Despite the beautiful graphics this is gonna be the most half ass fighting game of 09’ and let me tell u why

  1. 20 CHARACTERS ( less than half the characters then there was in KOF XI which was about 45) which def. means fan favorites wont be in this one, only popular ones. No K’, no Tung, no vanessa, kula, no oswald (we loved oswald) no tizoc, gato i mean cmo’n WHAT DA FUCK!! Its like makin Marvel vs Capcom 3 with 24 characters when it should be at least 65.

2.only one super move from what im seein (WTF most characters had like 3 at least). And theres no pause when doing the super move ( like super street fighter II).

  1. no quick shift system, meaning in a 3 vs 3 match u can’t swicth characters, taking away from strategy and 97% of combo possibilities (dont expect to see any good combo vids out of this game)

  2. $60 dollars for this shit, i dont think so.

Now dont get me wrong, I love the king of fighters just as much as I love street fighter but compared to kof XI this is a half ass quickie game. Id rather them delay the game and add more characters and more features. the game is being rushed if you ask me. I mean cmon 09 is supposed to be the year for fighting games and theres no room for half ass titles. this game is all beauty no personality if u ask me.

Except that there WAS a pause during supers in ST (albeit the window was small, but the action STILL paused during the super activation). I’d say it’s more like KOF '94-'96 in that aspect.

It’s been expected with the route they went for making sprites. So essentially it’s more of a brand new series than another KoF sequel using the same sprites.

and considering most new games get like 10 characters at first, I think for a first game 20 is pretty alright.

KOF XI had 10 year old sprites. This is a brand new effort that has more characters than BlazBlue and SFIV arcade version.

Watch the new vids. There IS super pause. It’s just that the screen doesn’t turn black or anything…yet.

The game definitely pauses now during supers, though.

Ok, I can already tell you haven’t played Street Fighter IV yet. (Just kidding! Although it is pretty half assed)

Everyone already posted about how they’re using new sprites and all, but I’ll go even further than that to tell you that SNK ISN’T EVEN FUCKING DONE MAKING THE GAME. You need a wake up call if you honestly think SNK is leaving it at 20 characters. Even now, SNK is still surprising us.

You’ve never played a KOF except for XI. Even if quick shift was in the game, I’m sure there would be more combo vids of your mom (if you know what I mean) than combo vids of the game.

But at what cost, in terms of development length? SFIV got announced in October 2007 and was released July 2008 arcade with 17 characters. That’s a nine month window, +/- a few weeks. KoF was announced… actually it was announced long ago but wasn’t unveiled until Feb 2008 and is going to be released April 2009 arcade with (as far as we know) 20 characters (19 if you count Ralf and Clark as one; I find it very disappointing that those two are still headswaps after all this time). That’s a 14 month window, for an additional 3 characters. And don’t forget that KoF started loooong before SFIV was in development. So the comparison is a bit off there.

Not that I think KoFXII was going to have a large cast or anything. It was simple logic that its cast would be drastically reduced from its predecessor since they were redrawing the sprites. Anyone who was expecting XII to have a cast remotely close to XI’s is an idiot. But what was not known, evidently not even by SNK themselves, was that the excruciating time-consuming process they chose would force them to reduce their numbers to even less than the most conservative estimates (surely no one expected KoFXII to ship with fewer characters than KoF94?), so that IS a bit of a downer.

That and no real story makes XII seem less like a game on its own and more like a demo for XIII.

Anyway, glad to hear the new CC stuff requires meter. But who thought it would be a good idea to turn KoF’s super meter into Samurai Shodown’s RAGE bar, minus the damage bonus?

first off anakron whatever the fuck that means, how can u call me ignorant for calling king of fighters XII half assed then u go call street fighter IV half assed,what a dumb fuck. unlike KOF XII street fighter IV is not breaking a game its only improving. only thing they really took out was parry and super arts from SFIII to stick to SFII roots. and SNK already finalized there were 20 characters in total due to spending all their time redrawing. And I said from what i saw it had only one super. i didnt watch much vids cus i lost interest fast. but if theres more than 1 than cool. my mistake. and no i havent played 95 ive played 2000 and up but kof XI is prolly the best in the series anyway so what does it matter which version i played. if it doesnt improve on the latest or greatest entry than its half assed.
