I’ve always said “Marvel is a dumb game, it makes people angry and unknowingly steal my porkchops”
Yall miss the point of my post. Someone with 15 hours of Marville exp CAN beat someone with 100 hours of Marvill exp. Can someone like that do it in SF? Probably no.
But you only referred to combos in your first post. You can practice the hardest combos for 1,000 hours and lose to someone with 5 hours of experience with real matches. This applies to any game, even SF.
People don’t block enough in Marvel. They just wanna air dash and spam Hagneto’s j.H all day. They also spam advancing guard way too much, when they should be punishing moves on block.
Is that why you’re buying Chris’ copy?
I disagree with this. There’s no way I’m getting beat by anybody with less than 200 hours in Marvel. It depends mostly on your methods of attacking. If you go balls deep without covering yourself properly then you’re going to probably have issues against certain playstyles. Quite honestly, the only types of teams I personally lose to are teams that cover the screen in plasma.(Being that Zero is my main character) It just sounds like some people need to reevaluate the way they play this game.
“newest and more updated tactics/combos”
Tactics includes strategies and match up shit too. The ROM combo thing was just an example. Should have made it more clear.
Or teams with Hulk? lol
This is why people bitch about super armor. They can’t just press buttons like they’re used to doing…
Just your hulk. I shit on 99% of the players I meet.
Meanwhile, my XBL is still banned for up to three more weeks. The investigation is going slower than I had expected it to.
I will upload our next online set though.
Got damn Mike. Don’t speak on what you don’t know my friend.
1st - Rell been over to my place on more than 1 occassion to actually play Marvel. Each time with me showin him “cheap” shit.
2nd - As long as I’ve been a competitive player, I have locally placed TOP in every game that I’ve taken seriously. I’ve done the same in most of the out of town tournies I’ve entered as well( MK, BB, GG)
3rd - I don’t own nor play AE on a regular basis and can still pull out wins against everyone here. How do you explain that then? “Well uhhh…mane you play everything.” Lol. No I don’t.
My reason for wanting to move is because of the entire scene as a whole. I love the scene here, but not enough people care to or above the extent that I do. Lil Majin came out the ground and won the Marvel Ranbat. Good job, but what can I learn from that? Maybe just how to block more lol. People just showing up for events like Fight Night helps no one. I just want a SERIOUS training partner that I can play on the regular without them wanting to quit the game every damn session. FightingGM(Lee of America) has sessions with peeps on the regular and is an AMAZING player. He isn’t JUST hitting training mode.
I have no clue anymore, I was thinking about it, and I’ve been trying to get ahold of him on FB, I guess maybe he isn’t getting my messages or something. I still owe him some cash on that TE stick too. I was going to get his copy of Marvel because the price is right, and my friends where I live love dicking around on the game, so I figure for that price, I’ll do some day 1 Sentinel combos lol.
Okay, I need a head count for 5 Guys and/or games at my place tonight? I know some regulars can’t make it, so I’d like to know ahead of time if I need to prepare the breadbox for a session. Thanks
I can make games but not 5Guys… so I get like half a tally mark…
raises hand for games(5 Guys if I can get a ride)
Might can help you out bishop, send me a PM with your number
This whole thing seems more like a misunderstanding than anything else but what does the above point have to do with anything. As an example Cylus and I dont play Marvel but could prolly take a few lucky/random/whatever wins off your squad so what that makes you ass at Marvel or not worth playing and learning from or means your not “serious”…no obviously not.
Ranbats are a hard environment to learn in but last time I checked most everyone here will give you tips when the match is over. Im not saying this is better than an indepth training session but thats not how fight night is arranged. We have too little space, not enough set us for people run like training sessions while there.
Everyone needs to realize that people have different goals when they play. Not everyone is gonna want to “win evo” some might just want to “beat everyone in town” or just “get better than they were yesterday”. There is nothing wrong with this.
