They’re milking the arcade scene in Japan/Korea like SEGA does with VF. Except SEGA usually wont port their arcade VF games to console, it took a massive petition to get them to bring VF5 Final Showdown to consoles years ago. The long wait has certainly killed some hype and is unfortunate.
Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution came out in the middle of 2003. Virtua Fighter 5 came out in arcades in the middle of 2006 and hit the PS3 and 360 in February and October of 2007, respectively. They had no plans beyond that until they decided to release the A version of Final Shodown (shit show) in the middle of 2012, roughly a year after the arcade version.
There is no comparison to make between Virtua Fighter and Tekken releases except to say Virtua Fighter’s works have an adamantium skeleton, while Tekken has a lot of extra fat.
Well since you aren’t part of the VF community you didn’t watch videos for years waiting on VF5R which never got a release. Resulting in the VF community launching a massive petition gaining thousands of signatures for R only to have FS get released instead of VF5R. SEGA stated the petition was the reason they released a new VF to consoles “they were moved by it”. SEGA drops VF in arcades first and thinks about consoles or home markets second, if at all. Tekken 7 hit arcades first and is still gobbling up yen coins while the rest of the world waits. Very similar situations where both communities are forced for years to watch streams or replays of Japan/Korea playing an arcade release nobody else has access to.
No, you could play Virtua Fighter 5 on a console a year after its arcade release. There is no Tekken 7 to play two and a half years after its arcade release. Despite buying Final Showdown, I cannot help but feel that I would not have missed a damn thing had I not been part of the petition for R.
actually, people have access to T7. If your someone who’s that deep in the scene and trying to get better your probably attending tourneys. If your attending tourneys then you have access to T7 since it’s typically in US ones. Now, is it 24/7 all day everyday access? now. But, the people who care about it that much are the ones traveling and competing. It’s not like there’s zero presence of Tekken. There is a presence and the people who are in it for nothing but gameplay and competition will be there.
If you wanna make the case that it doesn’t appeal to the casual crowd, just no that the fact it’s available isn’t for aimed towards them. The month or so leading up to launch is what they’ll care about when there’s more info dumps. For people who are into gameplay strictly and have been watching it since it’s vanilla inception it’s mostly a matter of playing it. Which they are able to just not to the extent of someone at an arcade.
theres very specific location tests and psp hacks for the mechanics
really the ones without consistent feasible means to travel you practice tag 2
the fundamentals are the same and the movement in these later builds has been buffed to close to tag 2
why do you think people like JDCR are playing it more frequently now because the sidestepping and movement is less stiff
I dont understand why people are saying that they’ll come back when it comes out
the best thing is to practice on your fundamentals
the tekken and VF situation are not the same
Harada always had plans to release a console version of 7
sega wasn’t planning on vf5 but the arcade scene for t7 has basically become a beta testing ground.
harada wants all the bells and whistles for a console release as he recognizes console players
things dont get patched and system changes dont happen for VF and tekken. you arent gonna see changes for your characters for balance.
This is pretty much what I have been doing. I have switched to stick so I have just been playing TTT2 and practicing movement (kbd mostly) and SS1 cancels with Nina. If u have watched videos of T7 and you have played previous Tekken games you can see how the different juggles and tailspin moves work and you shouldn’t have much trouble adjusting.
In regards to patching you are right Tekken doesn’t really get any patching once the game releases unless there is some really broken shit that must be patched
You could play Vanilla VF5 on console the same way you can play TTT2 or T6 on console. They were old outdated versions while the arcades got new versions of VF (with new game play mechanics) for 5+ years before a console release was eventually seen. While I agree that VF5R/FS were never intended for consoles and T7 was, the fact remains both games have/are going the console route after years of existence in arcades prior to their home console releases. In both cases Japanese players have had access to the games in arcades for several years before a western console release is dropped.
Every version of Virtua Fighter 5 uses 90% of the same assets. While Tekken 7 borrows some Tag 2 character models, it would be nonsensical to argue that it is even close to being like Tekken 7. It would be even harder to argue that Tekken 6 has anything in common with Tekken 7 as they play nothing alike in the slightest.
You are just being obtuse. VF5 Vanilla and VF5 Final Showdown play nothing alike, have different graphics, stages, sound tracks, a completely new combo and physics engine, a completely new THROW ESCAPE SYSTEM. Just completely different and dissimilar game play at every level and completely different character balance. You are entirely caught up with the number on a game and are beyond reason. Play Vanilla then play FS, they are completely different games, despite having 5 in the titles. Just imagine is SF4 Vanilla dropped and then only Japan got Super SF4, AE, AE2012, and Ultra. Most of those got new disc based releases and Vanilla SF4 to Ultra is quite different. Not as different as VF5FS is to VF5 Vanilla, but nonetheless everyone on these forums would have been raging if only Japan got SF revisions and everyone was stuck with Vanilla Sagat SF4 for 6+ years. Tekken 7 offers new game play mechanics like FS did compared to VF5. You clearly know very little to nothing about VF so it’s a pointless argument I get that. You don’t like the comparison, I get that too, but the reality is BOTH games have been available for years in Japanese arcades before they touch console. Both fan bases grew restive watching only replays and streams with no local access to a game they desired. The End.
