Well I was doing a Google search for any Tetris Attack sites and this thread came up.
Graywer, judging by your scores I would say that you are approximately at my level in skill. Here are my high scores:
TT: 31790
Endless 99999: 8’18 (old 8’45)
Do you have MSN? If so, add me by e-mail: project_eutopia@hotmail.com (don’t email me there - I only check cmlocke@shaw.ca). I would love to play you on ZSNES.
I have a couple things to add now: First of all, check out http://www.tetrisattack.net/forums/; it is a pretty good TA community that I joined not too long ago. Next, are you aware that in TA, if you score over 13x you won’t get any extra points? I noticed in one of your pics that you only had one x13 chain and multiple x? chains. Because in VS mode the garbage blocks max out at 12 layers thick (x13 chain), it doesn’t keep track past that point and you actually score zero for each link past x13. Another thing to boost your scores is bonuses. If you have a x12 or x13 chain still running and you clear 3 regular panels, you will get awarded a bonus equal to the value of the chain at that link. For example, if a x13 chain was worth 1600 points (don’t quote me on that :)), then if while the x13 chain was still alive you cleared 2 sets of 3 panels, then you will get an additional 3200 points. This is how the pros score over 50000 in the time trial.
One thing I should also note is that for Endless 99999 records, the time reported should be the time of death, not the time that 99999 was achieved. In other words, as soon as you hit 99999, you should stop your chain and raise the stack to commit suicide. This is trivial really, but it is how the scores are kept consistant.
So in conclusion, MSN me to set up a game and I look forward to seeing all of you TA players over at the www.tetrisattack.net forums :D.
EDIT: Well, well, I just broke my Endless record! I amend the post to account for the change :).
Wow, I can’t believe I was totally left outta this Tetris Attack community! I’ll definitely check it out! Wow, 50K? That’s insane! As for my time trials versus score, my most recent record’s 42876; it should be in one of my past posts.
As for the whole x13, x? chains, yes, I did notice that garbage blocks no longer increase in size, and yes, I knew they didn’t increase the score. However, I DIDN’T know that you actually get more points while racking up threes in the middle of a x12, x13 skill chain. Nice piece of info.! Maybe my 42876 could possibly reach even greater heights with that tactic!
Another thing that I haven’t mastered is…pulling off multiple skill chains at once. For example, you do a regular three…score a x2, during that time, you bust another three, that x2 you made previously chains to a x3, then from that second three you made disappeared, you create a x4 in 25%-50% of the time you could have just concentrating in one spot. It’s a tactic I saw the computer use while raising up my stack from pulling off a x13. I’ve got as far as getting a x8, and then it gets pretty messy. With stick with the “traditional” style of play with working on one skill chain, I can pull off at least 4-5 x13’s.
MSN, do you mean MSN messenger, or e-mail, etc.? I’ve got messenger, but I forgot my name! Again, thanks for the great information!
Well, the problem with secondary chains is that they get overwhelming very quickly! The idea is to set up one chain two or more links in advance, then go to another part of the field and start another chain, jumping back and forth as necessary. I don’t believe anyone has yet been able to pull this feat off! If someone were able to harness its awesome power, I’m sure that people would be able to get scores of +80000!!!
Yes, I mean MSN messenger. All you need is a hotmail account to use it. A lot of people I know on the internet have AOL, but most of my friends in real life have MSN, so I’m sticking with that :). Once you get on, just add me by e-mail (listed in above post) and message me whenever I’m on for a match.
By the way, I see you’ve found your way to tetrisattack.net forums… I guess I’ll be seeing you there! One last thing, my TT high score is now 448xx, but it doesn’t mean much. It was a VERY lucky game where all the pieces fell into place; I usually score around 20000.
Whatever dude. I could beat all of ya!!!
…In my dreams
Nice stuff! I’m trying to learn the game, but I’ve got too much Puzzle Fighter in me
My biggest problem right now is that I tend to watch my bricks explode instead of moving on and looking for the next combo. Hopefully I can train my mind into having faith that the game will indeed break my blocks.
(this post is more of a bump than anything
)
Haha
Heh, it’s all good. Jes’ keep practicing…and yes, those blocks won’t stop disappearing once it begins! An’ even after that, you can learn to manipulate the disappearing to your favor and make even more skill chain possibilities. (time lag, etc.) Anyway, you should check out the forum vega posted up here.
I’m interested in a match.
