The aspect you are missing is the card system which is making money… people buy the card and they make money there, then people keep on playing (and buying more cards for different characters or to replace cards that are out of plays) to customize their characters. It’s addicting and people keep on playing and putting quarters in the machine. Releasing it on console at this point would stop that money flow at the arcade since everyone would just play at home or have console battles.
The arcades understand this and it would really hurt the (already hurting) scene if Namco went ahead and released it on console. Sure, the arcades could sell the machines… but who would buy them if everyone is playing at home?
One game won’t cause Namco to go bankrupt, but still, they are a business and want to make as much profit as they can.
Arcades simply aren’t as popular now as they were before. It’s completely off the subject, but it’s not “cool” to go to an arcade nowadays. I believe the culture in Japan and Asia as a whole is a little more accepting of arcades; somebody please correct me if I’m wrong. Also, in Japan, playing the best players in the country is about as easy as hopping on a train and visiting the arcade the best players frequent. With the US, you have to travel coast to coast, more or less, just to fight the best players. There are a lot of things contributing to the decline of arcades in the US but it’s really off topic and I’m going to stop here because I don’t want to derail this thread any.
Back on topic, I finally picked up my card today and got a few wins against scrubs so far on my Jin card. Still 100% win ratio! Hahaha… Oh, and his new d+2 move when the opponent is grounded is fucking cool looking. Too bad the range is fucking pathetic on it.
As long as DR gets a proper console release someday, I’ll be happy. I understand that Namco needs to milk the arcade version first, so I don’t mind the wait too much. I just hope it’s not too much to ask for online play when we do get it. 'Till then, looks like I’m stuck with 5.0/5.1, since none of the arcades I’m near at home and on campus seem to be getting DR.

man, the CTF tourney seemed so random this weekend in terms of overall placement. a lot of established players in 5/5.1 in the major metro area just seemed to straight up lose to people that were mediocre in the previous games. Either way, I heard a lot of complaints about how “this game is random” and how “theyre going to take a break from playing DR” from certain top players here, lol. Changing of the guard, perhaps? All I know egos were crushed this weekend, and people were pissed the fuck off. Kaneda, you shoulda been there just to witness it…lol.
I don’t know if this game is just crappy/random or hella balanced. Either way, I shouldn’t worry about it too much cause I’m not in a position to be placing or worrying abotu that anyway. 
Altho im a noob when it comes to tekken, I find that really funny…Make the game a lil more balanced and it sucks…lol.

haha, that is exactly how I felt when the first came out, when a previous mediocre head who i owned in 5.0/5.1 threw me to death with a.king. I posted about this in the first DR thread. However, as things come around, DR is like the perfect tekken. Hopefully nothing broken gets found along the way.
Lol, that’s funny, you have people saying that things aren’t balanced enough, and when it is, it’s going to get ripped on for being considered balanced. I find that facinating, and makes the term “You can never please some people.” evermore truthful. However isn’t this what we wanted, a random winning for the top, with this tournie it just goes to show that many of the characters in the roster might just probably have a chance. Also, everyone says Julia sucks, yet she took #1:rofl: , that’s great, DR ftw.
I don’t know, I think people were just upset because they lost, it’s understandable. Of course youre going to say random shit and complain about the game if youre on top and you just lose to someone who you feel is worse than you, then youll say some stupid shit like “this game sucks” “or he’s a scrub,” it happens when you become elite I guess, I’ve done that myself on more than one occasion (but not in Tekken.)
Maybe the new engine gives the players who play lower tier characters a chance to shine if they are truly proficient at the game but get owned beacuse of tiers, (like Blood Red’s Lei,) or it gives scrubs a chance to do better, I don’t know. I’m not really that good at Tekken, adn when I was playing 5/5.1 my win ratio was horrible at best, must have been 20%~ or lower, I must have won 1/5 or 1/7 games at best and I didn’t really go on streaks. Now that DR is out, I’ve managed to up my win ratio in casual to around 50% or higher, but I’m not really doing anything too different in this game as opposed to 5/5.1 (i play Jack BTW, I know he got better in terms of tier ranking, but i still lack a lot of fundamentals.) I notice that a lot of the “scrubs” are getting better win ratios too. I dunno, only time will tell I guess, it’s still too early

so you see it’s like the top people are still placing high (arario and tim have always placed high and filthy and venom gets 3rd or 4th, but 13 different characters used in the top 6. It’s a pretty balanced tekken so far imo.
So, how are King, Yoshi and Jin in this game so far?
