i think it just barely combod. but there was this lil interview on CF and they where talking about XII and tagging? i think they might have got it mixed up with XI? but anywayz, cant wait for the nexrt loketest. they say the game is 80% done while all the characters are in the game. so hopefully well get some new supers or moves added and some balance and tweaking. maybe a boss or 2 and an extra stage or 2.
IIRC Ash can combo his kick super.
Yeah, Ash’s flashkick super is fast enough to combo from lights; aka it’s really good.
ah, yes…I see what you mean.
I hope they increase the speed, and for god’s sake add some new K.O. animations.
Yes, the K.O animations do look pretty blah, compared to everything else. I’d even be happy if they just animated the things a bit better, or went back to details like Terry losing his hat when K.O., but doing something similar for each character.
In a perfect world, I’d like to see K.O. animations that are reciprocal to whatever kinda move beat you (burned clothing when beat by Fire, frizzed hair and melted items of metal when shocked by someone like Benimaru, slashed clothing when beat by those Orochi serpent hands…) … at least for supers!
That reminds me…for anyone that ever played Marvel Super Heroes…wasn’t it odd that Captain America was the ONLY character who’s clothing ripped if you KO’ed him for the match?
oh that’s another thing that’s been pissing me off
characters don’t get set on fire? weaksauce
i think actually adding hitstop would help more
we have a winnar
Sound effects go a long way toward adding impact too. I think 2003 and XI had some pretty weak hit/block sound effects. Gotta take it back to 97, 98, 99 with those bone crushing effects…
It’s like the difference between Shin Shoryuken in SF3:NG or Second Impact vs Shinshoryuken in 3S. NG and Second Impact sounded FEROCIOUS. 3S got watered down.
We can’t really hear the effects in these current KOFXII vids, but I hope they’re taking it old school…
95 K.O’s were the best
i really like the loud hitsounds of RBS and RB2. ah 95, that brings back some good memmories. the best kof of the old school era, and the first really great kof IMO.
I… don’t even remember that! That’s suprising, normally it’s the kinda thing I would. I can only fathom 2 reasons: It was something comic-specific at the time, or Capcom Japan really just wanted to tatter up an American flag indirectly…
I’m hoping this suggest that the flaming is more than just the usual “Turn all the sprites colors to various values of yellows and reds”.
The first trailer had it, didn’t it? Either they’ve removed it for the sake of showing off animations, or because Hitstop + Clashing would slow down the game, or make clashing not as noticeable.
I must say, I prefer Hitstop, as well.
Agreed. As the motions got faster, the sounds of attacks got more blah. This is one thing I loved overall in Maximum Impact… every throw sounded like it was shaking the entire earth, lol. Just as ridiculous as Goro’s Fist-in-air winpose causing a nuke-sounding explosion from his stomp.
Things like Tag systems and strikers probably would have a hard time working alongside solid hitstuns, and meaty sounds. Reasoning being that fast movement demands quickly ending cues. Older KoFs let each team member have their own moments in the spotlights (such as first up getting longest intros, last up getting dramatically awesome 95 style knockouts), and I know I’d prefer this style to come back in XII. And all future titles really… I’d rather strikers and tagging be relegated to optional bonus modes… but that’s just a personal desire.
95’s stage intro’s where also so awesome, while we’re speaking of 95… I mean, really, watching the water start to drip before going to the Psycho soldiers team’s stage, or that tree getting stuck by lightning, setting it on fire… back then, those ideas where quite awesome, and even now, I don’t think most games understand how such staging and setup can really make a game feel grand. (M.I. also did a decent job at alluding to this in their story modes… it did a lot of things I really appreciated, it appears…)
They should…for all the time put in on it, it looks like shit.
stage intros, that was really cool
if snk is so serious with this reborn thing, they should bring those back
that and shredding womens’ clothes with specials
SNK make it happen
you left out “your teammates on the sideline cheering when you land a hit, and wincing when you get hit”…
and it was only Yuri and King that got the shred because of Art of Fighting…and neither one of them is in XII as far as we know…
It was truly a sad day when this feature died in 99. Added so much personality to the game. I guess the whole striker system and tagging eventually forced them to change it…
But, I don’t see strikers or tagging in XII…
well if it were there in 99-2001 and 2003 - XI, it would have to work like the tagging in Kizuna Encounter…then all the gameplay would revolve around lockdown tactics…
new kof loketest @ 20th and 21st this month.
