Like Josh said ours are usually 16-20+ people but it didn’t start out that way. If you have 8-10 people go ahead and run em. Just having a mini tourney like setting is fun and usually gets people more interested. For most of ours we dont even have a pay out or anything like that either so its more for just ranking the group and good times.
Honestly building a scene is like 25% work and 75% luck. Lycan and I ran around like crazy people trying to build a SF scene here in Mem years ago to little avail. We ran tournies offered payout ect. It didnt really matter. 9 times out of 10 it was just the two of us playing with Jan rolling through when he could. All of a sudden Lycan went to a local place called PowerPlay and we met like 5 other people who became regulars and it grew from there. One thing that did help is both PowerPlay and now Hastings do at least advertise a little that we are there. So there were walk-ins from both places.
Also if you dont already I would say try to organize something after fight night. Like hit up a bar with the group for a few rounds or something. Aside from being fun it helps in general I think.

As of right now I’m pretty sure we are going to have to use a 32-man bracket (since I’m sure the number will be around 20) and I can think of 5 confirmed setups… Me, Duckie, Cylus, Sev, and Jas… If all 5 of those setups can hold Marvel ranbat for the first two rounds of winners and losers, then I think we can cut down to 2 or 3 after that for the rest of the bracket… Which would leave 2 setups open for casuals (one being Duckie’s)…
PLEASE be at Hastings by 7:45 PM if you are going to be in the ranbat… If you are going to be late, please let me or someone else know, I’ll hold your match until it HAS to be played, in which case you will forfeit that match if you aren’t there…
The ranbat starts at 8 PM… So please gtfo the systems even if you are in the middle of a casual match so we can finish this bracket by 10 PM…

Yes there will be. I think Lycan is bringing his PS3 and TV and is going to put SF on it for casuals while the Marvel ranbat is going.
Yeah, I think the post-fight sessions were what really helped cement our scene. I have said it before and I’ll say it again, having even a small group of dedicated regulars is a step in the right direction. Without Lycan, Sev, Squabb, Eraser and Duckie/Cylus coming regularly to my 6-man fight nights at PowerPlay I don’t think it would have grown like it did. I’d have lost hope hosting fight nights long ago if not for those guys.

SF x T looks really sluggish and just… odd. I remember how different the first game play trailers were from the final SF4 product so I’m sure this will change too.
I can live with that. May I suggest keeping the two setups that will switch to casual setups next to each other for easy access and to avoid confusion?
I’ll also type up a set of rules for the setups to tape on the tables, because I know we get a lot of people who don’t follow this thread.
