Hello 3rd Strike peoples! Texas Showdown is just around the corner and it’s shaping up to be a pretty good event for 3rd Strike. A lot of folks have been asking for info, so here is a (tentative) schedule for 3rd Strike events at Texas Showdown, happening April 22 - 24! All times are subject to change, but are as follows;
Friday
The 3rd Strike Club Suite will open at 12:30 PM and run until 3 PM Saturday, where we will host exhibitions and a team tournament/generals depending on number of participants. We encourage everyone get there as early as possible to get in as many games as possible. We will have at least 3 Xboxes on CRT set ups and one supergun set up available for use all day. A stream station will also be there to stream and archive all 3S events in the suite. There may also be one set up for SFV given enough interest and space. There will be NO ENTRY FEE to play any and all casuals in the suite, but there may be a small one for any tournaments run.
Saturday
The official Texas Showdown 3rd Strike tournament will begin at 3 PM and is currently scheduled to run until 6 PM, but is likely to go over that time, as last year it ran for nearly 4 1/2 hours for a 30+ man bracket. Last year, however, there was only one set up. This year we will have 3 set ups, all Xboxes on CRTs as this is what the TOs have agreed to let us run. I don’t expect us to run nearly that long, but be prepared to be there for awhile anyway. Now, to enter this tournament, you do need to be registered through the event page or during on site registration (which is more expensive) BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT STARTS. I believe current online registration is $50 + $10 per game. Online registration, however, ends April 10th, so please visit http://txshowdown.com to register or for further details.
Sunday
TBD, but it is finals day, so for those not watching or participating in any of those events, depending on interest and attendance, we may have the suite again. This is entirely dependent on how many people are still there and want to play, as this will be coming entirely out of my own pockets. Side set ups will also be available in the main ballroom for anyone to get games in otherwise.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to message me on Facebook or Twitter @kdalpha, or check out http://txshowdown.com for details about games or hotel information. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come, no matter your skill or experience with the game. We encourage anyone who’s thinking about coming to come check us out and have a good time. On behalf of the Houston 3rd Strike crew, we look forward to seeing all of you there!
