He isn’t terrible, but there are still some issues that need to be fixed. If you are really going to play him, you’ll see.
And, maybe a known person in the fighting game community as yourself can have a better chance being heard.

hadouken takes forever to charge a 2 hit

tatsu have one of the greatest recoveries of the game, more than many ultras
Of course we would like some buffs but we feel that the tools that we’re given don’t work as they should.

FIXING means the move isn’t working as intended…buffing the fireball to be 2 hits faster is not a fix its a buff…learn the differenc. The only valid point you have in your whole post is that tatsu sometimes drops people out and Kongo not working even if you guess right those 2 things do need to be fixed the rest are just buffs that you want because you are a baby(I have never seen ex palm drop). Come monday I will play the character for the week if hes winning just to shut scrubs like you up so enjoy the show
My solution to this “problem” for my character: Get good, advance technology, try my hardest to play in tournaments even though I essentially have negative money, place well in those tournaments

Teching is not the issue, it’s the fact that none of his reversals can beat grabs, save EX Tatsu (which whiffs on many crouching opponents and has a longer recovery than almost every Ultra on the game). You can avoid with EX Flip, but you don’t get an offensive option until he reaches the Apex of his jump. And his back dash isn’t that great so it’s easy to OS it. And teching leads to being counter hit… so the more you can make him tech the more likely Gouken will be counter hit or forced into doing something risky to get away.
The problem you are going to have to overcome is that Gouken lacks an all purpose move. Aside from EX Tatsu and EX Flip He doesn’t have one move that can avoid both grab and delayed attack/frame trap. So in most situations with other charcters you would be rewarded for opting to do a wake up reversal whether they tried to delayed attack/frame trap or grab, you HAVE to choose the correct option or you get punished for doing the wrong reversal at the right time.
Is it possible to overcome?? SURE. That’s why many of us have mained/used him for so long, he has a lot of shining qualities. But to dismiss it and position his extremely poor wake up like it’s just user error and not an obvious weakness in his character design is foolish.
When he is on his feet and has spacing he is a gamer, but due to what I mentioned he really struggles once his personal space is invaded.
With that being said, I’m looking forward to seeing your Gouken in action.
Technically, tatsu works as intended. It’s been three iterations of the game without a proper “fix” so one can only assume it is supposed to drop people. Most people see it as being broken and needing fixing though. If you give regular tatsu “suction” like EX tatsu, you can anti-air fireball jumpers from full screen if they are late to jump the fireball. Just saying.
What he means by EX palm “dropping” people is that sometimes, on a long distance EX palm, the first hit will land and the second won’t. This really isn’t a problem and other characters deal with shit like this as well. See Akuma and his HP srk. You can see this by EX palming through a Sagat U2 or a Ryu fireball at certain ranges.
As for counter, yeah. It’s kind of retarded to HP counter a jump in and get counter hit. I think their fix to this though was to flip flop the counter boxes in 2012. The LP counter box is probably going to be as small as the HP box is now. I’m just guessing at this though since in AE Ibuki st.lk needs a low counter but in 2012 it requires the MP counter – that point to a flip in the boxes.

There was nothing to take notes about. You can’t take notes on reactions and predicting. He was reading the fireballs and focusing through them to punish with a cr.mp or three light attacks. He slowly chipped Bonchan down this way. Bonchan never started up with tiger knee pressure forcing Gouken into the defensive where his only real option is to know exactly when to c.lk to get under a tiger knee (it’s not mash), use c.mk to trade (timing, again), or EX tatsu on a prayer.
Bonchan never angry scarred so he could AA any demon flip (and he paid for it with the air parried uppercut) and he was using the wrong Ultra on top of it.
The only thing I took away from the two matches between Bonchan and Tokido was that I should never do the same thing twice. Had Infiltration tried to sweep Akuma’s sweep recovery a second time he would never have even won a round vs Tokido, not that I expected him to.
I want to know about all this technology UD was talking about at the beginning of that match
