Above is the post before it was edited, don’t know why you’d edit your posted, but whatever.
I don’t see how a join date impacts any ones opinion. I’ve stated my opinion on your comments join date is totally irrelevant, also still very confused on what type of high horse you see me on.
What I can’t wrap my head around his why you took offence to people having a choice. It shouldn’t matter if there are twenty different tournaments going on at the same time if you believe in your product that much or tournament for that matter it shouldn’t make difference to you. If anything it should be an incentive to work harder to make Pownz the tournament to go to.
People have a choice, nothing wrong with that.
Too much bickering in this thread. Moving all the beginners to another, more convenient, venue won’t and isn’t even meant to compete with any of the Pownz events. Trying to improve our local scene shouldn’t yield lethal doses of sodium.
Mad props to Dice for making this happen also. Was getting tired of standing around in a sweaty room with my dick in my hand for 10 minutes to play a single game. Now it’ll be cut to a cool 3-5 with room to breathe, assuming there’s decent AC there.
The issue isn’t about choice. It’s about overall growth. You mentioned in your previous post about coming like an adult and discussing the issue. That was never an option because wheels were set in motion obviously well before this thread was created. If the people behind this new venue had taken a little time to be up front about a new venue being opened then something could have been worked out wherein all parties within the community could have benefit. Right now, it’s four tournaments creating a splinter effect.
While I’m sure the players within the downtown core are very happy to have a venue to play in, I think everyone is losing sight of the bigger picture here. The old mentality of segmenting within your greater community should honestly be dead. I’m very surprised and disappointed to see a continued small minded mentality towards overall growth. Everyone could have and should have been able to benefit from another viable venue opening. A little vision was all that was necessary to make something small but good for Toronto into something great and beneficial for the entire GTASF.
Anyone losing sight of the ‘bigger picture’ is you. This is giving the opportunity for players who may have not been able to attend Hamiltons event to still have something to go to. Thats what youre missing out of all this, you continue to claim how this is causing a split in the scene or as you put it ‘splinter effect’ when in reality the only person who is causing that right now is you. This comes down to a date, it has nothing to do with any split or community related it comes down to this event having some sort of impact on Pownz. From the looks of it if people don’t go to a Pownz event they are causing damage to the scene. Get real… this is great for the community the more events the more people are able to get out and play.
First I do not know NG2 well but from what I’ve read in your posts, u seem to be a bit of a spoiled kid in that if events do not go your own way u throw a fit. Perhaps there is more to what im seeing here but that is my general impression. Lighten up a bit. If they want to throw a smaller tournament for people unwilling and/or unable to head to hamilton then all the power to them. I doubt dice would have went out to organize a tournament if he did not believe people would love for one to be held in their backyard.
With regards to dice trying to make a stab at powns again i cant tell completely from simple forum posts however, I will say that making a post to advertise your tournament with the downplaying of another tournaments common flaws is a bit distasteful. This guy does put forth a good chunk of effort and regardless if tvs are laggy, not enough stations, too many bodys cramped causing everybody to smell like regurgitated sheep ass etc. none of this should take away from the fact that this tournament takes both time and money to organize for all of u sf4 addicts. Keep that in mind.
Lastly i agree whether or not this was an intentional crack at powns by organizing a tournament on the same day or not does not matter. The situation could have definitely been approached better or maybe something organized through each other even? How about both winners of each event MM? Just a thought:P
Dice: I sent you a Facebook msg. Plans about joining Tekken in your opening. I’m sure Buffalo will be happy to hear that they get to play SSFIV with a real comp rather than the Tekken peeps. Apparently, they have all converted to SFIV. I’m sure Jug will be even more happy now that he has a reason to come. LOL. Those Buff Bastards.
Russel: Ill check my mail and update the first post with the tekken info GS !
Once again I will not be addressing anymore nagging about the date, its release week why wouldnt the people of Toronto get play at a tournament, im sure they rather be playing then watching a stream of a venue that they can’t get to. Please keep this thread Hype related and lets get down with the big picture that is bulding up our local scene.
I don’t know if the majority of people will see it in the long run. They’ll be content to play in tournies and think about their game rather than the growth and prosperity of the community. The ones with recent bigger money in their pocket might grasp it more than the rest (the irony of Alex spearheading this movement makes it all the worse). It isn’t about the tournament. It’s what the tournament represents in the grand scheme of things. It’s about the right people seeing the right numbers at the right time. Windows of opportunity are so scarce, it’s a shame such a big one will be closed up.
Everybody sees what you’re trying to say. Nobody here strikes me as a moron so with that said ever hear of the term “strength in numbers”? And by that same token the toronto tournament, according to what dice has said, is being held for the local toronto scene with those in mind whom cannot make it to hamilton. I really fail to see how holding a tournament on the day of yours is such a big deal. When u throw something together nobody else can? Everybody should always at all times bend over to head to your tournament rather then heading to the comfort of their own yard? Come on dude…
Let me guess I take you are the self appointed messiah who is the only one to lead Toronto (and and surrounding area) to the promise land?
Give it up, your argument holds as much water as a barrel with a hole in it. Lets just all stop talking about it and hype this tournament up!!!
Like I said the more events the more turn out, and hopefully more of a positive scene to draw more people in, auguring and holding grudges with one another doesnt make anyone look good.
At the end of the day, who cares lets just play and have a good time!
lol at all the people who don’t have a clue about what they’re saying. hint: his name isn’t nagata lock ii.
also, is there parking available at this venue?
i like how this tournament stabs two tournaments in the face, and no one mentions anything about Heroes Worlds getting jobbed, or that Nagata stickied the thread anyways if you people think he was so petty and small minded.
hmmm since nagata’s argument don’t make sense to me, i guess i’m too stupid to get the “big” picture.
What i DO see infront of me is a tournament that’s closer to me, cheaper entrance fee, lots of top players, and hopefully a unrigged bracket.
Therefore some of STC’s finest players and myself will be attending TFNS.
Get Hype?
PS. Ontario Tournament Rule #1: a tournament w/out JS Master is not a tournament.
I think you guys are all missing the grand scheme of the greater good that only I know about because I know everything about everything and you guys are all missing out on a great opportunity of greatness of the good of the big picture of the greatness. It’s a shame that you all don’t see this from my perspective.
