TES+ Broken :(

Hi guys,

this is my first post but I’m not sure where to really go from here. My TES+ is less than a year old and I haven’t used it in months(school). I plugged it in today to try out the season 2 changes and noted that the stick thinks the right direction is held. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting as well as disconnecting every single connector on the PCB except the PS button. Even with everything unplugged but the PS button the moment i click it, it goes to the main menu and immediately starts scrolling right.

What are my options as I checked Mad Catz warranty and its only 90 days. Unbelievable on a product that I spent nearly $300 CAD for.

You can use a 5k pull up resistor between the right signal and 5v.

Or you can remove the diode that’s on the right signal line.

Hmm, I don’t have any experience or the tools. This is my first time opening it up and haven’t dealt with PCB’s before. How would i remove the diode on the right signal line?

Ideally with a soldering iron. You could also break it off with force from a precision flathead, but this could risk damaging something else if you slip up.

I would give madcatz support a try anyway, tell them its a widely reported manufacturing fault.
Were spoiled here in Belgium with the law requiring two year waranty on electronics.

When you remove the diode, don’t you need to replace that diode with a length of wire?

No. In the case with these pcb issue in the te2+ and tes+ something wrong is with the diode and causing a short between ground and the signal.

Hi @Gummo !
I have the same problem with my TES+. The Options (Start) button is held.
Do you know which diode i have to remove? I think its D8.
Thanks in advance
