Phoenix has a new arena being negotiated and would likely veto any deal that would move the Suns out of Phoenix, but at the same time, with all of these #SarverOut posters going around the city, Sarver seems like the kind of dickwad that would move them out of Phoenix just to spite the entire city for not bending over and kissing his ass.
No doubt, completely agree. However, these dudes are in the basketball business. They trust Hinkie to tank the team and draft talent for the future, but lost their courage in the end. It was the first sign that Hinkie was out the door. Nobody here wanted Okafor not b/c of talent (he has tons), but he wasn’t right for the style we wanted to play. Hinkie told them Kristaps was the guy.
Just image Simmons, Embiid and Porzingis. That’s not even fair.
The Knicks thank the 76ers for their incompetence. Porzingis was number 2 on Phil’s big board under towns though so I’m guessing he would have made it happen if they thought there was a risk someone else would have taken him
HoopsHype has been throwing out “player vs player: who’s better” tweets for awhile. I got into an argument with a kid when they did Nash vs Kidd. Kidd is 2nd all-time in assists, 2nd all-time in steals, 3rd all-time in triple doubles, 9x all-defensive teams, and he has a ring. Dumb kid’s argument was “Nash has 2 MVPs and could shoot, he’s better.”
That’s when I knew I would never argue with people on Twitter again when it comes to b-ball.
Probably would - the tank job was still in full effect. It’s the reason why The Process is bearing fruit. This wasn’t some, half-baked tank job. The idea wasn’t to get one really good player and go from there, it was to get multiple good players and go from there.
The Sixers ownership group will never admit it, but they made Hinkie the scapegoat for Okafor. Had they let him take Kristaps, he’d probably still be here and we would’ve gotten much more for Nerlens than Justin Anderson.
Interesting how the process will play out going forward. Looking at the Knicks and how porzingis camp isn’t guaranteeing he signs the rookie max after next season because of distrust in the org, league perception amongst players towards ownership is a huge deal I
On player destination choices.
The Knicks have alot of work to do to convince folks to want to play there again. This okafor situation could be the start of the same thing. Players are already talking about how they are doing okafor wrong (even though not signing the extension is a smart move). Philly will have a great foundation but will it be enough to attract big names going forward?
The Knicks can’t blame Dolan for the shit show Phil created, hell Dolan was out playing the blues in a bar on draft night, he checked out years ago but the culture stunk in NY
How they’re handling him is t a good look, but it’s far from what Phil did to the Knicks. The Sixers are trying to get anything for Okafor. Meanwhile him and his camp have lost their patience (rightfully so) and are causing a stink.
At the end of the day Simmons and Embiid will be enough to get some guys looking our way.
I’d be estactic if we could get Wesley Mathews for Okafor at this point. We need another vet like him on the roster.
