TENNESSEE THREAD- We Put Money Matches On Layaway!

Because we know who they are. Just go back a few pages. Just trying to keep the salt down by not calling someone specifically out. I may get put on the “ignore list”. :badboy:

No can do sir! Would love to but still unemployed but I believe that is about to change. I also have someone coming next week who wants to learn how to play so I told him I could show him the basics.

Anyway, I have a proposition. Lets set up these money matches for sometime in August. Why so long?

  1. Most of you guys are preparing or trying to prepare for Evo. As anti-Tennessee or Memphis scene I may sound, I still support you guys 110%. I like the scene in both cities and would like for you guys to do well. I may have slight beef with say Hiryu, but I want him to straight face palm slam people with Hawk all day.

  2. If these MMs actually go down, money is tight and people are broke. Times are hard and we should all understand that. This would give us time to actually have the money.

  3. Gives me and others time to practice and learn the jist of the match-ups. Not going to lie, I need execution practice, however, once I get a solid 30 days of that under my belt I honestly think I can beat the people Im about to list. Which leads me to…

People I want a MM with:

  4. Duckie- $5000

  5. Hiryu- $50

  6. Squab- $50 (yes sir, you have made the list)

  7. Jan- $50 (you too, have made the list since you feel the need to call me out)

  8. Sev- $20 (easy money for you Sev…right?)

Im pretty sure the Duckie one will not go down even though he was the one who called me out on it because he knows just as well as I he will lose that 50…hands down. As for Squab and Jan, you two seem to have an itch for kinda putting me on front street lately and Im cool with that. But as my motto states “lets just pick up the sticks”. I know Jan will be tough but I wouldn’t want a money match with him if I didn’t think I could beat him. As for Squab, I KNOW I can beat you. I didn’t even touch Sagat one time the last time we played and we went to the wire every match. I can beat you sir and to be honest, I think I can beat you easily and I will leave it at that.

Im always for adjusting the amount. It can be a s little as five. We can even MM for food. As most of you know I love food!!! I will MM for a Hot n Spicy McChicken or a box of swiss cake rolls! Doesn’t matter. I just know out of the 5 listed, I can beat 4!!!

To the Nashville peeps: Im not going to lie, I know you guys are pretty good and to be honest you would wreck most of the guys here in Memphis. The only ones who would compete with you would be Lycan, Sev, and Woostick…and of course Cylus but he is semi-retired. I can say this as a matter of fact because I have played both Shawn and Chris and everytime you guys post results, they arent winning every tourney. It is always mixed, which is quite the contrary here in Memphis. So trust me sir Fenix, I don’t think our scene is better. I mean think about it, we use Lil Majin as a crutch when we want to discuss Nashville v Memphis or top 5 in Tennessee, but the guy **HATES STREET FIGHTER 4. AND EVERYTIME I SEE HIS NAME COME UP IN STREET FIGHTER TALK I CAN DO NOTHING BUT SHAKE MY HEAD. THE BEST STREET FIGHTER PLAYER IN MEMPHIS…HATES THE GAME! LOL REALLY???**We are making conscious strides to try and level up here, but I still believe Nashville has a slight edge.

In closing, Memphis folks always have something to say or want to people on blast, yet when I play most of you, I come away unimpressed. No offense Squab, but when we played those 10 matches a couple of months ago, I was unimpressed sir. That is why I can’t understand why you seem to want to put me on blast sometimes. That is why I didn’t understand why Duckie tells eraser he could wipe the floor with me…when I beat him in under 20 seconds in the March toruney. You don’t have room to talk!!! Don’t call me out for not coming to fight nights when most of you that do go aren’t beating me by much when I do come! If this offends you, then Im probably talking to you, if not, then you cool.

Think about the money matches people. The best way to shut me up is to beat me when Im at my best and I WILL be at my best when these matches go down. I will be waiting.

Similar to Vanilla there is a kind of stigma about Super for some of the locals. Its like you cant to both cause one game is looked down on. Marcus reps the boxers by rocking Steve Fox on cats at least. I agree though he would be scary if he played it more.

As for statements with dignity I have another

TN/MS crew drinks at Evo as well.

For the record, I have the utmost respect for the Memphis scene.

Hey guys, everyone should sig BattleStream to support. Especially if you are active outside of the Regional forums!

Also yes, I wanna agree with Shawn. At the end of the day it’s all love with Memphis crew. (pause) No homo.

gabe, add me to the list please.

I just told Marcus and Rell about all the wtf hype in this thread. I don’t think they really care. Went right back to playing Tekken lol.

It’s all love for every crew. But hype and rivalries are what feeds the competitiveness of a scene. Competitiveness is what feeds progression, the ability to legitimately get better and everyone pushing one another. To have a real reason, a DRIVE, to level up and tap into instinct, reaction, endurance, and all the shit that can’t be found in a guide or match videos, this is what getting serious is all about. Playing stops being fun and becomes something else entirely. A need…a desire…to break asses off.

Too bad hype shit is popping after I quit for real (no use in half-assing it anymore), but I must admit, I’m a bit amped myself. Make it happen.

Wow. So me retaining my sanity depends on this game being stellar.

Man, I thought you fell waaaaay off. Lies. So next time you get the full sumo body treatment with oils. Yes homo. I’ll also try to make it to Southaven at least once before you guys leave out to get a good long productive session and shit. BAEK ONLY from now until then, so if you lose, it def won’t be from execution. I’m gonna see that you get more prepared than I EVER was. O too.

I think Abe has a slight interest in Tekken now. :wgrin:

Lmao! You so damn sorry. Here, Law vs Ganryu-well, Taka:

Wishful thinking at it’s finest.

