, but I’m not sure how to press it as Urien,
dancing in and out of their knockdown is riskier than say if I was denjin ryu
Your Urien isn’t all that bad, to be honest. You seem to have a decent understanding of how he plays, and you’re also capitalizing on opportunities when given, such as the corner and also the occasional Unblockable setups. I do see that you have some bad habits like using EX Fireballs and raw Tackles: they’re not safe on block, especially against Shotos. Other than that, the occasional mistimed cr.LPs and not able to do TTH, you did alright. Most of the matches you just got outplayed.
Your opponent was really good though; I wonder who he is.
OSO doesn’t strike me as good at all. I’ve played him, and he’s mostly about random/wakeup supers and throwing trash around.
Hm. I guess it’s just a difference between watching a person and playing him.
There were several times where I felt like OSO really had my number. Particularly with his Hugo. Maybe its just my lack of quality experience against the lower tiers but I think he’s got a pretty solid Hugo. Also aku are there any easy, practical uses for ex aegis? I see a lot of players use it in high-level matches but I never seem to use it effectively.
Yeah, there are times when players will get gimmicked out from more experienced low-tier users. Eventually though you’ll catch on. Urien is a real bad matchup for Hugo; you just have to find better ways to keep him out without getting trapped in the corner yourself.
EX Aegis is used to make Tackles safer, since it has a 1frame startup and he recovers pretty much instantly from it. If they block or parry the Tackle, EX Aegis will stop them in their tracks. You get a high-low mixup right there if they block, or if they get hit by Tackle you can follow up with cr.LP->LK Tackle to tack on some more damage while staying close. It’s nice to use once they’re low on health, since you’re likely to get some type of damage in there.
There are other uses, such as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYkhLI-XBcI#t=6s’]extending a juggle after a throw or Headbutt, after UOH in the corner->EX Aegis combo(this one is character specific though), or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6hZKF5CcNQ#t=2m5s"]predicting an enemy escaping the corner, etc. But generally speaking it’s most valuable for making an unsafe move like Tackles much safer to use.
Pardon the double post, but I don’t feel like getting mad over SRK’s shitty post editing option. That UOH->EX Aegis combo followup can get character specific, but I’m not sure if the setup itself is too. I never practiced this(never felt the need to), and I can’t practice it now. I’ve seen it done on like 1/3 the roster(Chun, Yun, Makoto, Dudley, Akuma, Urien, Ryu, Alex, Hugo) but I dunno if it works on everyone.

cardis razel is pretty good but the best player I have played on live would have to be EatableTech.
Good ryu mirrors.
sorry, but i gotta cosign on this
I’ve played EatableTech a bit and he is very competent. Ryu mirrors eh… have you faced his chun?
Johanitto (sp?) is pretty good on XBL. He plays Dudley and Ryu and he wake up parries too much, but he’s all right beyond that. And that greenjoker24 leaderboard warrior guy is solid too, he plays (always green) Ryu.
Also if you run into BrownDog the Tweleve player, just pick Ken and spam DPs, he loves it.
Oh, I meant the mirrors riot guard posted.
I have played Etechs chun, yun, ken, makoto and dudley. All equally broken. His ryu has some serious zoning too.
Lol

This guy posted a video of my lame chun. LOL I feel so honored.
