Since when have easy mode combos been a good thing? There’s this concept that oh gee… now we don’t have an execution barrier. But, look what shit becomes… Look at Marvel… Oh god… Look at Marvel. If you want to reduce the execution needs… Make your game emphasize normals. I really wish that KoF13 was less combo oriented. I liked the balance of 2002 more.
The idea that we should want Capcom to succeed is ludicrous. I have seen no indication that Capcom’s success leads to better games. SF4 (pretty obviously Capcom’s superior recent effort) was born out of feeling the need to actually “try”. Look at everything out now. It’s the same shit as the rest of the game industry. They have it too easy because people are not critical enough. So, we get shit. They need to be made to fail. We need to make them fail. Fuck supporting a fat artist.
Your point is well taken here, but one could also argue that Capcom releases patches and reads forum comments for reader feedback because the game is successful. The changes in SFIV in each version are all responses to consumer desire. I guess maybe people should say what they want as they first see the game. Apparently, Harada with Namco is doing polls to see how people want TxSF to work out from characters, to systems in the game and that’s a great step forward in the right direction, guiding where development will go by want fans say they want instead of forcing it to them.
Shit, sorry I missed you guys last night, I was going to come out and bring friends with me, but this medicine I’m taking always seems to knock me out between 7-8pm every night. I will try my hardest to be at the next one. I need to practice UMVC3 to make sure I’m ready for the next tournament dammit. I think I am, Deadpool/Sentinel/Wesker on deck and ready to peepee touch.
Also Duckie, I got my top loader back, thanks.
Sara, check your PMs
Patrick, thanks for showing me that MVC shit with Deadpool and Sentinel, that damn mixup works like a charm. At one point, one of my friends was like “THAT’S FUCKING BULLSHIT, WHAT CAN YOU EVEN DO AGAINST THAT?!” and I said “Don’t get caugh–QUICK AS THE WIND”. So stupid.
Ha! It was mainly a reference to that stupid status Richard had about being a strong black woman. It applied to the situation though, so it fit perfectly.
The 28th is Marvel and KoF.
Also, I have one, single class this semester. It is on Tuesdays, from 6 to 9. FML
I was hoping to drop in GG next Tuesday and collect gamertags/tears (my own tears) and you know while I’m in the area maybe do something shady or get stuck in traffic. Is this the best date to go for AE casuals?
I only play that AE game Furreal™ but I will play MVC3 by which I mean I will watch you do really long combos on me while I get a sandwich. GT is “Top Hat Panda”
Tuesday nights. Those are official fight nights now. Be there or be somewhere else.
Which means I need to come out myself. I’ve always been kind of whatever about that though, mainly because it’s hard for me to make it out to my work on a day I have off lol
Now, I will say, that Capcom DID in fact listen to the Cody community, which I thought was interesting. The only reason that happened though was because the entire sub-forum posted a poll on what they thought the 20 or so most important changes needed to be in AE2012. And then the top 5 were sent directly to Capcom via the Unity boards. To everyone’s surprise, Cody received 4 of the 5.
HOWEVER, they also make dumb changes thinking it balances out a character, like damage reduction … As it’s been said before and I agree with 100% - Changing the damage on a move by 10-20 doesn’t make the move/character any less stupid. It just prolongs the BS you have to endure.
People have been expressing their opinions in MASS quantities since the ANNOUNCEMENT of SFxT. But, have you not seen all the backlash towards SFxT, especially after the gems and all this other basura were introduced? The longer the development has gone, the more and more laughable the game is becoming. And so far, it seems they aren’t listening to shit.
Chris if you’re really playing ST we need to get on GGPO. Love that game. a few minutes to learn, a lifetime to master. It’s brutal though. Like if you’re playing Dic and you get knocked down against a competent Gief, you lose. Period, no way out. He’s also an asshole in ST but for different reasons.
I want to go to fight night but I get off at 10:30 and can’t afford to pay $5 to play for an hour since it’ll take 30min to get there. ugh. same story next week. plus I open the store in the morning. That being said, I’m off Friday. So where the games at?
Just to clear things up, I’m not suggesting you go buy the game. I’m simply suggesting you hope its successful. I honestly don’t believe Capcom is kidding about the whole “if it doesnt sell we’re done” thing. I think we tend to forget there almost was no SF4. Capcom did not want to put the money up to make it. Ono basically had to beg to even get the game into development and had to beg once again to do the updates thereafter. It seems the company is still somewhat on edge with the fighting game genre. So yea, that is a real reality people have to face if the game doesn’t sell.
BUT, it will sell. because gootecksrossfiendcomboflowjwong said the game is awesome and they will play it so all the front page slaws are automatically in.
So with all that said, the game looks cool to me, though some of the Tekken characters are lol ugly IMO, so its a day 1 purchase. However, I will take this game back with the quickness if its some hot garbage. I love Capcom but I’m not that much of a fanboy! I remember when they released that trash of a game Capcom Fighting Evolution. I bought that game with some Christmas money my Dad gave me and went to the Hickory Ridge mall before all the niggas came and ruined it (RIP). Went in all smiling and happy. Bought that game with confidence!!!
Got a refund the next day…
So point is, have some faith in Capcom. They aren’t that bad. Not saying they don’t make mistakes, but they have reignited a genre we all love and we should all hope for the best!
And lol @ Mike. Brainwashed?? You slaw! Just keep playing DRY O’ FATTERS 13. I swear you love this game so much, your pants are going to all of a sudden become tighter, hair longer, demeanor more emo, shirt more snug, all that. Nigga goin be in a Maxima cosplay ramming fools into walls yelling “meatball subs!”
Gabe, you know I’m always honest with you, so don’t take this personally.
Don’t parrot what folks are saying about KOF. As I’ve said before, there exists such a thing as personal preference, so take that into account. I mean, have you played it? I mean really sat down, training mode, multiple matches vs multiple people and all that jazz? If you have and that’s how you really feel about the game, then hey it is what it is.
