Tekken Players on the Wii U

Ever since I got ttt2 on the wii u, it has been nothing but frustrating. Players aren’t really that skilled at all and mainly win by shenanigans. I’ve lost a few matches because of things like mashing and having being thrown non-stop throughout a match. I’ve been hit with retarded stuff like Paul’s special move that can take away 50% in a instant( don’t know the name). It feels like scrub tactics from T6 has also reappeared. I’ve only found a handful of amazing players online, but they are generally hard to find.

 Welcome to low level Tekken. It’s like this across all consoles, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

Sounds like you should work on blocking more and maybe picking your spots to move a little better.

yes I am mid level at best and can’t seem to get to that competitive level yet. My movement in tekken isn’t really beyond ordinary. I’m also having trouble with throw teching as well. My blocking is alright except against low attacks…

Teching can be hard simply because of all the different throws. A grab with the left hand is teched by pressing 1. Right hand press 2, and both hands press 1+2 it really does just come with practice but eventually u will be able 2 see what type of grab it is and react accordingly. Ur movement should get better with time and u will get used to the range of the attacks the characters u use have.

Who r u using??

Ranked will be a pool of one-trick ponies.

The main rule to ranked for me is “fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”

Just adapt as much as you can. Soon you’ll be able to stop/parry all that bullshit.

During the fight, the opponent might have a few habits that you can exploit to your advantage. Try to react to them accordingly and mix up your game gradually. Keep your distance because they might resort to some odd shenanigans as well. Catch on to them as quickly as possible. Don’t hesitate to use the training mode to study match ups too. Little fundamentals like this can help in the long run.
Be sure to periodically read through our SRK TTT2 thread discussion here, because we got plenty of information to offer in dealing with offensive and defensive maneuvers.

Asuka/Jun, Asuka/Lili. My other side teams are Kazuya/Nina, Lars/Jin, and Xiaoyu/Alisa.

I just lost to a Jun/Unknown team that basically did block strings into throw. With Jun he did 1+4 and then canceled it into df 1+2 over and over. I’ve now been trying to work on my mix up and mind game with throws and basic Bnbs

If the Jun/Unknown player does attempt a throw you can crouch underneath them or try to tech the said throws on reaction whenever possible (not an easy task first hand but it will come naturally in due time).
Try looking for a few high/low crush moves as well; as they can well in many situations and put you back on the offensive. Patience plays a pivotal role in this scenario - I had issues with dealing with offense as well. Try fighting against others here on the online training mode feature, too - the players here can teach you how to deal with pressure against characters you may have trouble against.

Yeah when i first started playing i was getting hit with this throw a lot as well because I didnt kno how 2 tech it, its a 1+2 break and most scrub Jun/Unknown players will resort 2 this. If ur looking for Asuka stuff check out her thread on here. I may start a lili thread soon also as she is in my secondary team

I play the Wii U version to feel better about myself when I’m tired of the PS3 version handing my ass to me over and over.

Sonic you’re a little late to the thread. If you don’t wanna get your butt handed to you every time, practice. I also see you be avoiding me online

Have we been scheduled for a match?

Anyway, I don’t want to make excuses for my lack of skill other than I am just not practicing the game as much as I did when I was playing Tekken 6. Back then I’d stay up to 3AM playing the game because I was in college and could afford the time.

Now with a job and all I can only spare a few hours a week at most to play (and my local community is SSF4 and MvC3-oriented; they regard Tekken as boring despite their love of MvC3).

Against Unknown:

Abuse the hell of 1+2 break throws - so, when she tries to break them, whiff purposely and watch her becoming unsafe for like, THREE SECONDS.

(and if she doesn’t break the throws at all, that’s even better - yeah, Unknown is horrible - even though she’s cooler than regular Jun)
