Venue fee will be 100% refunded if you bring a FULL setup (TV, Console, Game AND Cables)
If you bring only a system/game/cable OR a TV venue will be 50% refunded.

Venue fee all (or in part) to be refunded AFTER the tournament for which the setup was brought has CONCLUDED (or is no longer needed). If you leave before the end of the tournament you will not receive the venue fee back. Sorry to do this, but we want to prevent setups being unavailable because equipment donors would/could not stay for the duration.

Wow, some of this is pretty fucked up. I personally haven’t seen “trash talk” even at majors get truly disrespectful. Even Atlanta who basically just start screaming and jumping around never get just intentionally mean, and I love all of those guys. People just insulting and actually getting hateful over shit like video games, sports, etc. are the fucking worst.

Unsurprisingly, the fighting game community is a bastion of immaturity. The culture of childish Asian girl objectification. The dichotomy between male and females at tournaments is pretty fucking obvious. There’s skinny little girls and big fat dudes. The man boys who participate feel that they have a right to judge women based solely on their appearances despite their own glaring lack of fitness and hygiene.

In short: I do not expect anything but the worst from a majority of fighting game players as --in my mind-- they represent the dregs of humanity. This is why I so appreciate the TN scene. Most of it.

The sad thing is that the fighting game community is still way better than almost any online gaming community. FPS games tend to be the worst, as well as anything online on a console game (another reason I prefer PC gaming).

The social ineptitude is even worse. For as much as people cheer on the “top” players they wonder why some of their heroes have the communication and social skills of a 7 year old. We all want to make sure our “group” gets better as a whole (Tennessee) but the problem is inane posts, attitudes, and ignorance at any traveled area to a tournament make us look ridiculous at times…

I know one thing, I haven’t seen anything like this at any of the tournaments I have held myself at the arcade (I think Richard said when I was out of town some Georgia players were disrespectful for a tourney) but if anything like that happens (like what happened with the Houston female gamer) they would be asked to leave, we just don’t tolerate that kind of behavior…

There was some negative communication when the GA guys were there but we’ve gotten to know them a bit better and they are pretty cool.

Re: “Top Players” and social ineptitude. This is NOT unique to FG’s. It’s the same in other subcultures. I was heavily involved in the skateboard scene and industry for over a decade, the top pros and the culture of yes-men and immaturity is very similar.

You take these young kids, who have talent doing something relatively different, like skateboarding. And you raise them up, praise them, sponsor them, give them everything except real guidance and consequences, and then be surprised when they become druggies, die or just washed up, useless people at the age of 29 with no job or social skills and no money, who were never good at anything except riding a skateboard.

FG sponsorship isn’t even close to the amount of money that goes through the skateboard industry. Take a look at that scene if you want to see where the whole sponsorship mess is, several years in the future of the competitive FG scene.

@ Community Stuff: I think you can find the dregs of humanity in pretty much every community. Like Cylus said look at FPS people, or hell College Sports fans, football fans, Halo Fans ect. Are there plenty of people who keep the stereotype alive and well sure? Those people are also usually the loudest the majority of players I have met in every state are fine.

I would try to make these. Mid-TN needs a little more than once-a-month things.

Some stuff I saw at Final Round irritated me. There were two Asian women (who were very good at GG btw) that took part in several tournaments there. Every time I saw them, a different random guy was “talking” to them, and I could tell that they were getting frustrated by it. Of course, these guys were only talking to them because they were Asian and they were women.

I actually talked to them because they came up to me, asking if they could borrow my converter. Both of them said I was one of the most respectful guys there, and after seeing guys run up to them like drooling dogs, I don’t doubt it…

Either way rent I2 buy AE. The same ridiculous karma system is preset from them first one. Dont get me wrong I liked the first one all right but the choices were usually stupid. Choose to A: Take all the food present in an area for you and your friend even though you would never get through it all before some of it spoiled or B: Give it ALL away to everyone else? How that kind of shit even makes it into a game supposedly about “choice” in this day and age is mind boggling.

It looks nice for sure. I just hoped they would adjust the decision making to something less retarded. I think the two females that accompany you make it even worse since they are the epitome of the “good” or “evil” persona. So when they advise you it sounds even more ridiculous. I will still play it but as a rental at best. Just me though.
