Gah, what you gave me is so damn common, I had to sift through a few people with similar name who had topless women as their AVs. I kept getting distracted.
So uh, mines is BombermanGOLDEN
Easy to find cause SRK avatar and Steam one are the same (and only I own the name)
waitā¦they rolled that back on console too or do you speak about the pc version?
on pc they rolled that back one day after the patch and the new one which came out yesterday
didnt had it included for whatever reason.
i hope they still work on the issues and did not just ditched it.
So, I played in my first tekken tournament in years.
Beat a law player then later an Asuka player who were somewhat new.
Played Way Gambleās Leo and got completely wrecked by spacing. I should have just picked Panda right away but I didnāt pick her until the second round, put up a better fight but still lost.
Went to loserās bracket and lost to a Gigas player with my Hwoarang. Won a game with Panda, then lost the last game. He was new to tekken but was pretty good. I had never played against Gigas before.
Time to hit the lab to get familiar against him.
Seems like Iām a lot more comfortable with Panda than Hwoarang despite only picking Panda up recently.
Yeah itās one of those lows that staggers them on block, where they freeze forever and you can launch it with your most comfortable button.
This goes for pretty much all lows that are this slow and either launch or do good damage.
its -37 on block, which means you can punish it with nearly everything you have.
ws3
ws1+2
forward+3,4
forward+1+2
ect.
the chicken framedata app is a good tool to check these kind of things out.
and it even has a option to filter your moves by its startup to see what you can punish opponents
move with after you checked the on block stats.
Damn.
Leoās Jin Ji Du Li stance is hella cheap.
Not only is the initial knee into the stance +8, no you just got to hold every option she has out of it.
If you try to option select low parry, you get hit by everything else and the launcher and mid are safe.
Iāll stop trying to low parry the low, risk not worth it unless I got a big read.
Nice, was it streamed? Would like to see an archive if available. I was gonna tell you to not use Hwo because he is completely changed and dozens of his old moves and transitions have been taken away but forgot to include it in my post yesterday. You need to play him differently now with new ff4, armour on backlash and nerfed flamingo (especially LFS). Good stuff nonetheless, post any Qs you have in general or about Gigas in the doc.
Anyone else has their tournament videos up? In a mode to watch some Tekken today.
Remember to always crouch cancel by tapping up when punishing such lows with standing launchers, you can also do delayed hopkick if in range.
Ah, I was confused about 124/1214/1211 because I read the post as if all low/mid/high ender were happening at the same attack. By the way, Leo cannot 12 hopkick you, you have enough time to twitch low parry the (12)4 and stand up if she stops the string, hopkick will come out way too late and wonāt hit you unless you keep ducking unnecessarily. 12>4 however might catch you once in a while.
I donāt believe there is a definite answer to KNK mixup now, in tag2 you could SSL~duck option select to make KNK 3(4) whiff, duck under KNK 2 and launch KNK 4. Itās no longer possible due to sidestep and sidestep cancel changes, low is also safer now and thatās why Leo is regarded as SS tier sometimes in Japan. You can still SSL the knee in b14 if someone is doing it over and over again to force the KNK mixup afterwards. Post in the doc in my sig if you have any other strings, situations or set up in mind.
Donāt forget that RA do more damage if your health is lower, just like in Phinx video. Many RAs will do 35%-45% or so if your health is near under 10% which does happen after absorbing CH damage.
I think I didnāt explain myself correctly, I am NOT saying RDs are bad moves. They are, in fact, so good that you only get to do them once per round but they still do not interfere the flow and core of the game (except maybe one or two exceptions), but most RAs (again, a couple of exceptions like Hwoās or high RAs) do. RDs are pretty much like EX moves while RAs are ultras with armour. Let me change the RD (because it also involves Kaz turning into DK, which is an exception and is hard to measure):
> Heihachi is in rage, he now has mid RD (+ on block, does 60+ damage). Does that change how I approach Heihachi? No, he can do that much damage with mids like ff2 (canāt punish with my character), ff3 (safe mid launcher), OTGF (safe high crush launcher), uf34 ( + on block low crush launcher) without even giving up rage if I was ducking. If I stand block, he gets a few frames to do something like df1 or db2/db3/d4 mixup which has can do with uf34 anyway. And Iāll take that mixup if it means giving up his bonus rage damage and potential threat of RA.
