O is free… that is all… 5-3… BINGO!
New thread already? You guys are bonkers.
The thing with Lost Odyssey, the commercial for the game was better than the entire game itself.
Also, I’m tired and shit, I’ll type Joker and the rest of you dudes up some must have Genesis games here soon, if you’re looking for some old school fun.
K here’s what I got so far, I really did just type this o god. Sorry bout the lack of formatting, I was just typing it up lol
Platformers/Side Scrollers/Beatem’ ups:
Contra Hard Corps - OG Contra action, hard as balls, and a damn good one to own
Castlevania Bloodline - One of my favorite Castlevania games, Stars dude with a whip and dude with a spear and you go around the world spearing the shit out of everything.
Rocket Knight Adventures - You’re an Armadillo and you got a sword and you kill things. You also have a badass rocket booster and each level has something different in it. Rich and colorful.
Quackshot - One of the best Disney games made, you’re Donald Duck going around exploring ruins and shit, and some levels have you explore and backtrack. Kind of easy, but a really good time.
Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle - Quirky little platformer, had 3 games before it on the Master System. You punch the shit out of cars and fish, and fight bosses using paper rock scissors. Great game.
Lion King - Shut up, the game owns, and is Flymike endorsed. Go buy it, it’s like a dollar everywhere.
Sonic/Streets of Rage/Golden Axe/Shinobi - Classics, everyone and their mother has played these games.
Strider - Port of the arcade game, you climb walls and kill bosses in futuristic Russia and theres badass music and sound.
Maximum Carnage/Separation Anxiety - Really great beatemups, Spiderman and Venom punching and chomping everything in sight.
El Viento - Very colorful sidescroller where you’re an anime chick throwing boomerangs at gangsters in a futuristic 1930’s era world. Really good music and controls.
Growl - Ported from the arcade version, and just as badass. You’re an Indiana Jones lookalike guy with a whip and you fuck people up with it for them beating on the wildlife. Also rocket launchers and a dude throws a tank at you.
Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker - Pretty fun game, you moonwalk around and save kids from mr. Big or whatever then turn into a big fucking robot and shoot lasers.
The Lost Vikings - You control 3 vikings trying to get back home from wherever, and the trick is, you control one at a time, but each has their own ability so they have to work as a team to get there. Puzzles galore.
Splatterhouse 2 and 3 - Sidescroller where you beat up corpses, zombies, spirits, witches, floating heads, floating hands, and all sorts of other creepy shit. Oh, and shotguns.
Shoot em’ Ups: I’ll just let you know if its vertical or horizontal, because most of them have the exact same premise: Blow shit up and don’t die.
Raiden Trad - Vertical
Gaiares - Horizontal
Fireshark - Vertical
Phelios - Vertical
Urban/Jungle/Desert Strike - I really enjoyed these games, they are top down mission based games where you have tasks in each level, and have to do each without dying. Controls are good, and they are all easy to find.
M.U.S.H.A. - One of the best shooters out there, the music is amazing, the graphics are great, and the controls are tight. Kind of a bullet hell at times, but fun over all. Pretty hard to find though, could probably get it cart only for 50 or so (I’m still missing this one dammitoahfaoihpiajwpmnapifj)
RPG/Strategy Games:
Shining Force/Shining Force 2 - Great Turnbased Strategy RPG games, they have a pretty intricate plot, and the plot arcs over from 1 to 2 pretty well. Your units level up on the field and get new abilities as they go. Think Fire Emblem but classy and not in Japanese. Not too hard to find.
Phantasy Star 2 and 4, not 3 - These 2 games are the shit, Turnbased RPG with a lengthy play time. PS3 was pretty shitty I thought, but I’m sure its got its good points too.
Herzog Zwei - Turnbased Strategy where you control an army of Mech things and blow up other Mech things. You upgrade your units so you can kill mech things faster. Game has a steep difficulty curve. Not easy to find.
Crusader of Centy - Zelda-like overhead action rpg, but its just got more oomph that Zelda does, can’t explain it. You talk to animals and go on adventures and stuff. Hard to explain without giving the plot away.
Sports Game:
Mutant League Football/Hockey - Awesome sports titles, you play as monsters and zombies, and you can kill the ref and cheat. These games just reek of awesome, Hockey is kinda hard to find though.
Games that need their own classification:
Out of this World - Kind of a sidescroller, but with a twist. It tells a story of a guy thats trapped in an alien world, and you have to get him home. The twist is, you have to be able to react to things, like dodging bullets and bulls. Game is very movie like. Not for people easily frustrated.
Road Rash series - You ride on vehicles, punching and kicking people next to you trying to win a race. Old school fun.
That’s my tentative list for now, If I missed anything really good, then shoutouts to the forgotten ones cause I’m tired as hell. Enjoy!
Sparkster isn’t an armadillo, he’s a possum. When’s the last time you were walking and you were like damn look at that armadillo hangin’ from that branch lol.
I added Crusader of Centy to my game list, checked out the review on youtube and it seems like my kind of game. Thanks for the list Richard.
you’re my new best friend wether you like it or not
Non-gaming related, but saw it and thought of this group:
The Black Keys Take Their Act to Nashville - ABC News
Sorry if it’s already been posted/discussed
Do you guys remember a quirky platformer called James Pond? It was made by EA back in the early 90s. I can’t find the exact version I had but there was a mario 3-esque map that you could navigate and enter certain platformer type levels. It was like a mixture of elements present in all platformers plus you had really goofy weapons.

Dream or whoever else might care - you guys need to reach out to someone to get it posted about GameGalaxy getting AE in the arcade on the front page of srk… I bet you would be able to attract a decent base of people willing to travel/play that don’t want to drive all the way to Austin or NYC… anyways just a thought… I know the mindset on streaming (why do it?), but if you have all the equipment and can attract customers, why not?!
Anyways, just my 2 cents…
iQuick - dude I loved James Pond when I was younger… I had it on Sega Genesis I believe… it was a fun game I had my parents drive me out in the middle of nowhere to buy it off a guy…
Storyteller - great post about the Shining Force games - I thought I was the only person who really loved those games!!!
Memphis players: I will be hosting a gathering tomorrow from 10:30 - 3:30 at my house for anyone interested. If you are coming please being a set up or something. We will be recording the Eraser V Lycan Showdown that came about at the saucer last night. PM me if you need my address.
So what your really trying to say is that Eraser is Free? Ok…I get it now!
Is free defined as him ducking your challeneges for the last like 4 weeks. Cause ifso you are right
Question to Josh’s Mom about the tournament in Cleveland:
Is it invitational? I have family in Cleveland and I was wanting to go up there and visit. It would be nice to show up at a SSFIV major while I was there too.
Yeah, he’s just like that one guy we know who also ducks challenges!
Eddie and the other Nashville persons going to the Bowling Green: What is your plan for Friday night and for driving up on Sat? I wanted to ride with Eddie or whoever, but I’m planning to spend the night if that is still cool with Mr. Sparks and whoever I am riding with. I’ll be up late Friday and might come hang out if you guys want.
Goddamn it, I always miss the funny shit at the Saucer it seems. I’ll try and be there for the runback though.
Who’s this dude you are talking about that always ducks challenges? I’d man up if I were him, lol…
Ironic comment is ironic.
Also, wut…
Also also (there might be a pun here…), Chu’s Dynasty. Pretty fun game by an SRK member. There’s a link to the XBL title in the first post. The dev says he’s looking into GGPO for netcode if it doesn’t break their bank.
