well now. THIS would be a big change on the deck. A weapon that throws objects the size of cars at hypersonic speed…Times however many guns + however many ships. Also, there is the price reduction for ammo since it won’t really need the complex (and costly) abilities of special warheads. Getting hit by something the size of a small car moving THAT fast would probably kill anything from a one-story, single family sized house and lower. no vehicle we have today would be going anywhere after a blow from that. If these things can be made accurate enough to stop a missile inbound, then Terroists are gonna have to start skipping flights. It won’t do no good to go all that way just to end up with a one-ton slug in the face as a last meal. Horay for firepower.
Depending on how good the rail tech is, the projectile will hit the target near instantaneously despite range differences, it wont need to track just pointed in the right direction
edit: just noticed the BAE sticker on the RG, they hire half the mechanical engineering grads out of Glasgow, that thing is gonna blow up on somebodies face xD
Or just equip a Metal Gear with the shoulder mounted railgun.
With how much money the military gets compared to NASA, or like, anything, its probably going to happen for them. Maybe that Metal Gear also goes into space…
Lol MG, heres me predicting a 80GJ Railgun in some remote area in Alaska getting loaded with stealth nuclear warheads, hopefully pointed to the heart of evil… ISRAEL!
Going in terms of “brick”, it’s entirely worth it, I’d say. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1q_rRicAwI
That “fire” is not an explosive propellant - that’s PLASMA being formed from the air being SUNDERED in its wake.
And here:
See the lensing in front of the slug? That isn’t a camera effect; that’s the air *warping *in front of it.
These will kinda seriously outclass modern heavy firearms once they’re common as weapons lol

Nice. Can’t wait until SF7 comes out…
Guile: SONIC BOOM!!! New challenger:Smirks Step ya game up old-timer. WARP STRIKE!! Hits Guile with a hypersonic brick. Guile: …:wtf:
I’m just imagining that if these things (the guns) are made small enough to put several of them in a row, they could REALLY bring down a rain of fire on a target like the gunners of old, minus the long reloading times and less than reliable weaponry. Like MechWarrior said, these things fire so fast that they warp the air and cause PLASMA in their wake. Mutha fucking guns going all Havok of Marvel Comics fame on a target. I can only wonder how long before actual physical objects are no longer needed and they can simply turn the very air (or nitrogen, hydrogen, or OTHER stuff in the air) into the ammunition that the weapon uses? One day, some poor alien is gonna be saying,“Oh I know they did not just shoot that green shit at me!!” I don’t know why, but I cannot help but want to see it in action. Sooner or later, we gotta get an actual Starship up and running out there in orbit so that we can get down interstellar style… Okay. Maybe I’m showing my crazy side TOO much now…
