What I don’t understand is how arbitrary this system is. Why allow people who have very little academic background to hold such high positions and make choices for the entire state? I mean, I know they have doctors and other smart people on there, but I wouldn’t exactly trust a doctor to determine what pieces of American history my kids should learn.

let’s face the facts guys: 90% of the kids won’t even take those history books in or reflect on what’s on the books. School rewards rote memory over critical thinking. They’re going to memorize that stuff, forget about it, then go on to some random degree factory to make scrilla.
