I dont know about you guys but i love telling people im a competitive gamer. I guess its weird to you guys because your used to blending in and being a gamer definitely makes you stand out in a conversation, but im used to it. Considering im a 6ft9 300 pound black man i stand out where ever i go lol. So i dont mind telling people im a gamer. If anything its nothing but free money to me. “Oh you play games? Wanna play for money?” lol I play everything tho and i know most of you guys play prob 80% if not 100% fighting games. But i play everything from fighting games and shooting games to sports and puzzle games. I play everything i just love games and i love competition. So i would encourage people to be who you are, your a gamer rep it proudly i know i do. I hang out with all sorts of people from drug dealers to skateboarders and at all times I am me, A Gamer.
I was talking to a girl today that knows I’m into this shit and I had told her that some of my friends from the Nashville area were going to come down next week for the fight night she said “Oh, that’s cute you guys are all going to have a little play date.” And I replied with “No, it’s practice for tournaments where winning money is involved.” and she goes “Yeah, whatever you can justify your little gaming thing all you want but it’s still just a play date.”
Basically nobody around here embraces the culture at all.
Fucking lol…
I was feeling ambitious again, so I went to the gamestop and set up my T.V. and Marvel 3/SSFIV and played with some of the customers, I’m going to stop here and give you some kind of background information… There are people here that talk MASSIVE shit about how good they are in fighting games and blah blah blah… They’ll grab the controller and talk trash and I’ll just sort of nod to myself and smile while picking my character.
So, they pick XXXshotoXXX character (usually Ken) and proceed to full screen Tatsu or shoryu on every wake up. So after I beat them like, 15 times and smile and say “Good Games, if you’re interested in playing again I host a weekly thing where people come together and play fighting games.” The a generalized response is “Nah, man I’m cool. After that I don’t think I want to even mess with this game.”
Do people not want to play/continue to show up to fight nights because of the way I react to them? Does it have to do with the way I play the game? Most of you have played me, and you know that I’m not super god like or anything. I can hang with you, but I’m not dominating. But in Clarksville, I completely dominate the scene and it’s almost unchallenged aside from one friend that goes back and forth with me in Marvel and SSFIV.
Even worse is this guy I played with today. I asked him if he liked to play Marvel, and he says ‘Hell no." I asked him why exactly and his reply was “It’s too easy.” So I said “Okay, well we can play SSFIV if you’d like.” He agrees and we get to character selection. He picks Sagat and I picked Honda. Dude seems lost, only threw one fireball, and put himself into a corner every round. I even managed to perfect him. So he kind of just sets down his controller and walks away and I do the whole “Good Games man” thing and he says “Yeah, good games.” The point I’m trying to make here is that if Marvel is too easy, why did you just get epically destroyed by me in Super? I can agree that marvel is really easy to get into, and if you pick the right characters you can just press H over and over (lookin’ at you ammy) but at least be good at the genre before you shit talk it, you know?
Maybe it will change when we start playing Mortal Kombat during fight nights. I know I’ve shit talked it for months, but I’ll still be playing it. /endrant
just rename your fight night to dudebro game night feat black ops 1,000 ppl will show up
And women wise, i talk to plenty of women some of them play games but none of them have a problem with them. And if i do come across a girl that has a problem with it then i just stop talking to her. I mean gaming is a part of me and im not gonna change that for a woman, when its PLENTY of women out there. But my GF now loves games so im good.
@DGA This is just some random chick I talk to in class. I’m married.
It’s never an easy task to try to start a scene. Some people get beat, and ask themselves, “how can I get stronger?”. Some people get beat and ask themselves “why bother”. There’s nothing you can do about it, just keep doing your thing as best you can.
Oh ok
Yeah, it just seems like my town has a staggering majority in the latter group. I’ll keep showing up to the fight nights though, even if I’m the only guy and I have to sit in the back of the store tightening up my combos.
@JFord What do you do? I thought you sold dope forreal hahaha
ggs johnny fuck weskers cross ups online i block it for an hr still get hit
he’s nothing special he only plays(or should i put played the way this lockout is going) professional football

GGs Josh. When you didn’t comment back on my good fight comments, I thought you were salty. Yea Wesker’s cross ups and shits are stupid. Jas was right, he has homo tactics and is a OCV.
If you had a hit box stick or pad, you could block cross ups.

It’s all about immediate gratification. If they can’t walk up and win, they’re not going to feel like playing unless they get something out of it.
Sux bro.
