Also, Linuka just informed me he quit playing SF entirely not just because of stuff that happened at MTAC, but because of the way he was treated by people leading up to it…
Guys, this is YOUR community. All this passive aggressive craptalk of people is killing it and uninviting to members coming into to play here and it is a reflection of our scene as a whole. Talking about someone’s skill, way of thinking, way of life; etc WILL get back to them, and honestly it’s as immature as it gets.
Linuka was a valuable player in the community. He supported the arcade, he supported the tournaments, and he placed well at them and is a good player. I hate to see him not around any more but now because he doesn’t feel welcome he’s not having fun because of it.
If anyone here expects our scene to GROW we have to act a bit more open to players…
I for one lament the loss of Linuka in our scene. He was not only a nice guy but he had a decidedly unique style that we simply won’t be able to replace.
Agreed. I found him pretty easy to get along with, not sure why anybody had a problem with him.

Man, I really was looking forward to this week too man. I even found MK: Armageddon! 
Scott was bringing VF5 and was gonna Vanessa the shit out of everyone. That would’ve been too funny.
We do need a better system though for bringing setups. Everyone was just coming and hoping some people brought setups. Let’s discuss this more as the weeks go on.

When Gdbell came on here and disrespected Memphis SF players, I addressed it cause it was not cool (certainly not from some fly on the wall that on one would recognize on the street). This is a guy who called out people for MMs but wanted them in 30 days so he could “train.” (Yeah, like he is gonna leapfrog the next guy if he was already that much better) But he rides the coattail of everyone from Nashville. That’s just city bias based on nothing and was creating resentment.
The thing with Linuka for me was different, personal. #1, he said there was no comp in Knox. I could have understood if he said he was the only one who traveled but he made it sound as if he was beating ass in every game - not the case. I said he was not the best at any game except GG (I say that with an *; you’d have to ask Thomas cause I suck @ GG LOL). If that was not the case, wouldn’t he have come to the forums to dispute what I was saying?
#2, we supposed to be friends. I have known the guy for five years. That was a complete diss to me and everyone else in Knoxfighters. What kinda ass do you have to be to put everyone on blast like that? I hardly even came to the forums before recently. I saw some of his snide comments and thinking “That’s just David,” but eventually I was like :lame: and said something.
#3, the attitudes of players in Knox is what kept guys from traveling or getting serious. We went from meeting every week no matter what to seeing each other like twice a season. I don’t want to see that happen anywhere else. Shit talking is fine and dandy but you can tell when tensions are rising. David alienated himself by saying no other Knox player was comp. Speak with Thomas about if you like. David might have been the best at GG, that’s it.
Imagine if no one in Nashville came to the TN forums and Shawn (not putting you on blast, just an example) said everyone else in Nashville wasn’t worth playing. Nashville guys would be quite annoyed. But it doesn’t take much courage to spread a fable you don’t think those in question will ever see. :cybot:
No one should try to separate themselves from their city EVEN IF THEY ARE WAY BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE THERE. Hell if it was like that David should’ve been trying to help us. Instead he just came on here and bragged about beating everyone when it wasn’t happening that way. So you’ll have to excuse me for not giving a damn about his hurt feelings. He faking the funk and got called out on it. That’s it.
I can maybe get a hold of a second TV but I can only guarantee a 360 and a ps2.

Edit: If you have an HDMI capable monitor and are willing to bring it to Hastings, let us know. We have HDMI cords galore and can hook them up to ps3s or 360s.

Dream: It had been happening for a long while though and it wasn’t only about the SRK stuff. David made it clear he thought he was the best but often did wakeup Makoto SA2 and shit like that, shrug. I digress.
I actually just got the last roadblock out the way for this weekend and will without a doubt be there. Also, I will have Plutonium Jones and another guy (I think he will enter under Devil trigger) who is completely new to the scene with me. We have randomly been doing 4 out of 7 sets trying to just get some practice in. PJ is a Rose player and I think DT will be using T Hawk. Not sure who I will use yet.
So chithappens is at the epicenter of Linuka leaving the scene…how ironic.
Memphis guys: I always show up with a PS3+TV setup wherever theres is Street Fighter being played. Who else plans to go tonight? I know I’ll be there if anyone else wants to go.

Apparently, that’s what you expect of me so how is that irony? Baka ni shimashite.
We all understand how important our players are and that we need to preserve, but he always talked about how he played the game and would be incredibly cocky in and out of the game. No one wanted to play with an attitude like that so no one wanted him. That and with all the players in Knox it’s my understanding that he didn’t even try to get together with them.
I don’t know what happened with David/Linuka and MTAC at all. I had no part in it, but David didn’t always have the best attitude toward the game and the players. Just saying. I like him just fine, though. I have nothing against him. Hopefully he’ll come around, because he is definitely not bad at the game. Especially in casuals, he was pretty impressive with ol’ Roo.
Okay, if people still want to try, I’m down. I have a 360 console but no monitor. So if someone has a spare TV, post up.

Anyway, I was not aware there was going to be a “big turnout” for this weeks Fight Night at Hastings. Normally, we have at least 3 setups from Lycan, Sev and Squabbler, all of whom were going to be unable to make it this week. Therefore, I was of the opinion that it would be better to cancel this week’s event, and instead try for a better one next time. Instead of posting my regular “Fight Night” post, I went ahead and let people know I was going to cancel.
Now I’m hearing that more people would be coming, and that’s great. However, without a good number of setups, I would not be able to accommodate all the attendees. I apologize to everyone that is disappointed, but please understand that I want people to come and have a good time, instead of coming and not getting to play because of equipment shortages.
I mean, FlyMike’s post was the first I had heard that the guys from Sean’s house were thinking about coming out, and that was after midnight last night. Without communication, I have no way of knowing all the info I need to make decisions. In closing, due to the additional interest, I will be keeping an eye on the thread, and if we can get 4 or more setups confirmed, I’ll host tonight. Please let me know what’s up guys. Thanks again.
Edit: I also wanted to thank Lycan, Squabb and Sev for being the “go-to” guys in this regard, as far as bringing equipment is concerned. We’d have been unable to get this far if not for your generosity.

To anyone who wants some Sim practice I’ll be online around 3:30pm central time. Send me a note and I’ll invite you. I’m working on a few new tactics with the stretchy man, and I could use some good sparring sessions.
So, I think I can get another TV. Scott has committed his PS3 and 360 as needed. I would also feel like we can do this if we can find two more TVs
