Claudio is not very rewarding in training mode. You manage to pull off a fancy 5 hits combo ender off a STB launcher juggle, then replace the entire string with Burn Knuckle and it does more damage on top of giving you wall carry and potential wall breaks…
So far Starburst seems useless mid combo and only two moves are good combo starters (f+1+2,1+2 and d+2,2). I think d+1,2 is supposed to be a frame trap but it pushes the opponent so far back you can only follow up with Burn Knuckle. b+4,3,2 is safe-ish and launches but they really have to not respect you at all to eat that. Idk, I think they could’ve made STB a little more rewarding.
I dont know claudio but sometimes people like to whiff normals after blocking a +on block with pushback
test the move with their back in the corner and the pushback might be less and keep you in range
like ewgf
Aris said it’s not important because the game does have a pretty good balance. Especially not important if you don’t go to tournaments.
But it doesn’t hurt to have one or two secondary characters imo, this way you know 2 or 3 characters very well which can help you beating these characters. Or maybe you just need a break from your main.
Is Lars’ 3+2 grab after DE good? I just stumbled upon it and can’t find its name in the movelist to look it up. I know how to get it to combo, but don’t know if it’s worth it vs his other followups.
So I’m trying to decide whether to convert to tekken or not. I’m looking at dishing out 85$ for it because, well, canada.
I’ve never tekken games but i’ve kind of always wanted to learn to play tekken. I can’t really get into SFV, nor GG for that matter(GG almost solely because the community is small and its way too complicated to treat casually).
How easy is it to transition from SF to tekken if you want to play the game beyond casual level but also not quite hardcore? I guess for a frame of reference, I was OK just playing SFV at basic platinum level, and I’m looking for another FG that I can play at that level. I just don’t have that much time to invest into FG’s anymore but I’m thirsty for something new I can delve into fast.
in my opinion…when you have no time than its not the right game for you.
you need to learn a lot of things and its a complete different gameplay mechanic than sfV…so delve fast into into it to become good when you reached just plat in sfV…eh…
but you dont need to buy the deluxe edition.
go for the base game and try it out. i assume you will buy it on a console, when you dont like it resell it…
That grab has 2 versions both with the exact same animation. DE 2+3 and f,f,f+2+4 (or iSW)
DE 2+3 - Typically it isn’t good because it’s telegraphed out of DE, thus easier to react against. There are situations where it can be useful, such as, in the wall combo in the vid, from a distance if the opp is high enough, W! DE 2+3 W! f+1+4 works (not sure why he didn’t follow up with the shoulder barge, but you definitely can).
f,f,f+2+4 - This is best as it isn’t telegraphed, and if your execution is good, you can perform the grab from really close distances, making it harder to react to. iSW stands for instant Shining Wizard btw. Named after King’s running throw, the “instant” obviously means performing the inputs instantly, but it is quite difficult to execute as it is 3 forward commands + the throw input in a very short space of time, and requires a specific timing. Any throw with this input is usually abbreviated as iSW.
Yeah I’m still getting better with my wall combos. I normally just go for f+4,1,2,1 because It’s easier, but it looked like there wasn’t enough time for it. And I’ll practice the iSW. I’m running through training mode to get up my punish reactions, so I’ll toss that one in.
Another problem I’m having is getting away from buttons/deciding when to duck. I know that has a lot to do with KBD training to get out, but what about ducking? It seems really unsafe to me. I mean, the chance of getting hit with a mid scares the shit out of me.
okay, thx for the clarification.
i wasnt sure if each character has a individual ranking system.
so its like the bp system in sfV just that there is no lp system in ranked.
good to know, so when i pick a new char it should match me with newcomers/lowe ranked people right? no matter how far i ranked up with my main.
