I really don’t want to be the one to drag this out, but I’ll bite.
Generally speaking, it’s not a good idea to call an entire city out and if you’re surprised that there’s resentment towards you then…well, you should have known better. It’s more surprising to everyone else that after basically telling the majority of Memphis that they are bad at video games and then putting hundreds of dollars of your own money up against everyone you deem worthy, you think it’s undeserved hate. People don’t like being called out. Makes for some bad blood.
I’m pretty sure everyone gets what you’re saying when you say you’re doing it to make everybody better, but you’re doing it wrong. What you’re trying to do isn’t called “transforming into super saiyan on-blast mode” or whatever, it’s called constructive criticism, and instead of telling absolutely everyone what a few people are doing wrong and walking away from it, you tell them how to do it right, one-on-one, preferably in private, and preferably in person. Progress comes from action, not talk, and embarrassing an entire region by calling them out on shortcomings while doing nothing to actually fix any of it is NOT progress. I don’t know all the nitty-gritty details of the whole gdbell v. Memphis Rumble in the Jungle MM Mayhem business or whatever you wanna call it, and I don’t know anything about all this food you keep on talking about, but this? This is fundamental community interaction stuff.

Lycan, it’s cool man, and it’s probably for the best. We can have the drinking contest that weekend too, probably forget about it after we’re both drunk, then play some street fighter. Also, we are NOT combining the drinking contest with our MM. I suck at that game when I’m drunk.

I will take this opportunity now to let everyone know that I may have to postpone next Wednesdays Fight Night as well. Per my agreement with Hastings, I have to attend every gathering that is held there, to supervise and clean up. Mainly to just make sure everything runs smoothly. I will likely not be able to attend and perform these duties next week because I will be going out of town early the next day.
I will see if I can arrange something for next week, but until I get things confirmed, please consider next week’s gathering postponed til the following week. However, hey, it’s Evo the next day! Things should be fun regardless.

Shawn… where do I start? We went through 2 matches, 2 different characters, and I missed the Ultra both games… except the last hit. Hilarious shit man. Also, that just wasn’t good sportsmanship with Vega. That shit isn’t cool man.

I think the community’s point has been made from tonight. I thought it was a little overkill but whatevs, if there was a device that allowed me to turn off all button input at my whim while he played he woulda done alot better, Too much button mashing. I do hope he gets a better understanding of the game, if he comes out every wednesday I’ll dedicate 30 minutes of my time sitting down with him and playing him and telling him what he should and should not do and why.
