Television General Discussion

People who haven’t seen it just yet need to prepare for the insanity that was the most recent episode of Walking Dead. I’m still recovering from it…

People keep telling me about this “Almost Human” show so perhaps it is a hit… I’m intrigued to check it out now… I just haven’t watched it already because I’m already hooked on probably too much tv at the moment.

Just marathoner season one of Friday night lights. Loved it. 4 more seasons to go.

i heard that was a good show, but never thought id care. im more into supernatural, xfiles, fringe, weirdo type shit anyways. i think i will check out almost human since it keeps coming up here. i’ll download some eps now

Dammit, I gotta keep up on Nikita. I just can’t miss out on its last season, I need to see how it all ends!

Watch Parenthood too, it’s a genuinely good family show. A nice blend of comedy and drama with some fairly grounded characters.

can anyone compare of nikita to new nikita for me? i loved the original…would i like the new version?

As someone who watched the USA version with Peta Wilson, I can say it’s genuinely good.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s CW-fied from an aesthetic standpoint (which it miraculously makes it work in its favor, unassuming killers and all). However the writing and actual twists are pretty good, and the 20-something number of episodes somehow manage to maintain great pacing.

I’d say keep an open mind to the series, and give it about 4 or 5 episodes to settle into it’s groove. Maggie Q starts great with the action and grows/evolves further into the leading role with each episode, and the character interaction becomes much more organic too. You’ll enjoy it, it’s in some ways darker and more straight-forward/leaner than its predecessor.

Ive got almost human on my to watch list. Atm im watching dracula, supernatural, sleepy hollow, brooklyn 9-9 and the obvious walking dead.

holy shit, man… this episode of The Originals… heh, those chump ass regular humans didn’t know who they were fuckin’ with. They learned the hard way just now. You don’t talk down to both Marcel AND the most powerful vampire in the world and get away with it.

Davina is back on-screen with this episode, looking outstanding as usual.

Todd is the best character in Friday night lights. His delivery is awesome lol.

Vampire Diaries just stepped its game up as of now with this “Augustine Vampire” story going on…especially with the revelations in tonight’s episode… holy shit. It was fairly predictable but still managed to be awesome.
…really satisfying moment in the flashback when Damon finally broke out of the cage back then and… well, things didn’t end well for those people.

*Steffan was locked up in a box again, but with Katherine in there with him, supposedly to help him overcome his flashbacks to drowning… and holyyyyy shitttt she is looking SO GODDAMN HOT RIGHT NOW as they’re about to fuck… anyway, I couldn’t handle being locked in there with the Bulgarian Beauty™ that is Nina Dobrev. I just… I couldn’t handle that at all. In all of 4 seconds I would’ve busted a gallon off.

…and I dive for the remote right away to make my daring escape from “Reign”… the main girl looks nice but I can’t even begin to care about whatever is going on with that show.

*Megyn Kelly has quite the hoarse voice tonight on her show The Kelly File… and it sounds kind of hot…she’s spawning new fetishes across America as the show goes on, I’m sure.

So I caught up on Revolution fully and I just gotta rant…

Spoiler

How do they expect us to root for most of these characters? They’re completely unlikeable. The only redeeming ones being Charlie and Monroe.

Let’s start with Aaron, the guy who abandoned his wife after the blackout. The entire series thus far has been him being a liability to everyone, not because he’s not a great fighter, but because he’s too much of a punk to learn or make himself useful the best he can. He’s constantly complaining and scared of his own shadow. So he gets the ability to control the nanotech and he sends it away? The same nanotech that saved his life countless times? Saved his girlfriend and all his friends? He sends it away? I mean how stupid can you be? Given the writers had to remove the ability since it makes him too powerful, but a better reason could’ve been conjured up other than him freaking out and not using his brain.

Then we have Miles and Rachel.

Miles, who pre-blackout was banging his brother’s wife and quite possibly fathered their first child. The guy we’re supposed to see as this tortured soul, even though he’s one of the founding fathers of the Republic. He’s the hero? Really? No one is perfect, but I see no reason to root for the guy other than the show is telling us to. What disturbs me the most is that the show is slowly trying to introduce excuses for Miles as if they’re realizing how messed up of a character they’ve written. “Hey it’s alright to like him b/c he ended the affair!” With the way this is going, they’ll find some way to reveal that Ben knew all along and somehow gives Miles the thumbs up to continue the relationship - which will send me up the wall.