Lighting system was modifired per stage relative to time of day, many particle effects were removed, and textures were downgraded to meet 2GB limit. Most stages were nearly identical with some fences and half walls added or removed and modified floor sizes and textures. In Pai stage mountain scenery was downgraded to a simple prairie. Eileen’s stage removed water for snow-like sand. Lei Fei’s stage turned into a floating raft with walls. Old and new soundtracks were added to the game as alternatives. Juggle system became more floaty like Tekken but with weight modifier and hit boxes were enlarged to make braindead juggling easier. Input lag and animation lag was added to benefit online. Throw escape system was streamlined to only neutral, forward, and back as opposed to three attempts out of five (some six) potential options. Throws became more limited to conform to those throw escapes. Throws lost their immediate activation after input. Flying downed attacks were made practically useless with stringent requirements and became forbidden at the end of a round. Stun was modified to make opponent crouch and became longer. New state of sideturned was added that increased damage to absurd heights. Sidestep window was shortened while frame advantage and damage after sucessful evade increased, while attacks directly out evade were removed. Speed of preexisting and newly added guard break attacks made blocking more shit. And every preexisting character lost at least 10% of their tools. But to many its all good because two top tier characters and a revised customization system were added, while dismissing that nearly half of the cast turned to shit. Please don’t try to tell me anymore bullshit about Final Showdown, I know all too well what it is. A downgrade for Virtua Fighter.
With regards to the relationship between Tekken 6 and Tekken 7 I misprinted the “play nothing alike” part, what I meant to type was “work very differently”. Assets I speak of can be considered synonymous to gears inside a machine, they can be rearranged while keeping the machine functioning in mostly the same way. If enough new ones are added or old ones are replaced with others or even removed then the machine’s function changes. Final Showdown is more a rearrangement of gears inside Virtua Fighter 5 as opposed to a significant removal of old ones or addition of new ones or replacement of new ones. The same cannot be said about Tekken 7 relative to Tekken Tag 2. Also, modern Street Fighters are irrelevant to me. The End.
So you post a match with no ECDC from a bad players twitter, make an idiotic post and you’re confirmed a scrub, hooray.
I know 0neida and he’s free and not even remotely close to good. He got rekt freely by my local boy in casual & in tourney. He is a nice guy but a shit player. Do not post vids from scrubs in the FS commuity to make a case lmfao. At NMTC he wont even place. Like I said conversation is done.
Listen loli worshiper, it may be a little difficult for you to get but a character having a single hit with practically no risk doing 40+% damage while other characters only have single hits or quick combos that do 25% damage max while giving no advantage and are unsafe with no real utility is absurd. You could argue that juggles even the playing field out, but the reality is some characters can’t break 50% at the best of times, while others do 60+% consistently. The viable options available to characters were shrunk in this release, while making some options amazing and most others useless.
Also, I am not having a conversation with your friend, I am having a conversation with you and unless you can support your opinion with verifiable numbers or recorded examples to reference instead of misdirecting the focus of the conversation, every word you type is a waste. Getting back on topic, two versions of a game are not as similar as two different numbered sequels. Now the conversation is done.
ok so what I did was look up the key word because I havent played virtua fighter in a while noone to play it with but when I played I liked akira
(loved the challenge of buffered/instant doublepalms and 1 frame knee as a filthy casual, looking up fuzzy guard information) and Jean
kaamage vs gentleman thief is still one of my favorite matches in fighting games to watch (check that out you wont be disappointed)
but thats besides the point
one word stood out to me and its what spliffy said
***ECDC ***
so I google and who do I see in the thread with that exact information
Its gotta be you lol
little tid bit of information
he seems to know what he is talking about
now if I recall side hits give frame advantage which is why dude kept elbowing him
but I assume the ECDC wouldve helped in that match right?
I know what evade crouching dash cancel is, its been around since VF3 for fuck’s sake. You think I am talking about his basic elbow check after evade? I am talking about the Tetsuzanko after the successful offensive move that did 40+% damage. One telegraphed linear or misdirected half-circular and the opponent of Akira is FUBARed. Also, I don’t watch games unless I am trying to find relevant footage, otherwise I play them. How scrubby either player is has no bearing on the gameplay design of the game.
