TEKKEN 6 Bloodline Rebellion Thread - PS3/XBOX 360 Oct. 27, PSP Nov. 3

Miguel’s pretty good even without juggles. How often does Rain launch his opponents? He usually bulldogs them to oblivion.

justin wong’s cyclops come back is a good example.

You are right, unless you count Gene Slicer into Super as a juggle.

Can’t wait for this. I’ve never played Tekken once in my whole life so this is going to be a journey.

What is all this? It’s possible to win with safe moves, natural combos, pokes, and mix-ups, etc., (if you’re smart about it, have knowledge of the game, good defense to even consider harassing your opponent w/o going for big damage), but if you get a launcher and choose not to juggle then you deserve to lose.

Winning in high level play almost requires getting guaranteed damage on every opportunity because no one is going to let you linger around doing all your favorite shit, and the “coolest” moves. Be for real. Who would think of playing a game competitively and not capitalize on any appropriate follow-ups or variations thereof? That’s stupid.

Also, juggle damage has been scaled, in the sense that a staple BR combo(with B!) does about the same as a staple DR combo. Meaning that you go playing 6/BR doing some petty shit from DR, it’s more than likely going to do less damage than it did in DR. B!‘s are a natural part of the series’ system now. So it wouldn’t be right to just assume that you had a 65 dmg combo in DR and that you’re going to get 65 dmg + post B! dmg in BR. Doesn’t work that way. 6.0 had some crazy shit in it though.

You have the OST too? DAMN YOU!!! T_T

Another dope post.

I’m not saying that I can’t stand people who juggle. I just mean, looking at videos of high level play, they are pacing back and forth, tap 1, tap 12, tap 4, tap 12, LAUNCHERMASHEVERYTHINGLOLOLOLOL. I’m not saying I can do it. I just see that poking around until you get that magical launcher is what seems to be on everyone’s mind.

And WALL COMBOS. I remember when Tekken had infinite tiling stages. You could run FOREVER.

Finally found a good quality of Mystical Forest. My life is near complete.

Is that some sort of problem?

it really depends on how you play it. yeah, poke poke poke, whiff poke -> launch is a solid way to play it. the poking game creates offense, which forces people to make mistakes, just like in any other fighting game. and when they make that mistake, you punish them as hard as you can.

you really are making it seem like a bad thing. you play small until you see a mistake and then capitalize.

but there are a ton of ways you can play it. you can just go for big 50/50 power moves and find success. you can stay strictly poke game, and i get a large portion of my wins just using pokes and basic mixups and 0 launches, simply because in alot of fights, people won’t make those mistakes that give you launches. you can win via throw game, oki… theres a ton of ways to win any given game, its sad that people still see it for a combo fest.

combo damage is fairly scaled, and most combos end up in the 40% range unless you get a wall, and that can send it anywhere to 50-55%. but 5-7 pokes or 2-3 power moves/mixups can easily get you 40% like nothing. the ground game is strong, and shouldn’t be over looked. but whenever given the chance, doing 40-45% in one attack is obviously more advantageous than having to do 3 mixups, and thats why juggles appear to have so much priority to top-tier play…

but damage is damage. i can ask if ryu can hang at top tier without fireballs. or without an srk. or without fdac-> ultra. sure, you can win at top level without any of them depending on your skill, but why would you want to play without them? i mean, you question seems to imply that whenever given the chance, you’ll just straight up refuse to get a juggle and do damage…

and i’m sure you meant, “is this game a jugglefest?”

the game is what you make it, and any and all play styles can win. in the end, its all about doing damage, no matter how you go about it.

Man I’m just going to be honest with you. Anyone that doesn’t really have a clue of how Tekken is played at a high level, isn’t gonna to make much of watching matches besides what you’re seeing. They don’t know the amount of spacing, defending, punishing, countering, KNOWING, that is involved in the minds of the players. It’s definitely way more involved than the usually percieved “dancing around, fishing for a launcher”. Hell, the launcher is your REWARD. At it’s competitive level, Tekken is not an easy mode game. Only so much can be done on reaction. The rest has to be learned, studied, stored. All those little pokes you see, or any move for that matter, is either the well-made, or poorly decided, decision of the player at that particular moment or situation. Frames are a big part of it, but even most people who don’t know numbers know what punishes, crushes, trades, beats what. It matters. More know-how, strategy, mental involved. Less random. In fact, random hardly ever wins.

Again, this is best as I can put it. People are still going to perceive what they want. But until one truly understands and gets into the intricate facets of the game, they will never truly know how much strategy is involved. That’s why it’s a good thing that the game can be played on many levels. And among these levels the gameplay, and what “wins”, varies. But at it’s highest level, it’s definitely not pokey->magical launcher, despite what it looks like.

P.S. A good experience, or intervention as I’d like to call it, would be to try to play a “good” Tekken player. One who truly understands how the game is played. Bring to the match your perceptions, and what you think winning is based on. Ok, now see how long you last. Even when you lose, badly, you still win. Because you will undoubtedly become interested in what makes this player so “godly” that he is able to crush you without much effort despite you knowing all your moves, combos, etc. And it is simply because he is just one of the players of the game. Who went beyond the surface. Who properly learned the game. It makes a huge bit of difference actually.

I play against emphy. All I can ever get is a round :frowning:

I like this post. As I’ve said, I’d happily capitalize on a juggle, when they happen. I just don’t want that to be the only thing I play the game for. I like seeing/using varied approaches to things.

Watching shit, I was like, Damn. Kids going crazy with the juggles. What happened to ground combos? But as was explained, this isn’t ALL there is, just the most profitable way to play the game without turning a match into a trench war.

Also, yeah I could have worded it a little different, but the way the responses came, I would have gotten the same shit, either way.

I think I’m getting T6, just later than everyone else. Hopefully the netcode is dope.

I doubt that.

The phrases “juggling like a clown” and “LAUNCHERMASHEVERYTHINGLOLOLOLOL”, has a very negative tone toward juggles and the game as well. You can’t really blame people for getting defensive when these kind of things are said. Especially, since that sort of question has been asked quite a bit during this thread, and has been aswered with a lot less snark, due to less confrontational wording.

But anyway, I hope you do enjoy Tekken 6 if/when you pick it up- hell, I hope I will too, for that matter.

Only the juggling like a clown statement is what I was referring to. I figured it wouldn’t offend anyone since… you know… clowns do kinda make a it a point to juggle and all. You know… it’s kinda all they have going for them… that and… you know… the noses.

BUT! I apologize for offending people. Anyone. Doesn’t matter who. I apologize.

Finally saw it yesterday. Special “Heh!” soundbite while he kicks you like a piece of trash lol. Damn Miguel…

Yes…That shit is sexy :3 Im so glad I decided to be all stereotypical and picked miguel. Jacks back throw is sexy too, And it did more than half your life in 6 without rage.

If you can get Jack around to somebody’s back, even Jesus would grant you half life.

Lets hope this week goes by with the quickness

Hell he has the game.:crybaby:

I wonder if there is a music player in the game?
