Tennessee Thread - We have Arcade Edition. Come play with us

GGs to Nashville. You guys are tough. The 3 outta 5 matches wasn’t such a good Thing for me apparently… :frowning:

Cody, I just checked on the Tekken thing you mentioned about it being #1 in Asia for 5 years, but that only refers to earnings…

Tekken makes more money because it takes casual players less time to play a match. Arcade operators LOVE Tekken.

Now this is the kicker about it…(at least from our earnings history)

Tekken made about $300 a week on average at Game Galaxy, and the times it made $400-500 a week were when the Memphis/Bristol/Alabama/Atlanta contingency came down…

$300 a week average and the majority were just random casuals walking in to play the game, but only 3 or so dedicated players in the entire area. That just means there’s a lot of players playing it, but as it was here and many areas, it never directly correlates to tournament players…

That’s something to look at SSF4 makes more money than Tekken right now, but it’s mainly a core group of 10 people that just keep spending the money. Way less casual players playing Street Fighter, way more hardcores, and Tekken flip flops that for earnings…

It’s very interesting to look at what people choose to play and why in these instances…

…Marvel is going to gobble up everything and be a monster soon…just a shame we can’t have an arcade version of that thing before console…

However, when we do get Marvel vs Capcom 3 for public play we will let you guys know here immediately…

Yeah, lag was atrocious. GGs tho, guys.

I see all this, but what are you getting at? Are you just observing or are you implying something?

And when I made that statement I was referring to overall popularity / playing of the games, not necessarily tournament players. I never implied that Tekken necessarily has more tournament players, though it might or might not. In referring to online playability, I think that means a LOT to a game’s overall popularity and number of sold units. I don’t believe the trends of arcades here have any ability to be compared to the trends in Japan – basically, in America, online IS the arcade. Their #2 game is a Gundam game, and I’m pretty sure that wouldn’t be anywhere near as “hot” here for a long period of time.

I was the Chun/Guy player…

GGs to the Memphis team. Much love for you guys.

I’ll upload the videos ASAP. You’re right. The lag was pretty shit. I’d like to find a way to make it work somehow. Friday nights may be better. I had a great time tonight.

Thanks to Patrick, Chris, Eddie, and Phil for coming out. I had the best time that I’ve had in a long time. I really appreciate it. You guys are great.

Who played for Memphis?

Yeah man this was just an overall great night. I had an absolute blast. Thanks for being an awesome host and all around badass. Watching you play Sim makes me randy.

Just10Blaze, 10x, Eraser, Lycan, and Jas

Then gdbell gauntlet.

Thanks Chris

Random question for you guys…

I just noticed in training mode that if I hold my stick to a corner then release it and let it go back to neutral it will end up reading an extra input. Usually U, D, F, or B. Is this normal for it to do that?

When you guys play, do you let the stick sort of “snap” itself back to neutral? or do you guide it by hand? I’m wondering if allowing it to “snap” back is messing up my inputs at times…

Edit: To further explain, when I let go of a corner, say UF for example, it doesn’t always input the same direction afterwards. It’s kinda random seeming. I’ve held UF, let go, and had it input U, L, R, etc.

I personally just take it back to neutral but me ever actually being in neutral position is very small time during a match. Letting the stick snap back usually leads it to hit another switch and can lead to oops jumps and walking forward.

down-back is my neutral position

I only snap back during some dashes usually going left since I use my thumb. Like Zutsuki Riot, down back is my nuetral; if you don’t know what to do wait a second in the best defensive position you can. If I’m standing in neutral I’m doing it as a sort of taunt (As if to say I’m not scared of you do what you want). Really though neutral is needed for dash inputs and that’s about the only time I’ll let it go neutral.

Whatever man you can’t even do jab hands. Get out of here you scrub.

That’s not nice Chris.

Erry day
