Hi, guys. A couple of guys and I from AL are gonna be making the trek here this Saturday for the tournament. It’ll be nice meeting y’all.
Mayhaps there could be a couple of side tournies too? It would be cool to try a New-Characters-Only tournament.
Zero: We just had a new characters only tournament last week. There won’t be enough time with Singles, Doubles, Tekken Singles, and 5 vs 5 or 7 vs 7.

scrub etiquette question: is it okay if i keep on raging because of a friend of mine in our little casuals group over here? he doesn’t read/post here but others that know me on here might know who i’m talking about lol. dude a) plays on PS3 pad only b) “wants to get better but doesn’t like to lose” and c) celebrates when he beats somebody, but then if anyone beats him he writes it off as “learning new stuff.” i don’t care about winning or losing among friends, but i hate playing him because he uses really scrubby tactics (focus attack charge on wakeup, jump in hit confirm jab into ultras, Makoto’s ex hayate by itself to get in on me, hopping around like crazy, etc) that don’t work most of the time, but when they do work it’s for stupid reasons. i’ll spend a whole match screwing with him and making him think he’s got me while i legitimately try things out, practice links and everything while he does his same grab/random poke/button mash BS.
i mean it’s cool that i have someone to practice combos and random bullshit on, and i don’t wanna sound elitist – i’m the absolute last person to feel like i’m above someone else – but i guess at the end of the match i don’t feel like i’ve really learned anything but how to deal with scrub tactics. the only reason i get all rage cage and whiny about it is cause it feels like i’m developing bad habits from playing him and getting used to his garbage playstyle. going up against this guy is like playing somebody online – not even flowcharting, just mashing out random qcb’s and pressing buttons and hoping he does more damage to me than i do to him. i’m by no means an expert here, but i mean imagine that one guy online that everyone’s played that enters the match shouting “AW YEAH SON BRING IT ON LET’S DO THIS ISH, GONNA STOMP YA ALL DAY” over the mic and ends up like picking akuma and spamming air fireballs. this is what it’s like playing this guy. all the time.
actually the one time this guy’s played akuma i think that’s what he did. ffffffff

While his attitude sounds frustrating, you don’t need to hold his playstyle against him. If you’ve learned how to deal with his tactics, then good on you. Keep beating him and maybe someday he’ll try things a little differently. You’re going to come up against other people that play that way, even in tournaments, so just keep true to your playstyle and don’t get frustrated. Stay classy.
The best part is when someone complains about a particular play style when they do they exact same thing. Like a Dictator saying you’re a turtle while they are holding back for nearly half the match, and will sit at full screen waiting for you to come to them (when you have the life lead) and get angry when you don’t pursue.
Damn, had I stayed in nashville for like another Hour I woulda been stuck there.

How many setups do you plan to have? I know the main focus is the ST Qualifier, but what if a shit ton of people show up? For payouts, having a ton of people is great, but cramming say 60 to 80 people in GG with only 4 setups is going to be exhausting almost!
It could be more than 80, even.
I know I won’t be entering though because no one needs a pot monster in an SBO qualifier…maybe I’ll just watch