Good games to Max!

WooHoo to Gabu-chakakan!
This guy is preparing to body you fools! Callin ya’ll out and shit!!! I wouldn’t go so high stakes though gabe… Try to keep these matches at around 10 to 20 dollars!

Much love and respect to all the scenes! (no homo). It’s all about the comp!!!

Also, for the record, I love Memphis, that’s why I want too play against you peoples.

Also, so we SHOULD be spreading Battlestreams.net around NOW in the Alpha stage? Just wondering.

One more thing, is there a way to communicate among one another on Battlestreams kind of like facebook or some other network sites?

I would say that it’s OK to talk about BattleStream.net in the context that it’s a site that’s not quite finished but open for business.

Creating an account, posting a profile picture, following players that you’re interested, RSVPing for events that you want to attend. All of these things help the site gain its legs.

But, the #1 thing that anyone can do to improve the site is to add your events to the system so that the site has more content.

And Fenix, no. I currently don’t have plans for any direct communication as I am not really looking to try to compete with facebook. I fear that by adding this kind of functionality communications would end up being distributed amongst multiple locations creating the kind of confusion and disparity that I’m hoping to correct with this site. I just want to be a centralized location for events and player participation awareness. Once we’re done adding more polish and smoothing out the user experience we’re going to add some features like photo albums, videos, and live streaming embeds. But, frankly at this point we’re just trying to get the site looking proper. It’ll probably be another week and a half of daily tweaks before things start to look right.

You are right Lycan. So here is my revised list:

Duckie: $500,000
Hiryu: $10-$20
Squab: $10-$20
Jan: $10-$20
Sev: $10-$20

And Eraser wants in too I see. I will think on it. And ditto Lycan on the scenes. Much love!

P.S. Man Lycan don’t be to scared of Argentina. I actually have yall upsetting them. We will see. Legoooooo USA and Japan!!

Bison player from memphis looking for some local comp to step my game up

Holy crap alot happened after I posted that…

DreamTR: I can’t come on July 3rd because one of my friend’s birthday happens at that same day, but SBO qualifier? Heck yes, all for it. Honestly I want to make myself known from my results, people can assume anything they want from that, I honestly don’t care. And yeah my house burned down so my internet sucks now in the apartment, that’s why it’s a rare occasion for me to be online. The comment about final round was because I literally switched from a pad to a stick for the first time mid-tournament because my PS3 converter was complete crap, and I won’t lie I got lucky as hell in the brackets…

P.S: Were the top 5 players not at Mtac? I know I played a dhalsim, and doom (some of our money match got cut off after the first set since his controller broke…conveniently…j/k complete accident…and then our finals exhibition match where the xbox got the red ring of death mid-match…I swear nashville doesn’t want our matches to happen)

As for all the money match lists, sure, whatevs. Competition is fun, and I will respect anyone whether they win or lose.

And sorry I’ve never got into the whole region thing, so hyping up Memphis v Nashville does nothing for me personally, I just care about individuals.

add me on XBL if your from memphis and we can play some games and work out meet up for offline practice etc etc

my Bisob is pretty good B rank now but havent played ranked in weeks

no more bisons allowed in memphis

Alright, sounds good Shawn. I’ll put it in my sig, and say it’s in the alpha stages too.

Mike: I fell off huh, you know you loved getting tech trapped and re-juggled. I’ll give you this you didn’t let it happen twice though. Jokes aside your right I have done way more practice in SF than Tek. Hence my trying to focus more on it before evo. Proff Gene have me a hilarious pep talk with in the parking lot. I wish you could have heard that ish. Just get at me whenever if I can make time in my schedule we will get the practice in. And yes its all Korean Corner Store Owner

GD: Aug is fine but actually any time is fine with me. I usually have a 20 in my pocket at hastings anyway for dinner after I’ll throw it down on a MM any time. And hell we usually do beer matches every week anyway. All I know is if there is this big set of MMs they need to be recorded for posterity. And an FYI I dont know when you last played Eraser but he, like the whole crew, has come a long way from the PP tourney if thats the last time you played him so be ready.

LOL: Really another damn Bison player…man def a big welcome and we look forward to seeing you at Hastings on Wed or other gatherings if you can make it but damn how many Bison’s does this city have? I never thought he would be that popular.

A lot of us meet up every wednesday at Hastings off of Germantown Pkwy from 7pm to 10pm.

Shit, is all this MM going down on only the 3rd? I can’t make it, but I’ll be there the 24th.

LOL, well, at least you admit you want to be known from results. I kind of gathered that, and at least I know now I wasn’t smoking crack.

And no, the MTAC tournament year number 2 was a joke to say the least…

The top players you haven’t played yet : Charlie, Patrick, Q (if anyone has words about why he’s on this list, 3rd and 5th place in two tournaments with all the best players accounts for SOME respect here) Jacob Ford, Eugene (who are all considered right around top 5 out here) and Max is actually a Ken player dabbling with Dudley. I’m along the lines of Cylus here, semi-retired and I don’t even enter local tournaments, the only ones I have entered were GameStop Nationals and South Florida Challenge but I play everyone here extensively…

However, you just admitted it yourself, you just assumed winning MTAC you beat up on Nashville when a ton of the players including some of the best ones were not there…if you say you “care” about individuals and such, you sure aren’t up as to who the best players are out in the entire state, LOL…I’m not sure if that is why you haven’t been to one of our tourneys yet, but picking the 8 man weeklies and a Jackson tournament and MTAC just don’t cut it (no offense to the players that go and support these tournaments) because you need to go where the best overall comp is and right now for SSF4 that is Nashville not to be confused with the MTAC event…
