Look… this game is a masterpiece. I’m talking mainly about gameplay of course, but the graphics are simply unbelievable (in high def of course). I really don’t know what settings other people are using, but running this on my hdtv with hdmi cables is a sight to behold. I think a lot of criticism CAN be leveled at the online mode, and even the (very) lame scenario campaign. But please, let’s not lose sight that the game itself is extremely good in the end. And once again, the graphics are really beyond reproach. VERY VERY close to arcade perfect imo, unless my vision is that bad, which I don’t think it is.
I’ve been waiting for this game for some time, and I’m not disappointed. I was afraid the new bound, and rage systems would make it too unthinking or easy, but it’s been really fun so far. I’m impressed with how Namco added such a fresh feel to all the old characters, and I’m near tears that they finally gave Ling usable new moves (I not longer feel like I absolutely have to out think my opponents with her anymore).
+1
3 hours a day for me minimum. WITHOUT online.
I love the game. Love that customization, adds alot of replay value, and ghost feature is pretty cool to. Iv’e never played tekken either, and I gotta say the game’s gameplay, is really something. It’s like played on the pace of sf2, but with a technical side of… idk something. Only thing is, you can’t select who’s ghost yur fighting, or if you can i dont know how. Also you can’t choose who you wanna vs in versus mode, and that gets on my ass. also let’s not forget the netcode people >=O
I’ll forget the netcode when that patch is here to fix it.
try ghost battle… it lets you choose from a selection of 3 characters to face next… and the com isn’t too bad in ghost battle mode either… not on the level of human comp… but good
I’ve just tried Ghost Battle (I was going for the achievement) and I realized that it’s basically Tekken 5’s Arcade Mode. It’s a good way to get your rank up to 1st Dan before you start trying to go any higher in ranked.
This game is my fucking new crack. I haven’t really enjoyed tekken like this since TTT, and I don’t think I’m gonna stop playing this anytime soon. I just need some offline comp.
As a long-time Tekken fan I really enjoyed this installment, the gameplay is top notch. One of the few things that I found lacking was the story mode for each character, with the narration and epic music that plays during the epilogue. In Tekken 6 it’s just one small epilogue of 10 seconds and 5 opponents with no scenes whatsoever.
I just wished they would have made the sc an extra mode, instead of it’s “main” mode. It simply feels like a chore getting all of the characters and play the arena with the characters you have unlocked. The sc gameplay was very repetitive and just not as good as the story mode you see in the previous Tekken installments.
And finally, the lag is unbearable. All my juggles miss and it’s very hard to perform an ewgf. Thank God Namco is making a patch. There are a few more flaws in this game, but as a fighting game fan, for me the plusses outweigh the minusses.
PS: Hope you guys don’t mind the “wall” of text.
I’ve been waiting for this for 2 years. Worth it.
After dicking around with DoA4 last night I have to say that Tekken’s graphics are not that good.
And yes I am on an HDTV (720p) and the effects in this game are mad cheesy/lame. The rain looks bad (you see those drops on the ground?), the water looks like goop (go look at DoA4’s water or Half-Life 2’s), etc. The character models do look great though. But I’m not as easily wowed by graphics anymore anyway. It’s about the gameplay and yeah I really am enjoying Tekken 6.
Brings me back to when I was obsessed with Tekken 3. Oh and SC mode is not that bad. Just make sure you play with the controller and (d-pad for a single target and analog stick to run around freely) and don’t take it so seriously. I’d rather go through this to make money and pick up items since it’s being done at a more consistent rate than going through modes like ghost battle. Plus it’ll be dumb fun to play with a friend online when they fix that.
And I’ve heard complaints about the arena battle but who really wants to spend that much time going through everyone to get their endings. I think the 3-5 matches keep things quick. On more than one occasion I’ve knocked out a character ending before heading to work. Sit down for 5 mins and I’m done.
The gameplay’s great. The customization will be awesome when they allow offline 2p to use customs also. The netcode will hopefully get fixed.
But honestly, the graphics are good, but I feel like VF5 is better looking and it came out two or more years ago.
^Keep in mind, Tekken 6 is also a few years old lol.
This is my first Tekken and makes me wonder why I’ve ignored the series for years.
No more SFIV for me.
It’s about time. All people wanna do is complain about the netcode and not worry about the fact that the game is better than SFIV. Really love the all the chaos going on in the backgrounds that makes the stages feel lively. Music fits and is some of the more interesting music of the series. Finally get to play a game that isn’t so reliant on invincibility frames and overly easy to implement defensive options.