You are also saying you want a dedicated training partner to learn with…who have you asked? I know you and Squab were working on some stuff and you said above Majin came over and learned “stupid shit”. The only issue I really see with this whole thing is some of the “at one time better players” stopped playing X game and now there are less players of a certain level to play.
Granted if you feel its better for you to move, thats your opinion and its all good. I hope it goes well for you and you become a top player.
I see you found the lost footage of Patrick at the Braves game back in '95.
lost footage of patrick last week
Let me 1st say this. I have no issue with those of you that have already stated your goals and ambitions for whatever game you play being local. I am looking for a player or player(s) that have the same goals as I with the same “firery” desire to improve. Im not saying that nobody here wants to improve but I doubt there are many that want to be the ABSOLUTE best. Most are just fine with wanting to kick everyone’s ass in town, which is fine.
Now let me explain to you what I mean by “SERIOUS”:
Im talking about the players that have made up their minds that “Im going to be the best I can be in this game no matter what”. Meaning they can lose horribly and not lose a spec of interest. In fact, those losses only fuel that raging desire to improve and once they improve to the point to where they can beat those that were better than them, they don’t stop there. They continue to search for ways to improve. WolfKrone is a perfect example. Think of it as a Ryu/Gouki type mentality.
That being said, I have made an announcement on more than 1 occassion here on SRK and IRL that I was looking for a serious training partner. Squabb along with Hiryu has seeked aid from me in Tekken and Squabb n I always share Cody tips for SF. Jas comes by and gets Marvel games in with me as well. At the same time, no body has stepped up to fill that “serious training partner” spot that Im looking for. If you’re one of those guys that has so much goin on that “you cant” play as much as you would like then spare me. Im not talking to you.
I think what everyone is trying to say is: Sev, start playing SF again.
Johnny: Fuck the combos, it’s not about that. Such was the gist of my post. If the game is so broke(which it is) it just means you can do the same shit the next guy is doing. Or you combat it. Fact of the matter is, Rell is just more solid than anyone else here. Common sense can’t be taught, learned, trained, practiced, etc.
Bishop: I know everytime Rell comes over your house because I talk to him EVERYDAY, most times while he’s on the way to your house. And it’s on Wednesdays before Hastings. Y’all play Marvel because you don’t wanna play Tekken and he doesn’t want to play MK, so its makes MvC3 a kinda common ground in that he’ll actually play that game in moderation. You show him “cheap shit” and that’s cool. Maybe he uses some of that stuff. Maybe not.
Another thing, you said, “Lil Majin came out of the ground and won the Marvel ranbat. Good job, but what can I learn from that?” Huh? What the hell is wrong with y’all? Why do you have to learn anything? You’re just supposed to WIN. What’s up with all this “learning” crap? Why doesn’t he have to “learn” anything? Why do y’all have to over-analyze everything and read articles just to inspire y’all to…win. Meanwhile, the people who ARE actually winning are laughing at that dumb shit and just continuing to be solid through natural means. WHICH, i might add, is obviously the most effective way. Too much emphasis being put on what’s posted on the front page of SRK or youtube, or what “Juicebox Cracker Lunchable” did in his latest match. Y’all be so wrapped up and overwhelmed in extra stuff that you take focus off the little shit. That’s why when my garbage ass play some of you I do random and crazy shit just to throw y’all off and make your mind bleed and shut off. And it works. Will continue to work. Because the majority of you are so caught up on other shit. It makes me laugh. That’s the other thing people need to LEARN. Is the damn game. The basics. Not spend 10000000000 in training mode practicing what to do when a hit connects.
Stop putting the blame off on what you can learn from the next person. Hell, stop even analyzing this shit. It’s completely irrelevant to discuss as the discussion itself leads to ass playing and bad habits. Good for y’all that you know every term in the fg dictionary, what this article or top player said about common sense, and how many frames this plink is. But motherfucker can you block it? WILL YOU block it? So sick of people saying, “OMFG that guy was so random!” “OMFG that dude was just mashing!” “OMFG he just doing mooooooooooves!” How do people think it’s cool to say shit like that and throw tantrums and sticks without me or anyone else looking at THEM as the slaw dumbass?
