Epic rant is epic. Kinda random, though. BUT, there’s a point there, as people in this particular community detest change of any sort.
Although I’m a 2-d guy I like tekken, but isnt it a little bit soon?
No.
T6 vanilla was released in 2007 and BR was released in 2008.
Long due for another one. I’ll be surprised if it isn’t released next year.
Personally I’d rather see another Tekken Tag game.
-Keep all the characters only add a few new ones (one or two).
-Update the animation. There is no reason why the animation cant be as good as Soul Calibur or VF5’s now.
-Increase the gravity in the game.
-Do something about Bound. I’m not a very good Tekken player but I reckon Bound should be an option and not a necessity. Maybe doing something like keep all the bound moves as they are (or add/remove accordingly), but make the rest of a combo damage scale by 50% once a Bound is used. That way most player would only use it to take someone to a wall. If they don’t use a bound they’ll be able to get a better damage combo but not a wall carry.
-Attempt to go back to the Tekken Tag style soundtrack.
-Make Unknown her own character (Grimdark version of Jun/Asuka)
I can’t believe you’re saying this in a TEKKEN thread.
Tekken 6 has animations in it that were from Tekken 1.
Each Tekken game uses like 90 percent of the movelists and animations from the previous game.
And, when they do introduce new moves, a lot of times the moves are useless filler.
Lol @ Kazuya’s stupid @$$ back throw which remains unchanged since T2.
Lol @ the ugly muppet-style knockdown animation that remains unchanged since T1.
Capcom isn’t the only fighting game company known to reuse assets from game to game. Namco is just as guilty.
Since I play games on console it feels a little early… but I’m down for another Tekken. I haven’t really gotten too far into Tekken cause of SSFIV.
You don’t actually play tekken do you? I mean, I know everyone thinks they play xxx game, so before you fill me in about how you’ve been playing it since you were able mash buttons on your ps1, just know, my question was rhetorical.
You’re an idiot.
I’m playing it right now. Unlike many people here, I actually like testing out the things I say on this message board.
And, I don’t really care if your question was rhetorical. That’s silly on a public message board.
/facepalm
Cuz that shit works. There’s no need to completely overhaul the animations. Keep what works, and that’s what they did. But they also add NEW moves, indicating that the characters are training and learning new skills and gaining new abilities…unlike Street Fighter, where the characters train all the damn time but don’t learn shit.
Based on that comment about new moves being useless…you may PLAY Tekken, but you don’t really know HOW, do you? It’s just you and a group of friends getting high together, then spamming the rk button, isn’t it?
Namco doesn’t reuse shit as blatantly. They keep what works, and ADD shit for EACH character as well…unlike Capcom, who just prefers to change the overall engine a little bit,add a couple characters and leave the old characters as they’ve been for nearly 10 years. SF sequels (not counting each game in the 3 series, since Capcom considers them failures, i.e. they weren’t as profitable as giving fans the same old shit over and over) have relatively little change compared to even UPDATES like Guilty Gear XX and Blazblue CS. If Virtual Fighter changed and updated characters as little as Capcom did, that series would’ve died at 4. Same outfits and moves, all that changes were the stages, graphics, a slight engine change here or there, and a couple new characters here and there…that shit would’ve doomed ANY other fighting game series. I don’t even LIKE VF, but I do recognize that they make noticeable changes to each character every outing.
And don’t even get me started on the new 3d graphics engine for sf4: It’s easy as FUCK to create multiple outfits per each character, but Capcom’s acting like it’s so hard that they have to charge for the other outfits (but considering how the hardcore demographic don’t really like change, I can understand how they say the outfits are optional…but some people like a little variety) and anything other than the old 20-year old outfits cost money? Wtf? I could see if the game were hand-drawn, yeah: the effort would justify the price. The problem is it’s a game with 3d graphics, and every other fighter using 3d has been tossing TONS of outfits our way for FREE, because it’s easy! But capcom is going by the mindset of it’s fanboys (who fall for everything they foist upon them with upraised wallets), and thinks it can hold people who know better to that way of thinking. That line of thinking is what got nintendo and sega pissed at them back in the day, back when they’d release a barely changed game and want 60 bucks for it, with the only new stuff being a dumb “Tournament Elimination Mode”. That’s why we didn’t get ssf2t on home systems until the 32-bit era.
Call me crazy, but man Tekken 4 gameplay LOOKS sound. It’s just that I heard it was unbalanced as hell. I am not really feeling the juggle physics they’ve gone with the latest version.
Uh…4 has wall infinites. The bound and revised wall systems in 6br don’t allow such things anymore, as far as I know. I could be wrong, I’ve just never seen any video, and the only talk of infinites I’ve hear are from scrubs on gamefaqs who claim Dragunov, the Williams sisters, and the Kings have endless, untechable throwstring loops.
ZeonUnborn is correct: Tekken and KOF are the most played fighting games in the world.
I know right? When is Ryu gonna learn dat SPD?
Hell, when is he gonna get that Joudan back? Change him enough to make him interesting…then take it away. Gee, thanks :bluu:
According to rumors coming out of Konami it isn’t 7ekken but Tekken Tag Tournament 2 or well at least that Teken7 is going to be Tag style not 100% sure yet.
This is the one thing I liked most about the older Tekken games. The fact that it wasn’t so brain-dead easy to do 50%+ damage combos off of one launcher, like T5 and onwards.
Well let’s just hope it’s better than Tekken 6…
TTT devil kaz: d/f+12 4
Now that needed skill!