And Rachel, whose completely psychotic. Again, banging her husband’s brother pre-blackout and even wanted to leave said husband to be with his brother. The woman who abandoned her family. Who allowed Nora to die b/c she was still having a hissy fit over her son being killed. She’s always the thorn in the side of everyone. If the crew has a good plan, count on her to be the difficult one wanting to go another route because of her up and down emotions. We’re supposed to root for this star-crossed couple because…?

Say what you want about Monroe, but he’s consistent. He’s loyal to a fault when it comes to Miles. I’m glad the writers gave him something else to focus that loyalty and love on (his lost son) b/c Miles continues to give him no reason to care. Quite possible he’s starting to crush on Charlie, which will make it even more awkward if it turns out she’s Miles’ daughter instead of Ben’s.

Charlie, while a bit annoying early in S1 has come into her own. She’s a bit battle hardened now and is all the better for it. I was worried at beginning of S2 because she came off as the very stereotypical “awesome chick bounty hunter/tracker out for revenge”, so I’m glad that reeled that in quickly.

And what can I say about Neville? Again, a ruthless guy but like Monroe, he’s consistent in that. When he thought his wife was dead, he was going to do whatever it took to avenge her. I love that she’s just as cunning as he is, it’s actually one of the better dynamics in the show.

So to recap, Revolution’s tweeners (Monroe, Neville, Jason) are not only more interesting, but more heroic than the actual heroes (excluding Charlie).

Aww yea, New Years Day. Really looking forward to this.

Sleepy Hollow…this show has grown on me. Writing has its highs and lows, but its entertaining overall. Next ep is Jan 13th and then the 2 hour finale after that. I hope next season is more than 13 eps.

Almost Human…has been kinda meh. Apparently these past eps are being shown out of proper order, which is weird. Last night’s ep had some cool stuff, but overall it just feels too much like your standard cop procedural.

Did anyone watch Mob City? I fell asleep after 20 min lol.

I got caught-up in watching Sons of Anarchy’s season finale so not really. I mean I saw like two good scenes before I fell asleep, the police chief’s rise to power and Robert Knepper playing a crazy waiter serving up bullets from both of his six shooters.

2 months away!

LOL, I was so satisfied by the ending for Person of Interest episode 9 for some reason I had assumed it was the season finale
That means tonight I get a double billing of PoI

Mob City

Spoiler

Gasoline on fire, indeed.

With how things ‘ended’, I could see a second season picking things up where they left off.
Probably gonna be a long wait though.
Overall, the show was an interesting watch, given the format of 2-hour blocks over the course of three weeks.

Needs more Robert Knepper: The Violinist.

@Shaft_Agent
It appears that Bridget Regan has a bit of a recurring role on this season of White Collar.

I was just coming to ask is Mob City worth watching??

I liked it, though it might not be for everyone.
The initial draw for me was it being a period/era show and Jon Bernthal post-TWD stuffs.
The opening cast listing/credits had some surprises (I thought anyway) which would make one wonder what role a certain actor would play in the show.

The format of the show was interesting: three 2-hour blocks, over the course of three weeks.
Viewing time felt somewhat long on nights the show aired, but things flowed from the 1st hour to the 2nd hour, likely to keep the momentum going with story stuffs.

IIRC, this show was based off of L.A. Noir stuffs, so if you like that sort of genre, it’s worth checking out.

Next Friday’s episode of Nikita will be it’s last!

This show is amazing. It deserves a bigger audience than it got, and I hope it gets that after it’s off-air at the least. I don’t even care if anyone marathons it up until the Series Finale, the more the merrier.

I’m sorry if I sound a little on edge, last night’s was just too damn good. I had to mention it one more time, the villains and power-trips alone are worth it.

TV is such crap nowadays, all those redneck shows on showing the world how backwards and stupid americans can be. They must be targeting people who dont have enough money for internet, there are such better things out on the web than on tv nowadays and cost fractions of their already downsized budgets.
