Tilt opens at 10:30am
Damn, the west coast is beast.
I look forward to the videos.
Fixed
Same here, I was mad hype for this game when there was crazy vids on youtube about it. Problem is that after 2 weeks it just died down. Started noticing its many flaws. Hopefully the next revision will change that, but I doubt it.
EDIT: OUT ALREADY! Damn you guys better put some shit on youtube pronto!
agreed post vids and you get pos rep raped
so you wasnt bs-ing on cf, kusanagistyle? damn i cant wait to hear more about this shit from you.
also lord BBH, you the one from ng.com, right? iirc you had some good skillz in fighters right? try some shit tommorw and let us know what you think about it.
damn cant wait for th console release (cause there aint no cades here).
Im personally hoping that Chinatown Fair in NYC gets it soon.
musolini i can vouch for bbh skills in kof…he should be able to stunt on fools (hopefully…no pressure)
its just that most people in ng.com just talked the talk. only some of them walked the walk and could really play. from what i remember bbh was one of the players iirc. same for gilley and lwk. theres a few more but these the ones that come to my mind.
so now im actually expecting some new shit like new posibilities from the CC and new combos in general from the vids tommorow. if i had a private jet id visit you guys, but since i aint rich shit aint happening. then again not being rich still beats being poor:wgrin:.
also somebody better bring a good quality cam there. not too much 2 ask, right?
I was mostly being facetious with that comment, of course; arcade XI doesn’t have Mai and I enjoy it as much as I do '98/2k2. (Shit, I don’t even play Mai in the home version; I get plenty of enjoyment/asswhupping out of Gato/Kula/Clark.)
The boobs, to me, are really kind of the icing on the cake to me more than the cake itself. I’m not even kidding; I originally picked Mai on a whim (my sister’s suggestion, actually) when I wanted a third for my 2k2 team (Ralf/Yamazaki/??). After killing my brother with jump kicks, I started actually learning Mai’s moves, and I found that I really liked the way she plays. Nice footspeed, crazy air-to-air, decent battery and runaway – I would actually consider her one of my strongest characters.
But yeah, the fact that Mai’s not in XII really isn’t what bothers me about the game. It’s mostly that I feel kinda railroaded into playing the Ikari team this time around; nobody else really appeals to me on a technical/aesthetic level. Maybe somebody will surprise me (or maybe the Ikari team will just be that awesome when I’m actually behind the controls), but for now (and I stress the “for now” part; as in SF4’s case, I may come around here, too) I think I’ll stick with '98 UM/2k2 UM (even though 2k2 UM has Bao).
I really don’t know why I feel this way, but I have a much stronger sense of character loyalty in KOF than I do in Street Fighter (where I play a different character in pretty much every game with no second thoughts). I find myself kind of irrationally driven away from the Shotos/semi-Shotos/“hero” types of characters and more towards the less “obvious” characters (Clark is probably the most “obvious” character I consistently play, in that he’s traditionally technically strong and often represented at all levels of play). I feel compelled to play as whoever I think looks/acts the coolest, rather than considering people on purely technical merits like I do in Street Fighter. (Although Bison IS the man.) Maybe the usually large KOF buffet-plate roster plays into that; I get a much stronger sense of “just pick who you like dawg” rather than “pick the characters who’ll kick the most ass”. I guess I’ve just kind of been irrationally offended by the popularity of characters like Ash/Kyo/Terry/Iori because I don’t think they’re nearly as cool as the people I pick. (I played KOF since I was 13 years old; I’ve probably formed all kinds of emotional attachments. I didn’t start playing Mai until much later, though.)
tl;dr: I jerk off to Mai’s priority. And her ass.
I think the hype will fire back up soon enough once it hits EVO, etc.
I dunno that I can objectively explain the appeal of SF4 to me, but I think a large part of it comes from the fact that (a) it’s one of the few games that I’ve followed in enough depth prior to its release that I actually felt prepared for/competent at once I actually got to play it, and (b) SF4 Dictator. Goddamn, that man is amazing. EX Head Press, Devil Reverse, teleport actually useful, LK Knee Press, great crossups, great pokes, and his dash is pure sex. Fuck Mai, I’m jerking off to BISON.
so can you guys at Ptwon find out what version is this Beta??? or final Arcade release???
Of all places to get it first Portland Tilt awesome, i sure miss the days were i used to skip high school and go to the lloyd center tilt and play come good ol cvs2 and marvel 2 when that stuff was hot on arcades ooo the good ol times.
Dammit should have never left Portland:sad:
Really , it just sounds like you’re a SF person in the end, and it happens. SF4 became more and more of a disappointment the more I played it due to its lack of control while jumping, odd balance choices (WTF Vega/Claw, what have they done to you) and In general not living up to the hype. I have more fun playing ST/HD Remix than 4, but thats just me.
ask the arcade people how they got their machine so quickly, and of course videos and mainly impressions, especially from guys that never played a KOF before.
i just hope if they release mai for the console version its her 97/98 version. whatever moves they give her i dont care, as long as she has her 95/98 dp+k move.
I’ll be more happy with her air db + p
game is out? holy crap!
I’m pretty sure a while ago I heard people talking about CTF getting TvC.
Didn’t happen.
well they do have a decent kof scene there (since they do have OG 98 and 2k2, tho i wished they had UM, then again I dunno anymore I can only wish)
KOF MI RA 2 has already been announced. Look it up.
You people just like to bash Falcoon because he’s the only SNK producer that has ever been in the spotlight. Same way as Ono with SFIV. Nobody mentioned the producers of SF2 or 3, but Ono? Every comment was “Ono this, Ono that”.
So fucking retarded.
Falcoon made crazy alternate outfits. SO FUCKING WHAT? Pick the regular clothes, then! The game was number one on release in Japan (once again, look it up), and the only KOF that ever got any attention in the US. Does that instantly make the game awesome? No. But you people talk like Falcoon is the spawn of satan! He didn’t do anything besides what was expected of him, and he did it well - it achieved everything it was meant to be - a game that was easy to pick and play but still resembled the 2D KOFs.
And to make matters worse…
…We have people that don’t even know the difference between what a freelancer (Hiroaki) and an employee (Nona) can do in a company.
Jesus Christ.
I’m not like uber-top tier at KOF, I get owned by quite a few people in 98… but I guess I can hold my own against most people so um yeah.
I think my camera quality is quite alright, but on the highest setting I can only record about an hour or so of footage.
I’m hoping to get to the bottom of these mysteries myself! Honestly I have a hunch that this is going to end up being the same board (or same version) as the last location test, so if that’s the case, it means that there are obviously still things that could change by the final next month. But like I said that’s just a guess, this COULD be the first copy of the final version… but then why would Portland of all places have it? It’s baffling.
Enough rambling, off to the arcade!
Why would we have a loke test board, that makes no sense.
We did get kofxi really fast too, maybe tilt thinks kof will bring in the money.
well the graphics might convert some new players over. So yea let us kno how it goes!
