Holy shit.

Buy.com - ASUS ML228H 21.5" Ultra-Slim LED Backlit LCD Monitor

Anybody in the market for an EVO Monitor? New generation of EVO-spec ASUS monitor, 2ms response time. Slim as hell. If I were looking for a new computer monitor and played fighters I’d be all over this.

This is hot. This might have to happen. This might have to be mine.

Good news no dodo.:clapdos:
Also GGs to everyone I played at GG today.

PS Pat I HATE U!

That is all

I don’t know about learning him as another character in your arsenal, but dicking around (with purpose) in practice mode never hurt. At your level, the best thing you can do would be to play with him in practice mode until you get used to seeing his moves and recognizing them on sight. Also, you can play vs the computer in practice mode on “ultra hard”… that’ll make you get very used to seeing his moves regularly.

Moves you need to immediately look out for against Hwoarang:

  • b+3 - left kick launcher, foot goes straight in the air. punish with lei’s d/f+2. also punishable by baek, but don’t know with what

  • d+4,4 - really low kick into rising launcher. Duck the 2nd hit on either whiff or normal hit. launches on counter-hit. Gene won’t use this much, but he might against a newbie. If you show you know to duck the 2nd hit, he’ll have to stop using it

  • d/b+3 - low spinning left kick. Goes under highs and has very good reach. Punish with ws3 as lei and whatever baek has for punishable lows.

  • d/f+2 - launches on normal hit against standing opponent. safe. really good. doesn’t launch crouchers. crushes jabs. don’t whiff a lot of jabs in hwoarang’s face or he’ll throw this.

  • d+3,4, d+4,3, d+3,4, d+4,3 repeating gay horseshit… - low, high, low, high, low high repeating shit. I don’t know if Gene uses this, but it’s really an annoying tool that all Hwo’s keep in their arsenal. If Gene has done this against you, you’d know it. He can stop at the low, or stop at the high and go into Flamingo into other moves . Every 2nd hit of this shit is a high and auto-transitions into a Flamingo stance. Learn to recognize d+3 immediately and duck + punish the 2nd hit before he has a chance to mix you up from Flamingo.

  • d/f+1 - one of his best pokes. mid, doesn’t do much dmg, but annoying.

  • JFSR (just-frame sky rocket) - f,n,d/+4 (f,n,d,d/f+4 = non just frame version) - huge huge launcher with blue sparks on his feet. don’t try to punish this if you see blue sparks. if he fucks up the input and gets no blue sparks, then it’s punishable. figure out how to punish with lei and baek.

  • f,f+3 - spinning mid kick that looks like Cammy’s focus attack, minus the jump. very safe. don’t try to attack after this. just move afterward.

  • RFF (right foot forward) f,f+3 - huge jumping Cammy focus attack (lol). knocks you flat on the ground; binds if it catches you rolling or in a combo. step it either way.

  • RFF 3~4 - spinning high kick, tracks both ways (homing, white trail follows his foot) - hurts like a big motherfucker, but is high. Gives frame advantage on block, so don’t attack afterward; just block. duck if you know he’s gonna do it.

  • u/f+3+4 or u/f+3+4,3 - jumping multikick move. safe poke. attack with mids afterward as he’s at disadvantage on block.

As a rule, constantly sidestep / sidewalk to YOUR LEFT against Hwoarang. That’s his weak side by far. ALSO!!! If he gets on top of you with a ton of offense and doesn’t do any in/out or left/right movement, just goes into more and more attacks, you can stop all that horseshit with a simple d+1 (or however your characters do immediate crouch jabs). After a while, he can bait those out and low parry them into combo if you become readable… but if you do them here n there he’ll have to stop. Crouch jab, then either move away or run in to mix him up–but don’t catch a d/f+2 trying to run in!

Also, Gene has a bad habit of sidestepping / sidewalking the exact same direction ALL THE TIME. I don’t know if he always walks “up” (into the screen / background) or “down” (out of the screen / foreground) but you can figure it out by watching him. Know what moves of Baek’s and Lei’s track those directions and hurt a lot. Gene likes to do a move that’s safe but still heavily negative, then walk to try to sidestep you trying to jab afterward (baiting your jab with a negative but safe move).

oh damn that’s sexy… hmmmm time to count de monies

oh shit, Phil just raised a good point – I say that’s an EVO monitor, but that’s not like…the OFFICIAL EVO monitor or anything. It’s got the same specs as the ASUS vh236h monitor. Minus speakers. I didn’t see that.

It’s a nice display but you’ll either need headphones or a cheapo set of desktop speakers.

Sev - Weren’t you saying something about playing at your house early today?

Yeah GG’s… very short set but we’ll some more matches in soon…

Team Knoxville = Me, You, Josh, Thomas, Aaron (Dragonplex - even tho I dont see him on SF lately)

How can we get in on this action? I have a feeling we could do some damage (that is if Josh/Thomas were down to pick up the slack)…

btw GGs tripp - I’ve just picked up Adon and he’s really fun,… I just have NO IDEA what a good AA is with him… anyone have any suggestions?

Kodee: Thank you sir. That is extremely helpful. Basically everything you said was spot on. He def uses the d+3, 4 d+4,3 shit on me and gay horseshit is exactly right. Looking back on it, I should have noticed this before, but he does always walk in the same direction. He kills me with SS and/or SW alone though. He dodges so much of Baek’s stuff but I think a lot of that is me being spaced poorly and what not. I didn’t get a chance to use Lei the other night since I think i’m better with Baek and wanted to judge my improvement in general.

10x: Some people were interested in coming by for either SF training or Tekken grudge matches. Lycan and FlyMike are maybes along with Jas. If Mike comes the Tekken will come out for sure. I should be free at 1 CST I have a few meetings in the morning. Give me a call or PM or whatever if you are interested.

Krazy: His fierce DP done as late as possible is an awesome AA. If your looking for normals cFP catches a lot of stuff though you have to be kind of early IIRC. sMK works if done early and you can catch them on the way up, close sFP will stop just about anything above his head like Abel’s close standing fierce.

Sev - thanks man! Yeah I was looking for normals so def appreciate the advice - I will check it out later today…

Also, put Puzzle Quest 2 on my phone the other day… not a good idea - that stuff is addicting!!! Just sucks that they pulled the online multiplayer for now… what is it with Namco and online multiplayer… get with it!!!

It’s great when the only reason I come to class is so I can surf the internet. lol Attendance is pointless sometimes when you do all your assignments at home.

Ok if you haven’t reserved MvC3 yet don’t bother trying to do it if you want the Special Edition at Gamestop. I tried to go in yesterday and they said they have taken it out of their system so I’m assuming they are done with taken preorders on at least the SE. If you want to reserve the SE and get it on release date do it through Amazon.com and not Gamestop.com. Amazon will charge you just the $70.98 where as Gamestop charges you $10 extra for release date shipping.

That is all for the Dopplerjoker Forecast.

Those special editions aren’t going to be that hard to find after release. GS employees say they will, but it’s usually to build pre-order sales. Hell you can still find sealed limited edition copies of Bioshock 2, Mass Effect 2, even GTA4.

Unless you just absolutely have to have that preorder reciept in your hand, just wait and go buy it on release day

It’s called assurance, look it up

lol.

anyone in memphis planning on hosting this weekend?

If Squabbler hosts we can do a Nashville vs Memphis team tournament.

you are committed to this arent you? lolz
