So the SSF4 AE DLC (whoa, too many acronyms) trailer looked cool but it failed to mention a couple important tidbits. You know, like, pricing and release date.

Finally they released the trailer for AE DLC. Capcom already took it down from YouTube, for whatever reason. Seems like the release date is June 11th.
I’m glad that they are allowing you to play the Super or the AE versions of characters. The game will stay really balanced and character rankings will pretty much stay the same, though. The only disappointment is no new characters and that Yun is unchanged. Even Yun players admit that he’s just overpowered as hell.
I honestly don’t understand the whole bit about Ono intentionally making Yun and Yang too good. He wants to bring more “competitive spirit” to the game? I don’t even remotely understand how that makes any sense at all, unless he by “competitive spirit” he means forcing tier whoring and counter picking back into the game.
As far as AE DLC goes I am pretty much 100% positive it couldn’t be over 20 bucks. Almost everyone gets their Microsoft Dollas from point cards… So I reeeaally don’t think they’d make it where you had to buy two seperate cards, or force you to use your credit card. It would be the most expensive add-on for any game if it were, unless by DLC they really mean full download only game. My bet is on $15 and I’d be more than willing to pay that. Can’t wait to go to tournaments and have 2 out of 5 set ups not have the DLC. Can’t even go to a Marvel tournament and have the newest FREE, MANDATORY updates. Ugh.
Shawn: Fuck Blanka, everyone but you and Zach hate that character. Even Zach would never play him if Gen wasn’t a garbage character. Bonkers is not nearly as dumb and annoying as Juri, though. She’s just an all around terribly designed character.
That’s actually a pretty cool way to deal with it. A lot of folks have been bitching about AE Mak as well, but really, one of her biggest buffs was the nerfs to her worst matchups. This way, I can fire up diesel Mak and not have to feel like a prick about it.
I dunno, I think 1000 health and a new, crazy fucking damage combo are pretty nice LOL. But yeah, you’re right. It will be nice with Akuma to still copter out of the corner, but not fun when I still have to fight Super edition Cammy. Zoning characters are still sliding down the tier list a bit, I think.

Its really great to hear that you can choose the AE or Super version of a character.
what’s the point though? I mean who is going to use AE abel, honda, etc. when the super versions are better in basically every possible way. it just makes some “rebalanced” characters completely pointless to have in the game at all. for most characters they either got better or worse in the move from super to AE. it’s not like “oh this move got a little better, but this is a little worse.” they’re either better, or they’re worse. period. so it will just make one version of each character completely obsolete anyway. they may as well have just made the better version of the character the “AE” version.
In my case I’m just glad I can still use the Super version of Blanka and, depending on what goes on with tournaments, utilize the shittier AE version of him for practice as well.
So, when they say Super version… do they mean WITHOUT the damage nerfs?
Hey guys, I’m considering buying that Castlevania game on XBLA, but was wondering something. My internet sucks balls, and I wanted to know if the game could handle a bad connection during multiplayer, and if not, is it worth picking up for the single player at all?
Wait you can use either version of the char…? What was the point of the re-ballance then? No Cammy player will use AE version why would they she lost her best tool. No Abel player will use AE either for all the nerfs he took. Thats fucking stupid. If they wanted to leave the “stronger” version of the chars in the game why did they nerf them in the first place. Who is gonna use AE Ryu or AK when super version can get out of corner pressure much easier? Why would Eraser ever use AE Rose where U2 is basically worthless? Jesus

Well, how else were they going to please everybody that played Super? People are dropping the game because one of their character’s moves got nerfed. Now all they have to do is move the stick and press A, and they’ve got their baller ass TKCS back. The only other way it seems they could have made them happy and fight the whole “purposely unbalanced” backlash was to revert everyone that got nerfed back to their console incarnation, or make further changes to the characters. I actually thought the latter would be the case, especially considering Yun, but whatever gets the thing out on schedule takes priority, I guess.
It is kind of a lazy approach, but it’s not the worst option.

I kid I kid. SO I can go back to GH knockdown Gief. I have to say, it might be useful in certain matches, switching between O.Gief and N.Gief.
Also, yeah there are certain characters that clearly have better Super counterparts, so hurray games.
I really don’t understand how it could be seen as a bad thing. AE was less balanced, and they basically removed turtling/defensive styles of play. I’m all for rush down but they really did just eradicate an entire style of play from the game. That is stupid. They rebalanced because I’m sure at the time they had no idea if/when/how they were ever going to port it to console. Being able to play both versions basically just means they buffed the lower tier without nerfing the top tier. I always thought that this was generally considered to be by far the best way of approaching balance in SF. Who fucking cares if AE Ryu is never used? You think anyone was picking N. Sagat in tournaments over O. Sagat in Super Turbo?

Didn’t see the AE trailer. You can choose either Super or AE version of your characters even when your opponent picks the opposite? That’s kinda goofy. At least I get my good ol’ Cammy back.
