Damn not my stomping ground. Well save for the Norva for concerts. Oh well thanks.
We just got Hokuto No Ken in so if anyone in town for MTAC wants to stop by, that game and World’s Fastest Drummer are now here…and…we just put another TV setup removing Ninja Warriors and created some more room/space for the console section
Hooray!
Another one bites the dust. This is why I love Sir Dudley (No Homo). Jason and I were talking about this the other day. At mid range he’s average to below average but close quarters he’s a God. His fight is always going to be to get in and stay in just like Boxer but he doesn’t have it nearly as easy him. His timing is stricter. his pokes aren’t as good, most of his speacials aren’t safe on block, he doesn’t have armor added to to his EX, and he doesn’t have invincibility on alot of his moves on wake up like turn punch or ex headbutt. I’m smitten lol
I feel about dudley the same way I did gouken when I first picked him up.
As will I
next time abe starts running the room with t hawk, someone just pick bison!
edit: and i won’t be able to play tonight.
What kind of game is Worlds Fastest Drummer?

Florence’s scene may be dead. I just got off the phone with Geoff and he’s so mad that I’m not going to MTAC that he’s decided not to talk to me any more.
Good riddance.
because that’s what friends do (on his part) especially if you’re broke.
No he’s mad that I “flaked out” on him because I actually had shit to do this weekend that I couldn’t do if I was at a convention with a thousand things going on at once. Most of it school-related.
It wasn’t until they broke the news on Wednesday that they wanted to leave yesterday when I said I wanted to leave Friday, and then yesterday I decided, fuck it, it’s not worth the drive, the hassle or anything else.
This also means that I may be the only one going to GG next weekend. Though to be fair all he did was talk shit about Storyteller once he left the last time he was here.
Wow, really? This isn’t the same dude from the lobby last night, was it? GG’s btw.
No, that guy in the lobby was my other friend Drew, but he’s part of the story, this happened a month ago:
Geoff was mostly mad because when Drew brought his FightPad to the SF4 cabinet, at first Story wouldn’t let him use it. To be fair, I guess I shouldn’t have told them that you could plug in fightsticks/fightpads into the Viewlix, and they just assumed it was BYOC all the time, not just at tournaments. Then Story apparently told Drew he couldn’t put focus attack on one of the shoulder buttons. Now to be fair, if you need a macro for a move that only uses 2 buttons, that’s laziness. Story won most of the fights but Geoff blamed it on the guy who was playing him being a dick. Then again, Geoff’s the kind of guy that thinks that if something is in a fighting game it should be okay to use. That includes macros for focus attacks, special moves, adjusting the T.O.P. set in Garou, and picking Burning Ruins in TvC.
After we all got back in the car Geoff told me that he was a pretentious douchebag and that he couldn’t wait to come back and kick his ass at SF4.
Drew is an alright guy, though, he’s nice, but he also can’t handle losing sometimes.
The thing is this, I don’t even think he’s that good in close. Yeah, he has frame traps up the butt and he can combo after his overhead, but seriously, just block and tech throws and what’s he gonna do? He has no crossups or command grabs, he is not that scary up close, if he can even get there. Most characters can keep Dudley out all day and there is nothing Dudley can do about it.
I’d rather have Dudley in my face than some of the other rushdown characters with better and safer options. Also, Balrog doesn’t have to in to win. He’s far more dangerous as a counter-poker than as a rushdown character in most matchups.
Tell me about it. We’ll all be there for beastings though.
In unrelated news, Sade’s new album is amazing. Borrowed it from my mom and had it sitting on my desk, but never got around to ripping it till last night. Great stuff.
I gotta go with DT on that one. Especially in a tourney setting, no macros allowed in my book. Personally, a tournament should replicate standard arcade settings as much as possible, so NO shortcuts/macros/mapped specials.
I mean, it’s a good policy, otherwise claims that peeps won “just because he had a special mapped” would be rampant.
Sorry for the double post, but eraser:
Check this , Rose has a combo in it that while may not be doable on the regular, it contains several mini-combos that look they would be a good addition to your quiver.
I mean, I’d allow PPP and KKK to be on the triggers for pad players in tournaments, especially if they don’t own a pad with six face buttons like the DualShock3 or regular 360 controller, but anything else is just being lazy.
They keep telling me that it’s not about how many complex combos you know, it’s about if you can use the moves correctly, but I’ve yet to run across a great player that only knows combos and/or can’t execute.
Good games to you guys and Duckie last night, still working on a main… sorry my Dan didn’t compete.
I am in Southern VA in case you were wondering.
Up for more tonight? Tourny Sunday…
