i’ve been doing that and still only 3rd dan… what happens if i lose? is there a certain way i have to beat them? i can’t evne lose one round or something?
Try not to lose, period. I was stuck on Sage with Steve for the longest because I kept winning then losing, winning then losing. Then I lost 3 in a row and I got demoted. That was a blast to my ego. Hard. 
Then I kept getting winning streaks, so I’m all good now at Tekken Lord.
Strange thing, by the way. I was ranking with Law and lost the game, but I ranked up anyway…Kinda weird.

quick question:
to unlock the extra characters, can i finish story mode on the easiest difficulty, or does it have be on the default mode (medium)? and do i have to finish the game with different characters each time?
Yeah, you can finish Story Mode on Easy, one round, 30 seconds, if you want. And yeah, you have to finish with different characters each time.

yeah i saw it happen to me. i had kazuya and i was playing lee. lee beat me like 8 in a row. the first 2 it wasn’t evne a promotion match. then they made it into a promotion and i still couldn’t win. finally i lost and they still promoted my kazuya to 1st dan lmao.
before 1st dan you get promotions whether you win or lose
It is Warlord, Conqueror, Diety, then Tekken Lord. In the arcade it sucks since you can only rank up against someone close to your rank after Dan Level. You can play and win all day against people with no cards but lose 2 or 3 times right after you rank up and you can lose it. I have been demoted twice now but was playing poorly that day. My friend beat me to demote me to 3rd Dan and he gets promoted next game to 5th Dan. Anyhow I liked the Hori stick so much that I bought two bundles. I then took out the T5 games and traded them in at Walmart for Store credit and got a mini disc player. I already had a copy of Tekken 5 as it took almost a week after the regular version came out for the Le bundle to get to a local gamestop. I went to Gamecrazy and bought a brand new, never been touched bundle which I plan to keep as they will be rare someday. If anyone is interested EB will ship the SF 15th Anniversary stick to your store for free. It costs 60 bucks but that is a steal considering you can sell it on ebay for 75 bucks plus shipping. I might get that as well, but still play with my MAS.

22 characters x 9 rounds = 198 matches, you need 200 matches in Story OR Arcade mode to unlock D.J.