The mindsets are just fucked up here. People need to know what they’re playing for. Whether it’s for shits and giggles, casuals, or serious. If it’s “serious”, then Jesus Christ…it’s over. It’s over for you. Spent too much time and energy being slaw. And having a shattered view of what you’re supposed to be doing, HOW you’re supposed to be doing it, and thinking the answer is anything more than personally being solid.
What if Rell didn’t enter the ranbat? What if…Marcus came instead? Results would’ve been same or a toss-up between him and Bishop because Marcus is one of those “random mashing omfg just doing moooooooves” players too that you’re not gonna learn “enlightenment” from.
Long ass post, but basically, tired of hearing about this “learning” crap. “About to hit the lab” crap. You fools have played Marvel so extensively that the get better part is supposed to be mental now. Level up in your sleep. You can call it learning if you want I guess. But just the composure and mental restraint to stop attacking like jackasses, punishing, when to block, when to take a risk, when to mix if up, IF you should mix it up. This is just common sense shit! If you did all this and lost, then you just lost. Nothing more, nothing less. You just weren’t the better player today. Don’t be saying, or thinking, well its __________ reason and I guessed wrong on a MIXUP or got chipped to death because I aint got no comp here to teach me not to do that simple shit or 10 “Tawp playahs” here to LEARNNNNN so I need to relocate." And lose to the same shit there.
I think peeps be losing because they make this shit into more than what it is. And you’ll notice that the ones who are winning, see it for what it is. And at this point, its like, If you got it, you got it. If you don’t, you don’t. Basically. Cuz a lot of dudes losing and going to training mode for the 12,000 time and practicing combos and changing teams when it really boils down to…you’re just not that smart.
And for the ones who are smart, please God know that it’s mental now. It’s all on you. No one else. Either stop freezing up, calm it down, think, be more aggressive, stop being shaky, or be more solid. One of those things. Just stop thinking you lost so you need to go learn a new fucking combo, or trick, or glitch, or this new shit they say: “technology”. The bullshit that you’re doing on the stick is just the TOOLS that you’re utilizing once your mind develops a formulated gameplay. And because you’re competing against another working mind, it has to update repeatedly and consistently. Why do niggas not understand this? You dont need articles or Combofiend sitting down next to you(in the same city cuz you moved there) to tell you this.
I dare anybody to tell me I’m wrong. Maybe when you consider folks feelings and emotions, and drama or whatever else is brought into it. But when you take it and look at it on base level, like how a computer, or alien, or hell anyone would common sense would, breaking these matches down in parts it’s either: a battle of the minds, rock/paper/scissors, chess, checkers, or the old cartoons where one guy pulls out a gun, then the next guy pulls out a bigger gun, then first guy an even bigger gun, and so forth. At the end of these matches you gotta have the biggest fucking gun. Sometimes the biggest gun was simply waiting for your opponent to get desperate, rush you, but you block, and just punishing him. Cuz hell, that was the best option when you saw you had the life lead. Then other times it’s deeper than that, diff strategies, but its up to you to decide that and pinpoint what you should do. Decision-making is the biggest factor here. That shit can’t be taught.
Goddamn stop being dumb-asses. I hate reading this thread. I hate when fuckers made this fg shit more intricate than what it was to the point where it wasn’t natural for people to realize basic shit anymore instead of thinking too long about it and trying to remember what Gootecks said it was ok. Go to a basketball court and try to overanalyze that. Why your shot wouldn’t fall. If you would’ve grew up playing with Kobe Bryant to know that you should’ve exerted _____ force from your fingertips when you’re _____ feet from the basket. Kobe would’ve helped me realized that shit and honed it forever. See how stupid it sounds? And it’s all physics from a perspective. But godammnit if you not good in science and math just PUT THE BALL IN THE HOLE NIGGA! You understood that plain and clear. However it’s done. The ball go in the hole. Just like their lifebar supposed to go to zero.
So just stfu and put the ball in the hole. Or lose. Goddamn…
