It boggles my mind that they didn’t have the issue with the NFLPA worked out before the league was launched. Vince taking his time with XFL 2.0 looks an even smarter decision today.

The goal of Ebersol and Polian was to wait until 2021 to hammer it out because a work stoppage is incredibly likely for the NFL at that point. They figured the NFLPA would be a LOT more willing to negotiate with them when work is being taken off the table. But the new investor is bleeding money and didn’t want to wait, so he pushed to do it now when the AAF has zero leverage and the NFLPA has zero motivation to do anything with the AAF and now we’re here.