> Asuka/Bryan/Drag/King/Yoshi/Lili/Kazumi etc. now have a mid, + on block launcher. Again, it doesnāt change how I would approach them. They all have safe mid launchers to stop me from ducking. Thatās why you usually see them used as combo enders into guaranteed ground attack at high level.
> Paul/Leo/Feng etc. get to make their unsafe mid safe, great, just feel free to do it at neutral and get rid of bonus rage damage and threat of RA. Again, good in combos or rewall-splats.
> DJ/Jack/Law/Ling now have EX versions of their lows, the only thing I will start doing is low parrying instead of low blocking I guess.
> Hwo/Shaheen Their RDs are just plain bad unless it gives enough damage to kill or very specific situations. Lars is the same I guess, but at least useful in combos.
> Gigas has now an interesting option, but again itās not scary unless wall is at your back. Mid does 25 dmg in open and you only get to do it once per round. There are still ways around it and Gigas has to guess right after a successful RD to do any damage.
Again, these are crazy good moves with some exceptions, they just donāt change the way game is played.
Now for RA, I would completely change everything JUST to bait an RA if I am expecting one. That is the fundamental difference between them and RDs. They also make some decision making or actual defense rather simple. See any character going into stance that cannot be cancelled or attacking from a stance, do RA and it will win every time. See any character going BT after a move at negative frames, do RA. In a canned string mixup, do RA. See a delayed string, do RA. Someone setting up a whiff punish bait, just RA. In a heavy mixup situation at wall, RA. In an unavoidible oki situation, RA will do the trick. There are probably many more situations I canāt think of right now.
I get their purpose and know why they are in the game. I am not complaining or saying they are hard to get around or people are randomly losing because of them or they are broken or something, I am just saying they change the flow of game. Maybe not at super high level (?), but things rarely change there. I just dislike how it makes game less interesting overall and basically a life/death gamble with bait/no bait at end of round. But again, I never liked the introduction of rage in Tekken anyway.
It didnāt matter what Eliza did there except block (unless she has a fast move with 30+ dmg from FC), JDCR wouldāve won that round. If there wasnāt RA, he would have different options to beat Elizaās different options. There is no interesting way to stop RA except⦠block I guess. Thatās why I still like Power Crush, while they do negate frame advantage in some situations, there are way more options available to both players to keep things interesting. It also helps that my character has best PCs in the game. =)
BTW, if anyone is playing on PS4 in Europe, letās play some Tekken. :woot:
I just learned from a friend that you can do 1 button Rage Arts (R1/RB by default) and it works online. I donāt use or need it but itās just something to note.
Bilal: It was streamed actually and I re-watched it because it was streaming live and I watched the archived clip of my matchā¦but I canāt find the channel againā¦
Iāll private message you if you want.
Itās a pretty bad beatdown though and looks as though I donāt even know how to playā¦which is not true lol. All I remember was him Korean backdashing and I knew I shouldnāt swing or attack first, but it still happened.
It was like playing street fighter footsies and getting completely spaced outā¦usually I die to frame traps and mixups, in this case, I was whiffing or getting interrupted on the way in (think 2D footsies) with hwoarang. With Panda, he was getting in on my space pretty easily and I found out doing sidewalk right is a pretty decent option against Panda.
first two matches that I won were nothing to brag aboutā¦would rather focus on areas that need improvement.
The problem with this game is thereās too many characters I want to playā¦I have a decent ling that could be a better pick.
Dash up block, dash up delayed attack is the best advanced tech.
edit: still happy though, Iām not really a tournament player, 17th out of 69 players is not bad, almost made it to top 16ā¦
second edit:
The gigas player I lost to in person is the same as the guy playing Aris in the second half of this vid.
