I wish bro, I’d love some tocilog, but i didn’t even know there was a place for pinoy food in Memphis period. I can make a barely passable Bistek, but that’s it, sorry.

Oh, and Super is really fucking with my mind. Every time I play, I discover some previously unknown (to me) nuance of a character and all of a sudden new possibilities are opened up. My mental monologue starts going:

“Whoa, Fuerte is fun, wow Makoto is awesome, holy crap T. Hawk is great, oh man Guy is fun, omg Hakan is awesome” and so on.

I haven’t had a feeling like this since WoW. It’s very similar to leveling enough to use that new talent you were looking forward to, and now the entire feel of the game is different and new.

Like that, but with fighting streets.

So I finally got to play super for like 8 pm tonight until now (passing by all my study time for a test tomorrow) I pretty much only played Makoto. I started off playing her like I did in 3S but was getting wooped. I slowly began to understand her moves more, and I’m fairly happy about her, she’s just a different beast in this incarnation. I still barely understand anything about her, like…after hayate…what kind of position you’re in. Some characters you can just go back into kara, ala 3S, but some you can’t! and all these ex properties…oh and s.mp is a freaking monster…that single move beats E.Honda clean…out of anything.

I’m excited for Super…focuses are a lot faster!..I just wish the game itself was faster.

I think most people need to MASTER one character before moving on to another one instead of having 20 mains. The difference between someone who plays a character and someone who has mastered them is huge. Truly mastering a character takes lots of time.

I’m all for trying out the cast for the first couple weeks, but by then you should know who you want to play and really work on mastering that character before even looking at another.

This is all just my opinion though.

i love maining underused characters,so im gonna try and master Adon and Hakan.(unless Adon gets somewhat popular or something,but even then im still gonna use him)I will play w/ Dudley (no homo) as oppose to mastering him since everyone is gonna use him.

Am I the only person who finds the Arcade stick a little uncomfortable? I seemed out of place when everyone was playing w/ their fight sticks last saturday.

You gotta put in the time and train. If you can get a hold on a stick then switch instantly and never use a 360 pad again you’d be better off.

Do it. I have been learning stick for about 2.5 years now (notice i said “learning”…present progressive) and it’s infinitely better than stick for 2D. You are much faster and can do a lot more high level stuff. Execution is something I have been actively focusing on, and I am still learning things to improve mine.

Jason can, and Eugene know Ibuki and Kris Nelson knows a bit about her as well. Several of us know some of their stuff but can’t really execute it cause we haven’t really messed with her. We’ll help you all we can though.

I realize that Im not very good compared to most of the guys that are active here in the Memphis scene. Unlike my friend champ, I realize that I can get worked by anybody at any time aka Im a scrub when it comes to competitive play. Sure, I house my friends who claim they are super good and once I found out that there was a scene here, I was just sure I would dominate. However, I went into this with a clear understanding that some of these guys can be really good and instead of losing and dropping out the scene like a lot of douchebags do, I told myself I should be productive and learn from the better players here so I can improve my stock as an overall player so if I decide to travel (which I want to one day) I can hold my own from what I’ve learned. Though you can’t learn much from online play, I believe I have leveled up slightly from the short time I have played Lycan and Jan even though Lycan wasn’t really serious and it was online. With all that said, when I get the chance to come to Nashville ( I love that city btw) we should certainly play. As for the champ…

Since you mentioned him, just to let everyone know, he has seen all the comments from the last thread until now. He is salty to say the least. He is now a registered user of SRK and should be commenting any day now. He would have done so awhile ago, however SRK makes you wait awhile before you can comment/post for some reason. That is all Im saying, I will let him speak for himself before Sev has stroke or something.

What?!? Besides the fact once he gets meter you can’t zone him because he can EX Ball right though them!? That kills me everytime. I fail at trying to throw off his charge too especially against ball happy Jan. I try block strings but Im just now learning them so I fail pretty bad at trying to pull them off. Sagat does have the advantage in that match-up but I wouldn’t call it easy cakes.

Don’t be predictable with Tiger Shots and you’ll zone him just fine. You can punish blocked ex balls with ex low tiger shot if you block them standing. Even then, the fact that he needs meter to consistently get through your zoning should say something. Jan doesn’t turtle, so you don’t even have to worry about that if he gets the life lead.

His slide can be focused on reaction, and again, it won’t work well if you space and keep your tiger shots from being predictable. Only thing left is his jumps, and we all know how well jumping against Sagat works out.

Blanka has no consistent answer to Sagat Tiger Knee block strings.

Even if Blanka manages to get in, he has no big damage if he does. He’s either gonna cross you up into a weak combo or throw you. If he keeps trying to cross you up, you jump back fierce that garbage.

So just because YOU have problems with Blanka doesn’t mean Sagat has trouble with Blanka. It’s a 7-3 matchup for Sagat. Like I said, easy cakes.

Ok, so Panera scheduled me for the night of the midnight, so I won’t be running it now, but I’m pretty sure the tourny is still going on. O Lycan, how were you testing this, because Cammy’s J short when it doesn’t cross up can still get her to land on the other side of her opponent, but just hit the front side.

May 5th (NOT THIS WEDS, but Cinco De Mayo). Just a standard FT5 with tournament rules. Standard 2/3 round matches, winner keeps his character, loser chooses, random stages only. Loser takes the title permanently until they win another money match with someone who agrees to take it upon a loss. A no-show means you automatically take the title.
