Medicare is going to be in trouble anyways and health care is going to change most likely to a socialized system which it should be already.
In regards to idiot spending it’s not my job to be your mommy and daddy, it’s not the governments job either. If you are spending on dumb things then at least you are helping the economy. But SS has only existed since 1935 and its already fucked up.
I also never said you couldn’t put a lock on it, I even said I’d put a lock on it. It would be cool to set it up where you couldn’t access it till a certain age or even if you could only access it every 5 years or something, or access anytime.
I don’t think that you are getting the fact that 12% of your check is being taken by SS anyways. At this point IT ISN’T YOURS, it’s being given to people who are just retiring. That 12% should be yours bro not somebody elses, get what I’m saying. It’s extra money that is being taken from me now, why should i have to wait till I’m fucking 65. You are basically supporting a system that won’t be there to support you.
No I fully understand that SS money is not mine. I know how the system works. I just made peace with it. Its very easy to be all like “its not my job to be so and so’s mommy and daddy if they have no money then fuck em” the reality is very different than that. The fact is if a large chunk of the population has no money as they age and no longer work what do you think will happen? They don’t just disappear. So some system be it medicare, well fare or something new will be spent on them which to me is the last thing we need. And while I agree in a sense of fuck them they will have a huge impact on their surrounding community.
I read your original post quickly so if you said anything about locking people out of the account then fine all I saw was you stress you could spend the money when you were young or old. The issue is you have to take people’s stupidity into account because like it or not their stupidity will effect you and those you know and care about. Better to mitigate it since Darwinism is long gone.
Joker, Nice idea. Bad outcome I believe. It will create a influx of debt yet again. Your bascially asking people to spend money on themselves when they already don’t have money to spend. Same with the crazy stimulus package. They wanted people to pay off their credit card deb or unsecured or secured debt, and it went all to shit. I believe maybe 30% of people in the US are budget savy. The rest…Spend, Spend, Spend. You have more people living paycheck to paycheck than having people have a hefty savings and spending only 10% of your salary on non essential things. However, I agree with you in the sense that we only live once and you should live life to the fullest.
Most of us don’t realize this, but when you start getting older, you really have to start thinking about your future and where it’s heading. I know this sounds like a infomercial, but where will I be financially in 10 years, if i get there ofcourse. I have to prepare instead of saying fuck it. I don’t want to depend a crazy promise so much as you, but I have to look out for my own in a sense. That’s when a retirement plan comes in. 401k. CD’s. Investments. If I don’t see my money going away which I don’t, it makes it all the better because it doesn’t hurt as much. If I have a private social security account that I can get my hands in whenever I want, then I guarantee It will be spent on a weekly/bi-weekly/monthly/quartely basis. Which will create more debt!
Other dude named Zero said he will try to pick up Sagat since I told him we don’t have anybody that is dedicated to the character and wants to show up all the time. I’d show up more often if i had a car but it looks like Brian is willing to give me rides every Thursday so hopefully I’ll see you all more.
On another note a crazy evangelist was on campus today and it got me thinking of this Bill burr part during his stand up and I still die laughing when I hear it.

Graham if you are defending income tax I hope you actually read the Consitution part where it says, “The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any census or enumeration.”
Where does it say that Filing a federal return is required by law? Where is the statute?
Too bad income tax does all that shit ^ thus making it Unconstitutional.
Filing a return is part of the process of collecting income taxes. It is part of IRS statute; it has been codified by legislature.
Article 1 Section 8: “The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes…” and “To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof”
Thus congress has the full constitutional right to impose filing of tax returns.
If you feel the need to continue this I’d be happy to do it in PM or Aim but let’s not flood the SW thread with all of this.
