Krazeejl: We talked about that 6 pages back in the old thread, ROFL, where have you been? That was already a given when we get the game eventhubs/SRK, etc.
Also, streaming…Game Galaxy gets no money from it and it costs our entire internet to use it. WHat is the point? I can see if it was pay per view and we had good internet but honestly streams are the people that can’t make it to events that expect to watch for free now. I know everyone is a fan of them, and I am too, but the people that do the streams need to start charging for them. “Coverage” and “advertising” don’t do anything when the money we make mostly is from locals anyway, not from people in their living room unless they are getting charged.
Streaming might not be worth the effort, but I think having some videos up could pull some traffic. I actually have a Game Galaxy youtube page created already from when I recorded a few matches for a project last semester. Dream, if you want, I can give you and whoever wants to record some the password for it.
Patrick, you guys can post stuff on You TUbe, that’s fine, I have never recorded anything in my life, I don’t even think I have equipment for it, LOL, but go ahead, tape all you want…
Also, Memphis Players, seeing as next week is going to be the holiday weekend, does everyone want to have fight night again? I know some of us are going to be away or having family over, let me know your thoughts on this.
My perspective on streaming is that it’s mostly not worth it given the set of circumstances that we face.
Prime Challenges:
Low quality internet = low quality stream
Unreliable turnout.
Bad planning + #1 + #2 = viewers don’t care
Advantages for streaming:
People find it fun.
It can increase turnout.
I get to enter tournaments for free.
**Potential solution: **We could identify hot (with an animated fire .gif) matches by looking at the tournament tree and put them on the tv which can then be recorded in high-quality which we can then upload to youtube. We could record all other matches that land on that TV as well so some of us who aren’t Jacob Ford or Boom Cube could get some of our stuff too.
Potential advantages could include:
Potentially increased turnout.
Hot matches could linked to from Game Galaxy’s website or on SRK posts.
Free tournament entry for me.
Prime complication: We don’t have a good way to tap into the video of the Arcade Version which could definitely be used to advertise GG Arcade.
Meh. Any decent camera can record video of the screen and have it look pretty good. Obviously not the best way or at all professional looking, but it will get the job done.
