Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Part 2!

Geesh game. You are like non stop. I played a former unamed EC player recently and he said that you guys are not good. Just a bunch of click-sh haters. You have no right to say something like that. So stop talkin so much shit and start playing. That’s what they do around here… play the game. Or just keep doing what you’re doing and keep talkin trash online… I guess I don’t care because you guys suck anyway.

That is the first thing I noticed when I watched him play. Lots of moving in point blank and ducking. That is what some players do a lot but not to the same avail. Anyway I was pretty impressed with shou.

Japanese players seem strong to me. I have never played a good jap player, I would say they only have 1 fault in general. It’s that they do not punish moves correctly, or sometimes not at all. Of course you’re not gonna want to try to jab punish everything, that’ll get you owned, but there are times when I have watched vids online and they have a clear chance to punish and they just back off. Makes me wonder if they think it’s like disrespectful or something. A recent example I can think of is at the socal tourney Yuu blocked plenty of deathfists with feng and would not b+1+2 which suprised me. Unless I am missing something here, then by all means someone let me know what’s up.

in dr fengs shoulder misses after a blocked deathfist in certain situations. and yuu explained to me that he did not want to take the chance of gettin his shoulder whiffing or even blocked. therefore he didnt punish with shoulder. thats why he didnt punish the deathfist with a shoulder everytime.

bronson

It is a word, just not widely accepted, because it’s so ugly and seemingly self-contradicting. I feel stupid just writing it, so I won’t.

OK thanks, geesh I was wondering what he was thinking. I’ve seen him go through the same thing in 5.0 matches against different characters and just wondered why.

Yeah, slightly less spammable shoulder = less spamming of the shoulder. =p

Seems the same to me. Super unsafe and same speed. The thing is he kept attempting long range throw and d/b+3 instead. Just trying to get some insight. I’ve tried the same thing when I am playing characters I haven’t played too much in tournies. He seemed to be catching to sidesteps, I think the move is d/f+3 (with feng). That move kills me too.

Yeah, because of how slow it actually starts and the fact that it tracks disturbingly well, a lot more Feng’s are tossing this shit out now than back in 5.0/5.1.

And as for shoulder punishing deathfists, it goes back again to how far the deathfist is done from, I’ve seen several times mid- to tip of the knuckle-range deathfists go unpunished thanks to the iffy pushback on it. I don’t blame him for going for guaranteed damage with safe mixup options after(db+3), since that’s how 80% of all japanese tekken players play.

Shoulder was 13 frames and is still 13 frames in DR, I don’t see why you are saying that it’s slow. It has the same properties as 5.0. And yes I can see now why he would punish with d/b+3 but not long range throw. I’ve tried the same thing during tourney matches myself, like trying to punish Hei’s ff+2 with LRT… does NOT work. Even with like the pushback on deathfist I can still see feng’s shoulder hitting 90% of the time even on different angles. That move has huge range but to throw it out as part of your offense, you are just asking to lose against any decent turtler. Personally, I don’t see a lot of Fengs just using b+1+2 that much except for on whiff or on block, and if they do I tell them they have the hugest freaking cajones I have ever seen.

Idaknow, Japanese players just play weird to me. I’m just trying to understand it. I’m used to players sticking to safe moves on offense and unsafe ones on defense. Just trying to learn what I can from vids and stuff. My buddy was playing a hella crazy Devil and Ganryu the other night when we got together, and I asked him if he was practicing and he was like, no, I’ve just been watching videos and trying out some stuff. Thanks a lot insanelee. It’s ur fault ganryu kicks my ass.

I was talking about df+3, actually. A LOT of people out here are using df+3 to catch steppers.

And yeah, Japanese players are fun. =D You’d be surprised what goofy things they do.

Feng’s shoulder doesn’t travel as far as it does in 5.0.

The countdown begins…Tonight my PSP will burn through its battery.

KITA~

I left work early at lunch to get this shit

-so far Jack is accurate
-there’s a variation on the arcade intro, it’s expanded like the 5.0 intro was for PS2
-at first the different refresh rate of the PSP screen will make things look different but it goes away after a few seconds
-you can DL ghosts from worldwide
-I haven’t checked the sounds yet
-the spacing of the buttons piss me off
-you WILL need the controller adapter, luckily there’s no limited edition BS like SFZ3:DU, I haven’t put mine on yet

MORE TO COME

I wonder if ghosts are only in the japanese one like T5 on the PS2.

ATM I see options to pull ghosts from around the world separated by region.

You also set your region when you first boot the game(not language region, physical region)

holy shit

Looks like Dragunov’s ending is added to the list of endings that happened when Tekken 6 rolls around…:wow:

First person who rips the soundtrack gets a cookie. I love the new cathedral music soooo much.

The OST comes out in 3 weeks, so ripping it is pretty unnecessary.

And I dunno, it sounds like the music quality took a minor hit in the translation…=x Maybe it’s because I don’t have it hooked up to anything.

I’ve got it on order… trust me when it drops, I’ll have it asap.

Ok let me get this…DR is coming out for PSP and not PS2???

That’s correct, sir.
