Tennessee Thread- We Got Arcade Edition & Dem Ying Yang Twins ! Do It!

Dream, if you find the time, would you mind letting us know your impressions on Guile in AE? I’ve heard he takes counter hit damage during boom recovery now. With all the adjustments to damage, meter build etc, how do you see him shaping up? Thanks for your time.

Matt that looks nice man! How did you do it? i want to do something similar.

Your dog Roxie is pretty sweet btw! lol

Give the kid a year or so. If he’s serious, he will probably end up being better than all those people.

Honestly, his timing is totally natural so the only cap I see to his game play is patience/endurance etc…And that’s the thing that takes the most time to learn. Anyway, he’s beast for his age, any way you cut it.

Hiryu, already mentioned a few posts back Guile was significantly nerfed, especially his meter building and damage he inflicts…

10x: We’ve been playing Josh for almost a year, you are just finding out about this…Yes, he does have innate natural abilities but we have been playing with him for almost a year already, and while he does have to learn patience you can say that people can all be better based on the amount of time they have to play the game these days people have families, kids; etc…also, you played him in SSF4, something we all play, SSF4AE none of us know wtf is going on in that game right now, so many nuances so it’s hard to compare and contrast when as good as Josh is he does lose to people more in TN, though that number is very small…

Most of us agree he will eventually be better, but remember, it’s about reading your opponent as well, and that is something that you have to learn quick in tourney settings…and also, he is serious, he plays the game extensively, sometimes less than normal, sometimes more than normal but what is normal for one person is not normal for the other…

I did see your post, Dream, but I was hoping for some more new details if you had them. But thank you regardless.

Play 3s when it comes out! It only gets more fun the more you learn about it…and Makoto is a total monster so you should like it. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

He does look very strong, and the reason is because he doesn’t play like a shoto  I want more time to test the cr./st. strong in a lot of matchups I didn’t get to play very much (especially the boxer, dictator matchups). And now that he can link cr. mk from cr. strong I can see Ken getting a lot of dmg off of stuffing throw techs and other shit. Honestly though, his bad matchups are still going to be bad…just less bad.

Lol Bison Footsies.

Well, I guess you’ve got more experience with his development as a player, so I agree with most of what you said. Let the tourney results speak for themselves, right? Anyhow, I’ll just say he know when to press buttons, he just needs to figure out when to leave them alone.

When’s the first AE tourney? I’m just too hyped on this shit.

10x: Not sure when I am doing an AE tourney…not sure when I am doing any tournament again…a lot of that is stemming from people not coming to support the place the past few months when we had tournaments and Q tournaments (6 players, 2 from out of town) where we gave away a good amount of guaranteed cash…

Hiryu: Meter builds slower, less damage inflicting, Sonic Hurricane does less damage, I only played him once a couple of days ago but that is just off the top of my head…

I can appreciate your reasons for not wanting to do an AE tourney Dream, but the capitalist in me still thinks that it could be a great way to promote GG and bring in new business. That’s just me brainstorming though, I obviously don’t have a grasp of the unique logistical issues that you may have to deal with.

Hiryu: The only way to “make” money off a tournament is to charge a significant cover. $10 cover would probably do it, $5 entry, that means we are talking an expensive tournament. We also only have one setup, so the tourney has to be one match 3/5 rounds. Anytime the game is on free play it’s not making any money, hence why tourneys end up being pricey. Not saying I won’t do it, but how many people honestly are going to enter for $15?

Wasn’t the last tournament you had pretty heavily supported? If I’m not mistaken the one before that was too I think.

Yeah how about those Memphis tourneys. It’s almost been a year.

I do remember the last tourney we had, the one that Woot won, had a 20$ cover. I think Woot went home with a couple hundred bucks if I’m not mistaken. We had a full 32-man bracket at that price.

Yeah over a couple actually. Good times.

As long as there is guaranteed 25 people $15 isn’t a bad overall entry, and like Hiryu saying if people really want it 10$ cover 10$ entry is awesome.

No wonder you want another Memphis tourney! Lol, we heart you bro. Too bad you moved so far away. Peeps always looked forward to playing you.

Is there a fightnight next Wed? I gotta get at least one in before school starts again.

I would not enter a SSF4AE tourney right now because I don’t know the changes well enough to feel comfortable. Regardless of me sucking at stick, I would do a SSF4 tourney on stick if it was the only way I could play. I will be bringing some people with me to play on random weekends during the spring so that might change shortly.

Regarding the stuff with Josh: He’s very good and defintley has to potential to surpass everyone in SF. As far as I know, the people in Knoxville who are on the forums don’t really meet in person. I think the guys who were doing Knoxfighters are beginning to meet again and I will be holding get togethers at my place in Knoxville starting next month (so one way or another he will have an opportunity to exchange loads of information and get offline practice with competent players). I hope Josh comes out because they are some players he has never met who are skilled with great attitudes but they never travel or sign up on forums.

Random question for Dream: It seems like you said something a long time ago about MWC being in Nashville. Am I crazy or did you mention that (and if so any updates…) ?

Edit: And LOL @ Memphis having no tournies. There’s no real reason for this that I’m aware of.

Classement SF4 AE - BAKA OrO

I thought that was a cool link, showing the top BP players so far for AE.

Obviously alot of this is who is playing the game the most, but interesting characters in the top 20. Vega is Dic, Bison is boxer, Rog is claw. Very diverse list.

Yun seems to be Mega hit or Mega miss.

Fight night resumes next week, Woot. Hope you can make it.

About Memphis tourneys: Lack of a venue is the current issue, if I’m not mistaken. We could do it at PP again, but that would likely mean having to pay a venue fee on top of pot money. Plus space issues and the fact that the tourneys get rowdy, which we’d have to tone waaay down to have it at a family-oriented store.

I was actually considering a Flying Saucer tourney, but that locks out anyone below 21, lol. It was just a thought.
